Really good video. Im putting a slightly bigger profile rsj in 3.3 mtrs long myself today. Acro props in place and cleaned out, but going to be some job lifting on my own. I'm going to use raised pallets as levers each side and a plasterboard hoist. The pallets will allow the hoist to work within its safe working load.

hey guys great video I am doing a very similar work. Got my structure report done but the builder is asking £900 only for putting the bean in and let it settle for few days. But taking down the wall and tidy up the mess is not included. the price is only for putting the bean in. Do you think its a fair price? the bean measurement are 152x89x16 and the padstone 330Lx100x150

Thanks guys for this. Quick question, was this one where the wall continued all the way upsatirs, I assume it was? My understanding was you needed to use strongboys to needle above the height of the steel (i.e. above ceiling height). Or does that depend on whether the wall has perpendicular joists resting on it?

Thanks for the video!
Quick question, is there a general rule to follow when deciding how much of the beam should rest on the wall? I can see here its about a brick's length, is that the standard or does it vary based on the length of the beam? Thanks!
Thanks Ash . It’s 150 mm minimum . We generally do about 200 mm but often a structural engineer will specify it for you 👍🏽🧱
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Brilliant. Thank you!
@@mraash no probs 🧱👍🏽
Nice neat work. I wish you were my builder
Cheers 🤜🏽🤛🏽👍🏽🧱
hi lads how do you know what size steel to put in not length ways as in 6x4 etc is there a set size ,, stay safe guys
We usually put an 8x4 in as it is plenty big enough 🧱👍🏼
Depends on span and load. Although you could have a good guess it must be worked out by a structural engineer and signed off by building control

Tasty boots young man, make sure you keep them polished....I’ll be watching...🤨
Stuart Nagle So will I 🤓🧱👍🏼
For a job like that what would be your estimate minus materials? Love your videos 👍
Thanks, your looking in the region of about £300 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild wow thanks for the fast reply. We are in process of buying a house and work like this would improve the kitchen. Having no idea what work would be required to take out a wall and door section of about the same length, your video and replay make me confident this can happen alond with other works on the house. Thanks again
@@wizza88 no probs 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Great job guys , guessing you got that done in the day?, I’m always interested to see how other builders price jobs like this, will you be doing any vids of pricing?
Stephen Holloway Cheers Stephen , we don’t have any plans to do pricing videos , just practical ones 🧱👍🏼
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex can’t share the hard earned secrets 😜 👍🏻

Nice work guys, i noticed that you have removed the rsj same day, it needs to stay for at least 24-48 before removing, unless you pack it underneath with slate, not seen the slate tho, nice to see team at work, i also work with my son 👍
Rubi Kasuto Thanks pal , it’s such a gift to work with Alex 🧱👍🏼
Another good job, well done, shame you couldn't use your trench block on this one😀😀😷🥂🥂
Ian Howard 😂we did tryb🧱👍🏼
@@SteveAndAlexBuild , Steve,if I got some 40x40x2 mm aluminum box section, would that be sturdy enough for profiles? cheers 🥂
Ian Howard . I’m not sure but I don’t see why not 👌🏼🧱👍🏼

What is roughly cost to installation RSJ like this roughly ?
Every job is different so need to be seen in person to be able to quote on them 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild it's looking nearly the same how much cost this jobs if can ask thanks.
@@pitstop9905 sorry I can’t share job costs on here I’m afraid as it’s private for the customer 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild understand you think I shouldn't be fit between £2000-2500 I asking roughly just want to know roughly price to not over pay.
@@pitstop9905 . Sorry I still Mc ant help as we only do the steels . We don’t get involved with any other work 🧱👍🏽
How does two blokes lift steel hold it up aswell as getting two acros set up under steel plus that's dangerous you should never put the acro direct onto rsj metal on metal is very slippy if that slips off acro someone's dead
🧱👍🏽
Might have been a good idea to wear Hard Hats. Just in case.
🧱👍🏽
The most important moments are lost. That's not fair. (to lift. the steel beam--🤣
Mm sometimes we are busy and forget about the camera. We gave other videos where we have remembered to film it 😬🧱👍🏽
Interesting,very

Why wouldn’t you leave the last 2 acros in until the cement sets?
Charlie Shwan No need pal , I explain in the video 🧱👍🏼
Agree, strange way to do a lintel,I would be leaving in those last 2 acrows 24 even 36 hours before removing them, but then I'm old school.

@@SteveAndAlexBuild Looks like the mortar was setting in good time with the heat of the day, so you could do in that instance, different if it was colder (am i right lads?)
