According to Gaijin, Russian MBTs use ammunition as armor, and it works really well. In real life, of course, we see how Russian MBTs use ammo as rocket fuel for launching their turrets into the stratosphere.

Gaijjin artifically modified all the Russian MBTs and tanks, to have zero spalling whatsoever. Apparently the devs did it cus their feelings got hurt when their marketing department added the M1 abrams back then. They kept it like this ever since

War Thunder has a huge problem with ammo hitting moving things. And I'm not talking about moving things relative to the ground, I'm talking about moving things relative to the center of mass of a vehicle. I think this started with volumetric shells, but I'm not really sure. I just remember this issue appearing in about the same time frame. How many times do I struck the turret bussel ammo rack or a rotating turret and it does nothing How many times your round hit the very tip of a gun barrel while the turret is moving and the rounds just dissapear into oblivion without damaging the barrel at all ? It's so often that I decided to test it myself : when I'm in a 1v1 fight, I mess up my shot and I know that My opponent has a shell in the breech before me (either because he didn't fire in the first place or he has a faster reload that I do), I just giggle the turret. It's not all the time, but pretty often, his shell will just do nothing because he hit somehting (the turret, or the gun) that was rotating while the shell hit it and the game just has a brain fart and deletes the shell) I think this is why russian tanks are so resilient to ammo rack : contrary to NATO tanks that almost universaly have their biggest ammo rack in the hull, in a fixed position with sometimes the ready rack in the turret (There is exceptions to that, but for example, Type 90, Leclerc, Leopard 2 have this config (that can be kinda neglected by only taking the ammo neede to fill the ready rack)), In russian tanks, the main ammo stowage compartment is the carousel. And the carousel is moving with the turret, which is almost always rotating except is the dudes goes in a straight line and not moving his camera, or if he's shooting someone and has his gun locked on his target. I don't know how this issue still hasn't been fixed, volumetric shells have been around for a long time already
That's why I always just aim for the turret ring first. It usually doesn't eat shots in my experience even when rotating. This will lock the turret still and probably kill half the turret crew, letting me aim my next shot on a non-moving turret.

As much as I don't play this game, there's always something good about seeing an Australian vehicle and Australian camo.... We know how to make a good vehicle. We've made a few additions for comfort. And they even did some old jellybean. Brings a tear to my eyes.
Sadly enough, the camo Spook is using in the video is a custom skin other players can’t see. The current default camo for the AIM has a lighter shade for the dark tan which isn’t how it looks on the current servicing AIMs in the ADF. Gaijin wasn’t even able to do that correctly.
something I noticed playing mainly russian MBT's is that the 125 mm create little to no spall even when penetrating frontal armor. And russian tanks are also eating shells in the ammo, mostly BVM's 80U's.
Thats because Russian MBTs were artifically modified to have zero spalling upon penetration by Gaijjin. They buffed all russian mbts after the M1 was added, for no discernable reason
@@honkhonk8009 Yeah, Even when facing each-other The russian MBT's ammo rack creates no spalling, and doesnt detonate when destroyed most of the time, as I just tested it today. Smaller APFSDS's (anything under 90mm's), have had this issue for ever, I don't know why gaijin wont fix it but now it seems to effect all APFSDS. I hope it's just a bug and not a "feature".
Remember when the M1A2 was meta for two patches and Gaijin smacked it with a 12k repair cost?. The BVM has been in game for a year and it gets buffed every other patch.
Yup they handed one of the best tanking nations in the game a good vehicle then slapped it with the rep cost hammer and are now working to tank Americas win rate with the AIM and the stupidity of putting in a top tier prem, Gaijin just needs to fix ammo spall and have russian ammo when its hit actually do something because Ive been in hit my fucking blow out panels a dozen times and each time my tank combusted thanks to gaijin meanwhile the T80 I shoot can fucking care less such bullshit.

uhh pretty sure it's because that's not how it works. iirc every crew member of the Wiesel 1A2 can perform all of their duties from *inside* the vehicle. Nobody has to stick their head out to fire. The TOW launcher is remotely operated
In some American tanks, I receive hits that cause my ammo to explode despite it not even being hit. Basically if any part of my tank is penned, it automatically caused ammo to explode despite it not being a part that was hit. Meanwhile, Russian tanks don't explode when their ammo is hit directly and even destroyed. The Russian bias is real.

