If no one got the Wii Fit Trainer reference during the incineroar trailer, I can explain. What she is essentially doing is trying to tag in incineroar like in professional wrestling where a tag team is attempting to tag his partner in from a downed state. But incineroar is denying the tag and turning his back on Wii fit trainer which is a common trope for a whestler to turn on his partner signifying a break up between a tag team. So to summarize it, Incineroar is leaving Wii Fit Trainer in the ring to suffer while the other tag team is going to fuck her up. Pretty clever Nintendo

I'm not sure if it's a meme character. Memes are, by definition, widely propagated whereas Piranha isn't. Not only that but characters are EXTREMELY limited real estate in the game, takes thousands of hours to create, and a bunch of hard work.
I highly doubt that they would put all that money, time, and effort into their flagship title .. just for a funny joke.
And it technically does take away from another character. I'm cool with him but if you think the creation of one character doesn't detract from the creation of another? Then you're not entirely sure how game creation works. Or any type of creation. Lol

There's more to it than you think though. You have to subtract Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, and Dr. Mario. They can't be in two places at once even if they count as separate characters. And then you have to add a second Inkling since they showed a male and female even though they count as one character. And then if alt costumes that are technically separate characters like Alph and the Koopalings are there then you'd have to add at least 8 more. And you could possibly even add more if the other 6 Inklings and other Villagers count. I'm sure I'm probably missing other technicalities as well. The best bet is to just do a really rough round off and say "over 700".

You ask me master hand was created by tabuu who instilled into everyone’s mind that master hand was the god of the world but MH is expendable and cloneable. Do I think tabuu is back? Yes but it actually makes sense. Very few characters could escape and all had their own reasons and issues why they couldn't.
The characters that would be able to escape the easiest are Fox/Falco, Mewtwo, Cpt Falcon, Palutena, Sonic and Kirby.
The teleporting characters are shown to be caught as they can't get far enough. Fox and Falcon are too slow in their vehicles
Palutena is a Goddess with that shield she probably thought she could deflect it and also give Pit and Dark Pit the ability to fly and escape. As you can see them falling down as soon as Palutena disappears.
Sonic could possibly outrun it but tried to help Pikachu, reaching it out with his hand. Meaning he was slowing down to help.
Leaving Kirby with his warp star that needs several minutes before it flies at the speed of light. Hence why he was flying and dodging the beams for a longer duration and vanished.
I know this is a long read. But that's because of one reason and one reason only.

You didn't get why Incineroar turned away from the Wii Fit Trainer when she had her hand stuck out? Clearly you don't watch a lot of wrestling. Incineroar is classified as the Heel Pokemon, as in Wrestling Heel, in other words, a Villain Wrestler.
The scenario was a tag team match. The Wii Fit Trainer was losing, so she was trying to tag in her Partner, who happened to be Incineroar. and being the Heel, he rejects the tag. I guess he wanted to throw the match to screw over his partner because she was a Wrestling Face. AKA, a Hero Wrestler.
