Listening to this again after so many years, it really hit me, just how many songs, and lyrics I have memorized in 60 years. I still remember hearing "Reelin In The Years" on AM radio when I was like 9, and thinking, that was the most amazing guitar tone, and playing that I have ever heard. I have to learn how to play guitar, so I have been playing guitar for 50 years. At the time it was "Buttercup", "Knock Three Times", "Ride Captain Ride", "One Tin Soldier" "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" with the piano intro, now I am drowning in musical memories. I suppose I need to make a complete list. Thanks Chod. You are maybe half way there by now.
Yes, it has a very tasty bass line- nice sustain, and very melodic/almost like a counter melody, but still bass! What you also was hearing , was the mandolin☺
I agree Nancy, but I think all of us were unsure if it was a "slow" or "fast" dance because it was kind of in-between 🤣. At age 12 we had no idea what we were doing and the boys were even more confused!
There were so many groups in the 60s and 70s who were competing in an industry where and when the bar was raised high. Even if only 1% of the bands made it big, that's still a lot of music, when every other home had a band practicing in the garage or back room.
I'm 64 now , was at plant nursery in Homestead FL and could hear the radio playing and would stop when this song came on . I was 17 then . Nice walk down memory lane
Yes, Yes, Yes...SPANISH MOON - 'Waiting for Columbus' simple amazing live album and tunes. Classic - must be heard to believe, MERCENARY TERRITORY is another great tune, some of the best slide guitar ever recorded.
I must look so goofy here w my earbuds in grinning.. Your smile and enthusiasm are infectious!! Check out some Dr Hook-- "A Little Bit More"; "Sharing the Night" for love/romance songs or some of their funny songs like "Cover of the Rolling Stone"..
LOL I saw this in my notifications and put off playing it because it gets stuck in my head....but the notification was enough to start me singing it, so I finally gave in... yep, still know the words and the breaks! Still a great song: short and simple-sounding complexity🥰
As Little Feat has been mentioned can i recommend Rock' n' Roll Doctor ,the Old Grey Whistle Test version played live..They'd literally stepped off the plane and straight to the studio to play it in the morning...it's superb
I just mentioned the title of this song and my hilariously idiotic hubby started singing it in a falsetto that made the dog growl! Great to hear it though! It's been so long!
Thank-you! I've loved this song since I was a teenager in the 70's and I'd hoped you would cover this one. And I'm glad you played the studio version. There's a live version out there and it's fun, but not quite up to this quality. And yes! You've still much terrific music out there to discover. Enjoy!
Another band with similar qualities and harmonies is Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Lots of hits. Rabbit hole. One of my favorite tunes from them: Dance Little Jean. (The drummer plays the drums, and a lead harmonica part, at the same time.... talk about talent)
This is Mine & My husband's song... Thank God he's in the other room right now, because no matter where we're at, as soon as he hears it playing, He will stop everything he is doing, swing me around and start Dancing with Me.
Thanks for another great reaction, Chod! "Still The One" is their best song imo. And please don't forget to react to "Hi-De-Ho" by Blood Sweat and Tears one day before the summer is out! Peace!!
We had an embarrassment of great music in the 70's. You need to get back to some more Bread. Listen to their song "Everything I Own", you will love it.
So many artist that you haven't reacted to yet and ones that you have and need to listen to more of their stuff. Another one of Orleans song is "Still the One" and I beleive during this time "Kiss You All Over" by Exile was also on the radio and a song I think you would enjoy.
Another Great 70s band to react England Dan & John Ford Coley I'd really love to see you tonight" "It's sad to belong" "Nights are forever without you" "Love is the answer" "We'll never have to say goodbye" "What's forever for"
You've got to listen to songs from FireFall. "Strange Way", "Livin' Aint Livin'", "You Are the Woman", "Cinderella". Real talented group. Maybe on a par with The Eagles for a while.
I have roughly a hundred twenty gig of music on my HD, so if you want to continue expanding your catalog, maybe look at going for 256 gig if it's available and you can afford it. Apple is expensive (over priced).
By that warm tone, It sounds like he’s playing a fretless bass, need to be a really good bassist to play fretless. Bands got record deals back then because of their musicianship and song writing skills. Sadly almost everything these days is so over processed, packaged and predetermined that a gimmick can get you signed. That’s ok for some listeners but if I’m going to listen to music, I rather listen to great music 🎶 . Love your channel bro you’re doing great 👍.
Love your reactions...This is one of those songs that take me back to my childhood.... kind of like the song *Summer Breeze* I know you reacted to it already, but to get a feel for how it was in the 70's please watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/MsW8rXPcnM0/v-deo.html
Chod, John Hall the lead singer here went solo and organized the No Nukes Concert in 1980. Please listen to “Power” from that concert with special guests Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Graham Nash, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and others. It’s a special performance. There’s a couple of clips on UA-cam so it’s not hard to find. Thanks!
Love the baseline here as well. So melodic and rhythmic.
There is lots of great music left to explore. They do have another song, "Still the One".
"Still the one" is a better song.
and Love Takes Time
"Still the one who can scratch my itch"
.. Lol. I love that line!
"Love takes time" is also a great song with great harmonies!