Irl Russian mbt's are almost entirely killed by shaped charges, which will pretty much always set off the ammo. Never seen an ammo explosion from sabot.
y'know i've noticed that the turms doesn't seem to enjoy the smae "invincible ammo" luxury as the tech tree russian top tier vehicles, i'm not complaining that it DOESN'T but i am curious as to why given that it could boost sales if it did and the tech tree ones (mostly) didn't.
probably to boost russian winrates with out being able to be called p2w sellouts its my guess, the turms is already a great 9.7 great gun, good armor, literal gen 3 thermals, ok ish reload and the best part of russian tanks is that they dont need crew training to be viable within warthunder at top tier, auto loaders make it easy to where anyone can pick up a turms and be relatively competent in the fact of 9.0s but thats about it I just think its to not have the turms be a horrendous nightmare for the 8.7s out there that have to deal with them on a regular basis.
@@tomsonlarrson3318 they don't "detonate" when they disappear, sometimes for some bullshit reason ammo has a chance to be destroyed without exploding at all. It's more common with tiny rounds without HE filler but sometimes will happen with darts from MBTs

Russia has tanks that were modernized after 2000, even after 2010, Israel got the Merkava Mk4M, France got the Leclerc SXXI, Germany Leopard 2A6, China ZTZ99A, Japan Type 10 and the USA M1A2 from 1993 and the Australian export M1A1AIM, which is an escape from the addition of US M1A1SA, M1A2SEPv1/2 with better armor and the M829A3... And there is still M1A2SEPv3 with NGAP and M829A4 ...
Not to mention Russian MBTs being artifically coded to have zero spalling whatsoever, in contrast ot western MBTs. Gaijjin got exposed doing that, and no one gave af. Their marketing department and management isnt very biased, but the devs? Jesus bruh.
Spooks, I'm surprised you didn't see the new changes, Gaijin removed the ability to ammo rack top tier Russian MBTs The devs also have become more aggressive towards criticism so be careful not to get banned.
The whole russian ammo not detonating seems to have been happening the last few weeks especially, even on low tier a lot of their tanks will simply have their ammo dissapear when it should detonate. But then again gaijin has a track record of handholding russian vehicles. Still remember the bullshit of when the XP-55 was released which whole gimmick was being able to outclimb everything but the fairydust engines of the yak still could outclimb the XP-55 easily.
Russian fughters out accelerating p51/p47 or catching them on a dive, totally beating the joke of their playstile, if you even get to a nice altitude on the first place
I remember diving out from a fight with a yak-3 in a P-38L, blowing past his rip speed by 100 knots, and then maybe a minute later he’s outrunning me by maybe 30-50 knots. It’s absolutely wild how BS Yaks are.

Watching you play top tier makes me remember why I hate playing top tier (teammates, getting gaijined, too fast paced, and although not shown CAS). Its a partly a skill issue and partly I dont want to sweat too much playing the game. At least I have light tanks to play around with.
Cas is also a massive problem in low tier, gaijin should just make a mode that is tanks only just like how air is air only. It's not fun playing italy or japan and constantly getting shit on by russian fairydust planes.
Fast paced toptier lol, everytime i check the map 2/3 of capture points are not capped and enemies/friendlies generally only camp 100 meters away from spawn. its boring

i seen atleast 4 times where APFDS went into ammo and failed to damage anything in russian ammo carusel , i dont mean "destroying ammo" but hitting carousel (vanishing) and then going out behind it in just this video.

