Awesome video and so cool that you rescued him. I just got a super small albino bichir from Petco because I just couldn’t leave him to die there (I know they may just order more but I couldn’t help saving him and giving him a good life). I’ve been wondering if they were nocturnal hunters I’m glad you said that!
Yes nocturnal hunters, but they will still eat during the day especially if your consistent with your feeding times they will learn. I've found they are pretty smart. If you feed floating pellets for a while they will start going to the top when you feed. Senegals can be more active than other Bichirs so I hope you enjoy yours!
@@FathomAquatics Not gonna lie, he’s already my favorite fish that I’ve ever owned. They have such cool vibe and so interesting in so many ways. I was actually worried about him getting food in this massively overpopulated guppy tank but I’m taking it that quite the opposite is the norm, he should be able to eat and also snag some surplus guppy fry to keep that population in check as well.
@@FathomAquatics I thought about that lol and I was thinking maybe down the line some fast moving danios or some jewel, convict or maybe some Bolivian rams IF I wanted any tank mates. Do you think spawning cichlids would stress him out though?
i dont think they will stress it out. It will probably just eat them too. whatever fish you think are fast, that senegal will be faster. they are pretty sneaky when they hunt. they will kind of prowl real slow but they can have a small burst where they can be like a foot away in a flast so they slowly get close and just strike. ive seen senegals in facebook groups eat both rams and convicts. if its a big enough tank with hiding spots then maybe some breeding can happen but most will end up as food.
Aquariumagic will be uploading a promotion video on their channel today. Your channel is featured on it. We hope this helps promote your awesome channel 👍🐠🐟💦
Thanks a ton! I just spent like $100 of fish food myself. 2.2lbs of northfin carnivore pellets, 2.2lbs of bulk hikari cichlid gold, and this specific flowerhorn food. Im not naming it until I see if it's good or not.
Thanks for the endorsement! As far as Bichirs go, I have 2 ornates(one adult one baby), 2 endlicheris both adults, a delhezi, and now this Senegal. I had two Senegals in the past but they did not survive my last move so when I saw this post on Facebook, I wasn't planning on getting another fish but I remembered how much I really missed those Senegals and I agreed to take this one in. Happy fish keeping AdrianxAxT

Give it a few months and you might not have any guppies left

As a long time bichir keeper (majority upperjaws and ornatipinnis). This video is very factual. Plus good takes on bichir keeping 👍