I read your list Michael. Yeah, we could hang out.
Im going to blast "Ride Captain Ride" NOW!
Thanks for mentioning it! (I might curse you later though when its stuck in my head for the next 3 days! 😆)
@@JackleenaO LOL, Yeah, I suppose I should had added a disclaimer. 😁
How about “Cherry Hill Park”. I wore my 45rpm out!
Another one… “Vehicle” is the title I think.
I’ve been listening to this song my whole life and never get tired of
hearing it. You’ve got to check this song out live. Incredible…
"Still The One" was my favorite song in 1st grade...in 1976. Still in my top 10. Check it out.
Wow ! I had always thought that was EAGLES ! 🤫
Absolutely beautiful song. It has it all, bass, mandolin, harmonica, everything. Flawless vocals to boot.
No harmonica. That's a melodica.
I believe that was Lance Hoppen on bass.
Still The One by Orleans is in constant rotation on several of my playlists. Make sure you react to that gem as well.
"Still The One" and "Love Takes Time"
Great tune, great vocals, big hit played on the radio stations for decades since the mid 1970’s!
Yes, it has a very tasty bass line- nice sustain, and very melodic/almost like a counter melody, but still bass! What you also was hearing , was the mandolin☺
Impeccable vocals.
This song was mandatory at every junior high school dance I went to in 1975-76.
I agree Nancy, but I think all of us were unsure if it was a "slow" or "fast" dance because it was kind of in-between 🤣. At age 12 we had no idea what we were doing and the boys were even more confused!
Yes!!! True.
HUGE hit when it came out. It received extensive radio play. Nice vocals/harmonies, good musicianship, and a great hook. It was a hit.