I've never played this game but watched some videos here and there over the years. I knew it was focused on WWII era stuff originally, so when I saw 1950s and later 1960s Cold War era stuff being added, I was very surprised. Also sort of sly on the devs' part to put this on sale in time for the 4th of July weekend here in the USA. I'm sure the money is raining down.
Honestly, I use top tier in custom battles if I want to just dick around but I stick to WWII mostly. That's the stuff I was interested in when I joined the game and I could foresee problems on the horizon when they started moving beyond WWII.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has been seeing Russian mbts just not ammo racking consistently since the new update. It's like 1/4 just don't do anything

Apparently a few of you aren't getting that it's a simple wishlist. When you build your perfect car and price isn't an object, do you settle for simple beige Honda with no extras?
It has been uptiered to 11.3 now and it does kinda struggle but it can still pen and kill things like the M3 Lee in its respective BR but overall this tank is pretty fun I have played it a decent amount I did have to use GE to get the KE-W shell because the HEATFS doesn’t pen anything but now it’s not that bad
The premium Leo 2 and Challenger are signs that Gaijin's current business model is falling short, resorting to minimalist cosmetics rather than unique vehicles or variations.
I feel that the main target customers are the players that don't want to bother grinding top tier to get their favorite mbt, so instead of adding more niche or less known top tier vehicles they just go "Hey, if you gives us money you can play the abrums, leopard 2 or challenger right now". I hope that gunner heat pc releases soon so tank enthusiasts can play modern tanks without having to choose between paying 60 bucks for one tank or grind for like 1000 hours

Reason why i love War Thunder ~ i fired might 6 rockets from my stormer HVM into a enemy heli none of them hit even when they literally goes through the heli middle part under the blades....... If i renember the distance was like 2,5km or something like that, and it was not just that situation cus i had simullar things happens when i was shooting Ka-50's
it seems like playing the m1a1 aim is the experience that us players used to have when the m1a2 just came out like its going up against the same tanks as the a2 did when it released

@@lilzenongene and the Type 90 is balanced by a 4-second reload, which is why I brought up the HSTVL, quick reload = Gaijin not giving you a better round until it's needed as a quick reload is extremely good for a tank, even then there is no real difference between Type 10 and Jm33 pen-wise i.e. that round pens the exact same places that JM33 does and it won't pen the exact same places that JM33 can't (except for British tanks), there is no overall difference, every tank at top tier has the same weak points, LFP, aim around cannon breach, or for the US/Germany aim anywhere other than the turret cheeks, which you could already do with JM33, hence why the HSTVL is at 10.7 even though it has an 8.0 APFSDS round. I mean cmon man, your type 74s at 8.7 get a better round than every 8.0-10 US tank (bar the M1128) so stop going on about balance, there is more to tank balance than just how good a tank APFSDS round is, take the IPM1, for instance, it basically went up .4 of a BR because it reloads 1 second quicker than the M1A1, the Type 90 reloads 1.30 seconds quicker than the IPM1 and still 1 second quicker than the IMP1 when used by an ace crew. JM33 and Type 10 both do the exact same thing, but for whatever reason, you actually think there is a discernible difference gameplay-wise, also flat pen isn't that important for APFSDS, 30 and 60 degree pen stats are.

Honestly, I've just been avoiding top tier completely. It's just too much of a mess right now with the AIM, PL, and premium 2A4. I swear "Low tier fun tier" becomes more and more true with every update. I'm also predicting that in 2 or 3 years Gaijin will stop updating the tech trees completely and will only add paid vehicles.
At 7:00 unfortunately it is a accuracy thing, just like on the leopard the Abrams has a FCS limitation that elevates the barrel when you’re near the engine, it’s a back deck limiter or a “Heckabweiser” as the Germans called it
I noticed after this update that russian tanks when they are getting their ammo shot its doing nothing but before this update it was a consistent 1 shot if you even shot into the general area of the ammo rack. The amount of russian hand holding is getting really frustrating. I'm not playing top tier anymore purely and simply becuase I'm so sick of getting killed by players who should died to an ammo rack shot but it now just hits their fuel rank and turns the ammo carousel orange. Russia is clearly clearly being hand held by gaijin and given an almost unfair advantage over everyone who doesn't play Russia.

