7 victories (and there's still the last in Wales) in the last three 6N Under 20 tournaments plus other narrow losses (1 point in Ireland this year, for instance). We are finally building great young teams
Italy look like they are genuinly not far off producing consistently good teams at the senior level. This game is another example of why the SRFU are aggressively trawling the globe for players whose granny visited Scotland once on holiday.
I wouldn't worry to much if i was Scottish, south Africa are looking good at underage its only a matter of time before they are promoted to Scotlands first team
Not so far this weekend with the Italians getting the win they were denied last time out and England spoiling Ireland's dreams of back to back grand slams.
There is a significant gap between the u20 Scotland and the senior Scotland. They even lost to u20 Uruguay in the u20 World Trophy, the second-tier WC.
Ultimately, while it's of course nice to win these games, it's all about producing players that are good enough to step up to the national side. Realistically 90%+ of these guys will never make that jump. So even though, clearly, most of Scotland's team aren't really good enough, if we get a couple of gems from this squad then that's job done. However, that still doesn't mask the fact that something is broken within the SRU. We are getting good results just now, full houses etc but we can't keep relying on effectively signing players from other countries for our national side. Look at the prop situation just now as well. Our two starting props are excellent, but then we have two guys on the bench that don't even start every week for their club sides (at least as far as I am aware). If you compare this situation to our football team, then it's totally different. We are now producing a steady stream of very good young players who are now getting snapped up by Premier League sides. I believe we created some sort of football school for our most promising players (such as Billy Gilmour etc) and clearly this is now reaping the rewards. We need to take a similar approach with Rugby, otherwise we will continue to rely on the brilliance of the next Finn Russell, Stuart Hogg etc coming out of nowhere, alongside a bunch of South African players to plug the remaining gaps in the team (don't get me wrong I love VDM/Schoeman etc, but this is not a sustainable long term strategy imo).
tbh i think rugby is different to football where u20s is really important. like in rugby i say 30-50% of u20s make it to pro and probably 10-20% make national team
The entire setup in Scotland is woeful. SRU aren't interested until you make the Glasgow/Edinburgh selection or we can find a Scottish granny who moved to the back of beyond in 19 canteen.
They don't even play in the U20 World Cup anymore. They play in the second division and didn't even make the final of the last tournament, where Spain beat Uruguay and were promoted. So two non-Six Nations European teams, Georgia and Spain, compete in the first division and have better teams and youth systems than Scotland. The future is bleak.
Scotland won't be concerned about their future. They haven't promoted a Scottish player from the U20s for 4 years. The SRU gave up on developing their own players a long time ago.
I said this two ago, scotlands head coach said as long as they beat england they have done their job, they are never going to win anything and it amounts to cheating by not trying against the other teams thereby allowing one of the other teams to claim the title, basically they are cheating.
U20s Scotland are significantly worse than their senior team, they even lost to U20s Uruguay recently. When this generation retires, they’ll have to rely on farming South African players again
@@johnqueripel2001no he wouldn’t thats the point! Let the women commentate the women’s game. Plenty of good male commentators being excluded for ‘equality’.
Italy have good future
Well done Italy . What a team you have ! The future is yours !
To be fair to Scotland their next generation of players are all in South Africa
😂
😂😂😂
That’s a laugh coming from an Englishman. How many foreign born players in your rugby and cricket squads down the years? Always selective as per usual
@@stum8551 it’s a joke mate calm down 😂
We can always find a granny somewhere 😂
Impresionante lo de Italia y como argentino me resulta muy grato ver lo que Gonzalo Quesada esta logrando con la azzurra.
These guys make us dream for a good future, such a great game! Good to see that we confirmed last week’s good vibes 😎

And won v SAF in the wc
Questa Italia mi sta facendo venire solo a guardarla 🇮🇹
Great performance 🇮🇹 bravi ragazzi ottimo lavoro!!! Adesso alzate lo standard ancora di più.

bravo gli azzurini
Brilliant Italian team.
Well done Italy. Although it doesn't simply work like that, hopefully, this talent translates into the senior team in the coming years.
Don’t imagine many of these Scottish youth players will make it to the senior team, most of their future senior players are still in South Africa
Fantastica Italia ❤
Soooo happy. These guys are amazing.
Grandissimi ragazzi!
Grazie RAGAZzacci ! Bel match , bel rugby 💪🏽🤞🏽

Great Italy 🇮🇹👏👍

Orgogliosi di voi.

Wow! That was a thrashing. Good to see
The U20 Six Nations is more entertaining than the seniors.

Not sure abt your first point mate, look how many players just under 10 years ago played for the u20’s who are now world class
tbh i think rugby is different to football where u20s is really important. like in rugby i say 30-50% of u20s make it to pro and probably 10-20% make national team
If number ten had played against the senior vs France Italy could have won for three points
God Scotland under 20s are horrible you'd be concerned for Scotland's future
It needs to hit the SRU's bottum line before we see change.

The SRU gave up on developing their own players a long time ago.
They will be fine. They’ll get s couple of Saffas, s Pacific Islander here snd there and all will be neat.
Going to need a lot more South Africans
I said this two ago, scotlands head coach said as long as they beat england they have done their job, they are never going to win anything and it amounts to cheating by not trying against the other teams thereby allowing one of the other teams to claim the title, basically they are cheating.
It may not be cheating, but it does go against the spirit of the game.
bravi azzurrini!!!!!
It's unfair to mock scotland for having most of their star players imported from SA,
they also have quite a few Kiwis
I remember the days when the commentators were chosen for their skills.
Ancora mi piango il drop in Irlanda...
i can see Ireland scoring 80 plus again against Scotland under 20s next week at home in cork next week
Looks like the young Scottish are on the same path as the senior side. Townsend will be sending the scouts out to Capetown to pickup sone school boys.
Forza La Azul Train!
Scotlands underage structures are pure muck. The u20s have been shocking for years. Is there any plan to make improvements before its too late
What else ??!! 😂 Good job guys !!
And then their senior team beat Scotland
Quindi , come termineranno in classifica?
terzo o quarto

A pathetic Scotland performance only made worse by the two commentators
No place for Machos here, go watch football!
So, it’s all women commentating on the women’s game (men excluded) and now it’s all women in the men’s game. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
Dude, who cares if the commentator is female or male she must be entertaining and competent and she is

Yesterday was march 8th, womens international day, so probably this was an alternative way to celebrate it....
