    Pretty obvious the 2.5 king is going to perform better than a 2.0 fox... A better comparison would be between a 2.5 king and 2.5 fox Coilover set up.

    Thank you for this comparison! Most people wanted to see 2.5 vs 2.5 but this is exactly what I wanted to see. The kings cost twice as much as the fox 2.0 and I wanted to see the live performance difference. Is 2x the price really 2x the performance.. especially with the two most reputable brands on the market. For a daily truck thats a weekend warrior the fox dont seem like a bad option at all.

    Fox with 700 lbs springs looks like a much more practical setup. There is no significant difference in the way the beach bumps are absorbed (at least not visible from this video) but the wheel control over larger impacts is much better than the kings which look kind of under-dampened due to their digressive character. However, the 700lbs spring and more linear damping of the fox will provide much better on-road handling and that's where 90% of the miles will be driven. I'll have the fox setup. But I agree, it would be interesting to see the fox 2.5 as well!

  • @christopherholder6853

    They do know Fox makes a 2.5 as well. Why didn't they use that instead. Even though the Fox coilovers handled pretty good as well.

    Looking for suspension setup for Fortuner with stock tyres. Needs in order of preference-
    1. Comfort in all kinds of terrain
    2. No thuds or sound in cabin
    3. On road performance better than stock ones.
    Any suggestions?

    I'm about to have a Icon Stage 9 installed. And I have a DV8 bumper I'm going to also install. Didn't realize Icon's spring rate is only 600.
    Did your Timbren front bump stops prevent the weight of the bumper from losing height? Have to add spacers?

    • @4x4OffRoadChannel
      @4x4OffRoadChannel  3 роки тому +1

      The grey Tundra in the video has Kings on it with 600lbs springs. With the weight of the DV8 bumper and winch isn't enough to affect the ride height for his desired lift of 2.5" We always recommend the Timbren off road bumpstops as they are a great addition for smoothing out the last few inches of travel when bottoming out but they will not affect the lift height of the vehicle. The HD Timbren bumpstops are more for snow plow setups. The Grey Tundra owner debated on 600lbs to 700lbs springs but is very happy with the 600lbs springs as the on road and off road ride is greatly improved.

      @@4x4OffRoadChannel Thank you for the information. From the research I've done, and the vendors and shops I've spoken to, Kings may hold up better with the weight in front better than Icons. And the Timbrens you're speaking about is the Active Off Road ones? I was thinking of getting the SES that is used for snow plows to support the DV8 and winch. But will make a stiffer ride and go against the Icon performance. So still stuck on that.

    • @4x4OffRoadChannel
      @4x4OffRoadChannel  3 роки тому +1

      @@rayrayk7458 The weight of the bumper and winch shouldn't determine any decision you may have to make because its not enough weight to make any difference. How high are you planning to lift? We have found that anything over 2.5" starts to stress parts and affects reliability. We have been off-roading Tundra's for 5 years.

    • @rayrayk7458
      @rayrayk7458 3 роки тому

      I have a 2.5" spacer lift on now. But with the Icons I was hoping to get the 3". That's good to know about the added weight of the DV8 and winch will not affect the height. I'm guessing both will weight over 200 pounds in front.

      @4x4OffRoadChannel  3 роки тому +1

    You’ve had the Fox 2.0’s for awhile. I’m thinking about upgrading from my stock suspension to those. I don’t off-road much. Did you have to use a shim for the driver’s side lean? Still happy with the Fox 2.0’s Any reason I should go with the bilstein 6112?

    • @4x4OffRoadChannel
      @4x4OffRoadChannel  3 роки тому +2

      The Fox 2.0 are a nice setup but wouldn't recommend them with e load tires as my experience is the ride is stiff with the 700lbs springs. If I had to do it over I would have used the Bilstein 6112. I didn't use the driver side shim and did have the drivers side lean. Also the Fox 2.0 and Bilstein preload can not be adjusted on the vehicle. I was looking at other manufacturers like Icon or Kings for a reasonable set that I could adjust on the truck if I wanted. Depending on your budget I would definitely use 2.5 inch shock body and the lowest spring rate possible. The Kings come with 600lbs springs.

    • @cpwned
      @cpwned 3 роки тому

      @@4x4OffRoadChannel I appreciate the response. With the forums and different comments it’s hard to decipher what I really need without blowing out my budget. I was even thinking of the non resi Fox 2.5, I think you can adjust the preload on those shocks. But the price is $200 cheaper than a set of kings, and I think at that budget might as well save for the Kings.

      The Fox 2.0 are a budget friendly suspension which are slightly stiffer (my opinion) than the stock suspension. At first I had E load tires and then dropped down to C load tires for a much smoother ride. If budget allows the Kings 2.5 are an excellent value with adjustments from soft to firm on ride. The fox 2.0 comes with 700lbs springs and the Kings come with 600lbs springs.