You can hear the depression in his voice after 2 games of top tier. This is not exclusive to the freebrams and american teams and deserves a video all on its own.
On that t80B you hit ammo and it didn't blow up. It isn't really a bug or anything but when the t80 (and maybe t72 idk) carries less ammo than what fills the autoloader some of the shells just don't explode even though the ammo is still there on the xray
Why doesn't Gaijin just add a system so you can choose the lowest level you want to queue into a game with, and have the maximum level be limited to 20 levels higher than you? So new players don't face pub stompers, and people can choose not to play with people who buy into top tier and make the game unplayable? Oh, wait, they'd make some BS remark about queue times.
In reality the more knowledgeable and usually more experienced players say they would not mind extra queue times and waiting a bit longer, but in reality the large majority of players complain about the queue times if they have to wait for longer than two minutes
There are level 100 players who are bad at the game, same time there exist some low level players that play really good. MM should be based on performance/recent performance, not level.
@@katyusha1283 Never said people don't buy their way to higher levels, but this would be a middle-ground that Gaijin may consider if someone brought it to their attention. It requires almost no effort nor thought. Having to queue for performance would suck, since you wouldn't properly be able to improve if your teammates are always terrible, you may just give up as a new player. It'd be easier and in the long run better to just separate them based on levels. There are great players at all levels of the game, but this will sort them out a bit.

I know, old video but i reckon having purchasable top tiers is a good thing, like me, that has played the game for 1k hours and still doesnt have any 11.0's can choose to play that rank if i really really want to. That and it keeps the tiers alive for that reason
The Kangaroos on the turret is representative of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps M1A1 AIM's and all combat vehicles within the ADF. Every vehicle will have a Kangaroo silhouette on it somewhere. The Kangaroo and Emu are prolific throughout the ADF in emblems as they are two native animals that can't walk backwards.
As someone who grinded till top tier I’m glade I did as their is a lot I’ve learned from lower tiers that if I bought into top tier I never would have learned
the fact that this thing is at the same br than the arietes and is better in armor, speed and while being equal in firepower and sights and there is the chance that it goes down in br because a lot of newer players are playing it just blows my mind.
They should add a lock on some premiums/squadron vehicles that unlock after you pass a certain level. That would get rid of the problem with level fives at top tier.

War Thunder has a huge problem with ammo hitting moving things. And I'm not talking about moving things relative to the ground, I'm talking about moving things relative to the center of mass of a vehicle.
I think this started with volumetric shells, but I'm not really sure. I just remember this issue appearing in about the same time frame.
How many times do I struck the turret bussel ammo rack or a rotating turret and it does nothing
How many times your round hit the very tip of a gun barrel while the turret is moving and the rounds just dissapear into oblivion without damaging the barrel at all ?
It's so often that I decided to test it myself : when I'm in a 1v1 fight, I mess up my shot and I know that My opponent has a shell in the breech before me (either because he didn't fire in the first place or he has a faster reload that I do), I just giggle the turret. It's not all the time, but pretty often, his shell will just do nothing because he hit somehting (the turret, or the gun) that was rotating while the shell hit it and the game just has a brain fart and deletes the shell)
I think this is why russian tanks are so resilient to ammo rack : contrary to NATO tanks that almost universaly have their biggest ammo rack in the hull, in a fixed position with sometimes the ready rack in the turret (There is exceptions to that, but for example, Type 90, Leclerc, Leopard 2 have this config (that can be kinda neglected by only taking the ammo neede to fill the ready rack)), In russian tanks, the main ammo stowage compartment is the carousel. And the carousel is moving with the turret, which is almost always rotating except is the dudes goes in a straight line and not moving his camera, or if he's shooting someone and has his gun locked on his target.
I don't know how this issue still hasn't been fixed, volumetric shells have been around for a long time already

That's why I always just aim for the turret ring first. It usually doesn't eat shots in my experience even when rotating. This will lock the turret still and probably kill half the turret crew, letting me aim my next shot on a non-moving turret.

