    Its interesting to know that if you were born in russia but adopted by parents in another country you qualify for a russian passport.i think its thoughtful of them.makes it easier for adoptive children to be in contact with their birth parents🙂

    In our Hindu belief, Lord Krishna's mother is Yashoda, who nursed him and was not his birth mother. We believe that adopted mother or mother who take care and give us values(samskara) is your mother and birth mother may have given u birth but no one can take place of your mother who nurtured you. All the best. Regards to both your parents.

    I've been to Russia last year and I am totally in love with the country. It is a beautiful country with nice people. At first I was really scared to go there too because you hear all these stories about Russia and I was really worried about the safety. But it ended up surprising me and is now top 3 of the most favorite countries I have ever visited.. and I've visited quite a few. In Sint Petersburg many people understand English and it is very safe there. There are also many tourists there and it is sooo pretty. I still remember the first time I saw Russia, I couldn't believe that I was actually there, a country I never planned to visit but still ended up going there. I'm glad I did because it changed my whole perspective and how I see things. I still remember my first view of Russia and the moment when I finally set foot on Russian ground, what a great feeling that was. I am so happy I got to go there and see it and experience it for myself. I'm hoping to visit Russia very soon again... with covid and stuff it's kind of difficult to travel nowadays, but hopefully soon I'll be able to again.

    Alex, you look so much like your biological dad. As they would say in Russia, «вылитый отец»! So great that you two have connected and established a good relationship. I found it interesting seeing that you also resemble a bit of your adoptive dad.
    I want to thank you for sharing your story as it inspired me to visit Russia earlier this summer for the first time in 15 years. I hope for an opportunity to visit again very soon. What is your thought on visiting in the winter/fall? From the video I gathered you were there during the colder part of the year?
    Who do you typically travel with?
    Greetings from Florida

    I feel like he has more connection with his birth dad, than with his adopted parents. He is russian soul in his blood and the ozzy vibe is just too mellow. And it makes sense why he was looking for “where he comes from”, because he could probably feel like he is not part of it himself. Not that it is negative, but it’s just interesting how genetics work and make us seek what we do!

    Hi, just stopped to view your video, Your story is fascinating to watch. It is slow, it is gentle, it is restrained and so different from the story told in the book and film "Lion". You are a good storyteller. I like the way you seem to have enriched your personality after meeting your birth parents. You show no bitterness or confusion in the way other adoptees are shown in films. Your birth mother is intriguing. I see a certain sadness in her eyes. There seems to be a lot going on in her life that is not visible in the videos. Your birth father is endearing. I like the way he thanks the couple that adopted you, your Mum and Dad. I would refer to them as your Life Parents - after all they did give you a life. They raised you in a way that made your early challenges in life look simple, uncomplicated and easy to handle. Best wishes to you all.

    I love this story since it is about real life,and you have handled a complex issue respectfully. As you said life was not easy for your birth mother, and your parents are of course who raised you, but by only proceeding when they were willing look at the growing family you have. Enjoy it all.

    Alex, I love your story and you are so blessed to have two sets of parents who love you. I wonder how your brother who was adopted with you is doing? You don’t mention him in your videos. Does he just not want to be included. Is he interested in finding his birth parents like you were?

    • @alexgilbert
      @alexgilbert  5 років тому +1

      Hello! I had been able to reach out to some family friends in Russia who speak English which has been helpful. Of course for those people who need a translator can reach out online I’m sure. Though of course there will be many available! Depends on where too. People here have been able to reach out to the adoption agency who knows people who can also translate too. Sorry that I don’t have a direct answer :(

    What would be your short list of things to not say or do as a tourist in Russia?

    • @earthandwind820
      @earthandwind820 4 роки тому +1

      Lol It’s a country of 140+ million people. There are good and bad people there, there are good and bad people in every country. Do you really think they’re these overwhelmingly scary people that you need a short list of “things not to say or do” or you’re done with? 🙈😁

      William Clark Russia is a very big country with many people and they’re not all clones of each other! I didn’t mean to sound offensive, if that’s how you took it - sorry! The thing is, there are many ethnicities, religions, regions/republics, experiences.
      Most importantly, there’s this unfortunate practice of putting the millions of them in a tiny box/deeply generalizing them, so it’s best to stay away from thinking “one size fits all” if you know what I mean. Anyway, have a goodnight/day!