This was a really great song, and regarding great harmonies, The Eagles singing 'seven bridges road' live, is a nice one too.
Thank you! Great memories. This was a very talented band! Part of the 70’s LA sound
Reach and Waking & Dreaming are two good Orleans songs.
I'm 64 now , was at plant nursery in Homestead FL and could hear the radio playing and would stop when this song came on . I was 17 then . Nice walk down memory lane
The band "Little Feat'. The song "Spanish Moon" from the live "Waiting for Columbus" album.
Yes, Yes, Yes...SPANISH MOON - 'Waiting for Columbus' simple amazing live album and tunes. Classic - must be heard to believe, MERCENARY TERRITORY is another great tune, some of the best slide guitar ever recorded.
I always loved this band and used to see them live in the small clubs. Amazing live band.
One of my favorite songs to play on the bass, it's awesome!
Crazy harmonies.Love Orleans' music.Right up there with England Dan and John Ford Coley.Close to America.
Great song! Another good one is Still The One which is my favorite. Brings back so many memories my Senior year in high school.
King Harvest/Dancing In The Moonlight studio version
I must agree. That bass line just carries the whole song
Yes, this bass is an ear magnet! Check out grand funk's " I'm Your Captain " for a true bass eargasm.
I've got this on my playlist. It came out when I was 14 and loved it straight away
A long time ago sinds I have heard this song, great, that music and voices 🎸🎶👍💕
A member of this band lives in or near my town. We saw him once at a local bar, playing this song.
"Aimee" Pure Prarie League. You might enjoy!
LOL I saw this in my notifications and put off playing it because it gets stuck in my head....but the notification was enough to start me singing it, so I finally gave in... yep, still know the words and the breaks! Still a great song: short and simple-sounding complexity🥰
They are a little bit like the Band "America." I remember these guys from the mid to late 70s. Pretty good.
Chod man I've barely skimmed the surface of great music especially the 70's.
Liv
Love it when the baseline is prominent in a song!
Such a great song! It's just a classic❤
As Little Feat has been mentioned can i recommend Rock' n' Roll Doctor ,the Old Grey Whistle Test version played live..They'd literally stepped off the plane and straight to the studio to play it in the morning...it's superb
John hall was my congressman for 4 years. Many a show done for him. Saw him with Roseanne Cash and Jackson Browne!
I did not know what this was til it played. But I still remember every word.
I just mentioned the title of this song and my hilariously idiotic hubby started singing it in a falsetto that made the dog growl!
Great to hear it though! It's been so long!
Groups with vocal harmonies which you've barely touched the surface of:
Yes
The Doobie Brothers
America
BeeGees
Seals and Crofts
etc...
Thank-you! I've loved this song since I was a teenager in the 70's and I'd hoped you would cover this one. And I'm glad you played the studio version. There's a live version out there and it's fun, but not quite up to this quality. And yes! You've still much terrific music out there to discover. Enjoy!
Orleans is multi dimensional any song on any of their records is good . Sample more from them!
Another band with similar qualities and harmonies is Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Lots of hits. Rabbit hole. One of my favorite tunes from them: Dance Little Jean. (The drummer plays the drums, and a lead harmonica part, at the same time.... talk about talent)
Good reaction/comment! Thank you.
Love Takes Time is a great one of theirs that I think was forgotten.
This is Mine & My husband's song... Thank God he's in the other room right now, because no matter where we're at, as soon as he hears it playing, He will stop everything he is doing, swing me around and start Dancing with Me.
Love this song 💜
Easy listening rock
Thanks for another great reaction, Chod! "Still The One" is their best song imo. And please don't forget to react to "Hi-De-Ho" by Blood Sweat and Tears one day before the summer is out! Peace!!
John Hall formed his own group Orleans and had some good tunes.
A member of this band, John Hall, was elected to Congress
We had an embarrassment of great music in the 70's. You need to get back to some more Bread. Listen to their song "Everything I Own", you will love it.
The Bread song "It Don't Matter to Me" is a stone cold jam and no one can tell me different.
One day you will discover Band Maid’s bassist, Misa. Akane on the drums is phenomenal as well
So many artist that you haven't reacted to yet and ones that you have and need to listen to more of their stuff. Another one of Orleans song is "Still the One" and I beleive during this time "Kiss You All Over" by Exile was also on the radio and a song I think you would enjoy.

You've got to listen to songs from FireFall. "Strange Way", "Livin' Aint Livin'", "You Are the Woman", "Cinderella". Real talented group. Maybe on a par with The Eagles for a while.

Give a listen to "Mother Freedom" by Bread. Great rockin' song!!
Great song that you never hear. I have always thought it worthy of playing. Thank God I have the album still.
Chris Turner Todd the guy is an absolute Beast on the Drum kit 40 Roll and I am abomination ..
You wanna hear some cool psychedelic bass? You need to listen to "Soul Experience" by Iron Butterfly. Such a cool song
Bread "Guitar Man"
They're problem 1/3 of garage bands that didn't make it cause they're were so many groups out there in the 70's 80's.
Please react to Come Together by The Youngbloods! Great song that you may have heard in a few commercials!
My only complaint with this song is that it's too short
You should give a listen to White Bird by It's A Beautiful Day.
I've heard that Chet Atkins really liked this song.
High praise!
I have roughly a hundred twenty gig of music on my HD, so if you want to continue expanding your catalog, maybe look at going for 256 gig if it's available and you can afford it. Apple is expensive (over priced).
☮️💙💙💙😍
One of my favorites !!
You say you've heard a lot of great songs and you have, but you haven't even scratched the surface.
👍👍
Try Alice Cooper’s Halo of Flies.
Ever hear of The Buckinghams? Have you reacted to Glen Campbell? try 'em

Love your reactions...This is one of those songs that take me back to my childhood.... kind of like the song *Summer Breeze* I know you reacted to it already, but to get a feel for how it was in the 70's please watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/MsW8rXPcnM0/v-deo.html
It is amazing how music in the past 3 decades has SUCKED and gon e down hill. Especially the RAP shit. I almost forgot. RAP ain't music.
Chod, John Hall the lead singer here went solo and organized the No Nukes Concert in 1980. John didn't sing lead on this song. It was Larry Hoppen.
THIS is why we had to have punk.
???
Stick with the old stuff, thats where it all started...and stayed.