Sadly enough, the camo Spook is using in the video is a custom skin other players can’t see. The current default camo for the AIM has a lighter shade for the dark tan which isn’t how it looks on the current servicing AIMs in the ADF. Gaijin wasn’t even able to do that correctly.
something I noticed playing mainly russian MBT's is that the 125 mm create little to no spall even when penetrating frontal armor. And russian tanks are also eating shells in the ammo, mostly BVM's 80U's.
Thats because Russian MBTs were artifically modified to have zero spalling upon penetration by Gaijjin. They buffed all russian mbts after the M1 was added, for no discernable reason

Smaller APFSDS's (anything under 90mm's), have had this issue for ever, I don't know why gaijin wont fix it but now it seems to effect all APFSDS. I hope it's just a bug and not a "feature".

In some American tanks, I receive hits that cause my ammo to explode despite it not even being hit. Basically if any part of my tank is penned, it automatically caused ammo to explode despite it not being a part that was hit. Meanwhile, Russian tanks don't explode when their ammo is hit directly and even destroyed. The Russian bias is real.

probably to boost russian winrates with out being able to be called p2w sellouts its my guess, the turms is already a great 9.7 great gun, good armor, literal gen 3 thermals, ok ish reload and the best part of russian tanks is that they dont need crew training to be viable within warthunder at top tier, auto loaders make it easy to where anyone can pick up a turms and be relatively competent in the fact of 9.0s but thats about it I just think its to not have the turms be a horrendous nightmare for the 8.7s out there that have to deal with them on a regular basis.

Russia has tanks that were modernized after 2000, even after 2010, Israel got the Merkava Mk4M, France got the Leclerc SXXI, Germany Leopard 2A6, China ZTZ99A, Japan Type 10 and the USA M1A2 from 1993 and the Australian export M1A1AIM, which is an escape from the addition of US M1A1SA, M1A2SEPv1/2 with better armor and the M829A3... And there is still M1A2SEPv3 with NGAP and M829A4 ...
And m1a1 fep it could be 10.7 with its trophy and m829a2 to deal with the Russians ka50 and their tanks oh and armor was better than the a2 in game

The whole russian ammo not detonating seems to have been happening the last few weeks especially, even on low tier a lot of their tanks will simply have their ammo dissapear when it should detonate.

Still remember the bullshit of when the XP-55 was released which whole gimmick was being able to outclimb everything but the fairydust engines of the yak still could outclimb the XP-55 easily.

I remember diving out from a fight with a yak-3 in a P-38L, blowing past his rip speed by 100 knots, and then maybe a minute later he’s outrunning me by maybe 30-50 knots. It’s absolutely wild how BS Yaks are.

I've never played this game but watched some videos here and there over the years. I knew it was focused on WWII era stuff originally, so when I saw 1950s and later 1960s Cold War era stuff being added, I was very surprised.
Also sort of sly on the devs' part to put this on sale in time for the 4th of July weekend here in the USA. I'm sure the money is raining down.
Honestly, I use top tier in custom battles if I want to just dick around but I stick to WWII mostly. That's the stuff I was interested in when I joined the game and I could foresee problems on the horizon when they started moving beyond WWII.

It has been uptiered to 11.3 now and it does kinda struggle but it can still pen and kill things like the M3 Lee in its respective BR but overall this tank is pretty fun I have played it a decent amount I did have to use GE to get the KE-W shell because the HEATFS doesn’t pen anything but now it’s not that bad
The premium Leo 2 and Challenger are signs that Gaijin's current business model is falling short, resorting to minimalist cosmetics rather than unique vehicles or variations.
I feel that the main target customers are the players that don't want to bother grinding top tier to get their favorite mbt, so instead of adding more niche or less known top tier vehicles they just go "Hey, if you gives us money you can play the abrums, leopard 2 or challenger right now". I hope that gunner heat pc releases soon so tank enthusiasts can play modern tanks without having to choose between paying 60 bucks for one tank or grind for like 1000 hours

