Doing this for a living come with all the ups and downs, no matter what level you are at, so let's all celebrate our wins, and deal with the tough stuff together! My name is Krystina Alabado, I am a Broadway, TV/Film, and Voice Actor based in NYC. I started working professionally in 2008 and have made a full-time living, doing what I love, but, how I make $ and sustain my life in this business may look different than you would think (or think it will be for you!) and changes DRASTICALLY week to week, month to month, and year to year! This life is a big ol' mystery that you can NEVER predict.
As always, this is my personal experience and thoughts about show business. Everyone has a different way of doing this, a different path, but this is mine! Take what helps, leave what doesn't and support your fellow artists with kindness and an open heart!

My week was great! My high school is putting on A Christmas Carol all of this weekend, and I was pretty bummed about not being able to be in it. However, me and a few gals from a show we closed a month ago got together and learned a few harmonies to Christmas songs and now we're a caroling group performing in the lobby! I also get to help backstage by holding up phone flashlights so people can apply ghost makeup and quick change. All in all I think it worked out really well.
Hey Krystina! I'm really enjoying your videos. My week has been bittersweet. On the non professional side, my great grandmother passed away on Wednesday. So that has been hard to deal with. But I am gearing up to audition for a regional show coming up. I actually submitted myself for representation to a new agency this week. Your agency actually! I sent in my audition for the revival of a show that is planning on touring the country before transferring to Broadway for it's run. So that's pretty exciting. Hoping to hear word back from that soon.

Question: How do you deal with career comparison?
Hi Krystina! First off thank you for answering my question! My week has been a bittersweet. I just wrapped up my show! It was an emotional performance for me & for the other actors as well. I love them and I’m going to miss working with them all. I’m currently booking auditions at the moment. My question is, when doing a self tape and they give you sides, do you take the time to memorize it or read it while on camera? This audition is for a film that’s being directed by well known Hollywood figure so I really want to bring my A game on this one 😅
I love your content and as someone pursuing a theatre career these videos really help with the anxiety of "starving artist". my goal is to be in a broadway production someday but I'm not living in the USA so I'm worried about that part. How easy would you say that it is to basically start a new life in New York
HI, I'm Jamaica Nida, my week was pretty chill because i was sick, but i am trying to get a dance audition self-tape done sort of, so i'm sure it will be a win if i ever get that done, and i think i should of commented last week or the week before. i finally found an actual acting studio were they do commercial auditions, and i think voice over classes, and masterclasses where they can bring in big actors and things, and i did suggest you for them to bring you in for a masterclass that's here in ohio, i don't feel like mentioning when i was sick last week and i was scared of never getting my singing voice back, other wise that was my only loss and when i had.
