I was hoping there would be a consultant that would know the colors and maybe suggest that for them but they weren't helped at all you just go in there and pick out your dress and I thought what a mess. It's part of the tradition but you are not forced to wear it all the time, you can switch them with sneakers, specially for the "informal" exhibition dance. You can also practice with those 1 or 2 hours a day

XV is not just a party, and part of the tradition is to change flats for heels as other people above already mentioned. You can’t blame the mom for asking to give it a try with the dress once, ofc if she didn’t feel comfortable she can say no. Most quinceañeras only use them at the beginning of the party anyways and change them to flats or sneakers at the end to dance more comfortably. Please respect her mom wanted to follow a tradition of her country and not call it messed up just like that.

Honestly the heels allowed the dress to drape better. Even a wedged heel or a smaller heel would work. A flat shoe is going to create that bunchiness at the bottom. Fashion is pain boo. I remember my first pair of heels. You just have to practice and learn the proper technique when it comes to walking. Also a chunky heel is a good starter heel.