@@lilzenongene and the Type 90 is balanced by a 4-second reload, which is why I brought up the HSTVL, quick reload = Gaijin not giving you a better round until it's needed as a quick reload is extremely good for a tank, even then there is no real difference between Type 10 and Jm33 pen-wise i.e. that round pens the exact same places that JM33 does and it won't pen the exact same places that JM33 can't (except for British tanks), there is no overall difference, every tank at top tier has the same weak points, LFP, aim around cannon breach, or for the US/Germany aim anywhere other than the turret cheeks, which you could already do with JM33, hence why the HSTVL is at 10.7 even though it has an 8.0 APFSDS round. I mean cmon man, your type 74s at 8.7 get a better round than every 8.0-10 US tank (bar the M1128) so stop going on about balance, there is more to tank balance than just how good a tank APFSDS round is, take the IPM1, for instance, it basically went up .4 of a BR because it reloads 1 second quicker than the M1A1, the Type 90 reloads 1.30 seconds quicker than the IPM1 and still 1 second quicker than the IMP1 when used by an ace crew.
JM33 and Type 10 both do the exact same thing, but for whatever reason, you actually think there is a discernible difference gameplay-wise, also flat pen isn't that important for APFSDS, 30 and 60 degree pen stats are.
I feel the kangaroo and emu fit australia just fine, theyre on our coat of arms for a reason neither can walk backwards

I noticed after this update that russian tanks when they are getting their ammo shot its doing nothing but before this update it was a consistent 1 shot if you even shot into the general area of the ammo rack. The amount of russian hand holding is getting really frustrating. I'm not playing top tier anymore purely and simply becuase I'm so sick of getting killed by players who should died to an ammo rack shot but it now just hits their fuel rank and turns the ammo carousel orange. Russia is clearly clearly being hand held by gaijin and given an almost unfair advantage over everyone who doesn't play Russia.

On that t80B you hit ammo and it didn't blow up. It isn't really a bug or anything but when the t80 (and maybe t72 idk) carries less ammo than what fills the autoloader some of the shells just don't explode even though the ammo is still there on the xray

Why doesn't Gaijin just add a system so you can choose the lowest level you want to queue into a game with, and have the maximum level be limited to 20 levels higher than you? So new players don't face pub stompers, and people can choose not to play with people who buy into top tier and make the game unplayable? Oh, wait, they'd make some BS remark about queue times.
In reality the more knowledgeable and usually more experienced players say they would not mind extra queue times and waiting a bit longer, but in reality the large majority of players complain about the queue times if they have to wait for longer than two minutes
There are level 100 players who are bad at the game, same time there exist some low level players that play really good. MM should be based on performance/recent performance, not level.
@@katyusha1283 Never said people don't buy their way to higher levels, but this would be a middle-ground that Gaijin may consider if someone brought it to their attention. It requires almost no effort nor thought. Having to queue for performance would suck, since you wouldn't properly be able to improve if your teammates are always terrible, you may just give up as a new player. It'd be easier and in the long run better to just separate them based on levels. There are great players at all levels of the game, but this will sort them out a bit.
It's actually fun when you have all upgrades for it and you play reckless while also having a great feild of view

Literally the only tanks that explode when their fuel is hit. Not that it's realistic, they just do. They don't even burn. They just go boom most of the time.
Not to mention abysmal mobility and gun handling apart from two Soviet tanks in the entire MBT part.

I know, old video but i reckon having purchasable top tiers is a good thing, like me, that has played the game for 1k hours and still doesnt have any 11.0's can choose to play that rank if i really really want to. That and it keeps the tiers alive for that reason

M1A2 is still better, I'd say. The M829A2's reliable spall is irreplicable with any other APFSDS shell in-game.

The Kangaroos on the turret is representative of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps M1A1 AIM's and all combat vehicles within the ADF.
Every vehicle will have a Kangaroo silhouette on it somewhere.
The Kangaroo and Emu are prolific throughout the ADF in emblems as they are two native animals that can't walk backwards.
As someone who grinded till top tier I’m glade I did as their is a lot I’ve learned from lower tiers that if I bought into top tier I never would have learned

the fact that this thing is at the same br than the arietes and is better in armor, speed and while being equal in firepower and sights and there is the chance that it goes down in br because a lot of newer players are playing it just blows my mind.
They should add a lock on some premiums/squadron vehicles that unlock after you pass a certain level. That would get rid of the problem with level fives at top tier.
