For safety reasons, you should put that fuse on the battery side of the power wire. If the power wire itself shorts on anything, the fuse in it's current location will do nothing.
...AS CLOSE TO THE BATTERY AS POSSIBLE...also I would use 10 awg wire on that sub. Maybe 8 for the skar amp. Also clean the chassis ground real good till shiny on both sides, really helps .maybe add a piece of 4AWG. these Hondas grounds are always nasty and thin

As a second-time fit owner, I always love seeing these little eggs built up. Even though mine is still stock, it's still feels like it has a similar spark to the older Civics that people cherish.

9:21 This is known as a torsion beam suspension, it's very common in front wheel drive compact cars ever since the 1970s, especially European ones. It has the advantage of being inexpensive to produce while also being a very compact setup to maximize rear cargo space and not overly compromising the ride quality. The best possible handling was of course not high on Hondas priority list for this car, it's supposed to be an inexpensive city car with as much cargo space as possible for its size, so it makes sense why they went with this.
And still, with just some better springs the Car has better handling than some newer and more expensiv Cars. This Car with 2x Hp and Nm would be as much Fun as a Miata NA with the cargo cappacity of a 2020 Focus Turnier in two Seater mode.

I've thought about doing it myself but currently the 2010 Fit Sport I own is my family car and I can't leave it inoperable for a long time. That would really be the "Fit - Type R" that we'll never ever get here in the US or probably anywhere in the world. Honda is slowly losing their magic since all the EVs have been hitting the market and side impact regulations got stricter here in the US

I drove a Fit for several years. In stock form it was a great daily driver. I got 34 mpg regardless of how I drove it and it had a lot of cargo space for the size of the vehicle. Pretty comfortable for long trips as well.

Absolutely right. A bit of trimming to fit the new speakers and they fit better than most anything aftermarket. A ring of foam around the edge where the speaker ring meets the door, and a piece of sound dampening material about 8 inches by 8 inches on the inside door skin. Works well for every install I've ever done.
I've honestly thought about switching to a Fit. I've always liked my Civics, but I delivered pizzas for a while for a place that had a fleet of '07 Fits and they handled amazingly in the winter.
Caleb the location of that amp fuse is concerning. Those fuses aren't to protect the amp, they protect the wire. Therefore the fuse needs to be as close to the battery as physically possible, that way if the wire between the battery and amp gets damaged, the fuse will blow from the short circuit rather than dump infinite amps into the chassis/wire and start a fire
Looked for a Fit a while ago when I was searching for a fun daily. Couldn’t find one in the color & MT I wanted but eventually ended up in a Fiesta ST. 5 yrs later I’m still happy with my decision but I’ve always admired those magic seats!
It’s so cool. The spacers didn’t fit but you had the tools, know how, and determination to fix them. If it was me I’d be like well screw it. I’m going to buy the right ones.
It makes no sense to kswap these, by the time you get parts it’s much more expensive than a civic shell, and by the time you reinforce the body it negates the storage space...what he’s doing is just right and then spend that kswap budget on something better

I own a 2008 Fit Sport and loved watching you upgrade your Fit. Mine has 250,000 miles on it and while the engine still runs strong, extensive rust due to 14 years of road salt will be its demise. I’d love to be able to turn my Fit into something like yours.
I’d keep a close eye on that spare tire area. First gen fits are notorious about filling that area up with water when it rains. The seam sealer Honda used on these cars hasn’t held up to the elements good at all. The seals crack letting water in when it rains. There are a ton of write ups on the FitFreak forums. I had to use RTV on mine and that seemed to fix the issue
It's called a Torsion/Twist-beam Axle. Adding that 'Sway-bar' just stiffens up the axle(less twist0. So, same effect as a conventional Anti-sway Bar on an independent spring suspension. Nice build!
Gingium - a couple tweaks on our 2009 GE8 Fit: a switched hatchback light from a CR-V/Accord (Honda part number 34265-SFE-003) so you can turn the hatchback light off and have the hatch open; front seat headrests from a 2007 Accord (the angle is significantly less severe, so your head is not forced forward), and a standard-size battery 55R instead of the proprietary 151R (use a 2009-2010 Accord battery tray), and a Morgedal twin-size foam mattress from Ikea that fits perfectly in the back. we also made a set of window-blocking inserts out of a roll of Reflectix from Lowes (just press them in) and even camped in the desert like that.

It’s called a jazz here in England. If you see one coming the other way, generally you pull over or brace for impact. Strictly for the over 65s. This looks badass though💪🏼😍🏴
As a fit owner of a year and a half no car has put such a smile on my face like my fit, sure it's slow in straight line; but on back roads and touge is a different story its an absolute weapon to drive in those settings and even in straight line the engine is so punchy and sounds great it will still make you smile! The gas mileage is pretty good and parts are abundant. In short buy a fit you wont regret. God bless :)
I've been saying it for years but the Fit is the last old school analog Honda. Fantastic car and the world is a worse place for its absence. If you go forward and do an audio system, you need to Dynamat the shit out of this thing to make it sound halfway decent. It's reverb city otherwise.
Same problem with my 8th gen civic. Had to use like 50lbs of sound deadener on the doors , door panels, trunk, & parcel shelf. Only the roof and floor pans to do next, but it's already a HELL if an improvement
That's right. I have a 2014 sonic RS manual 6 speed. It has parts from zzp and ddm works and I feel the same way. It don't get a lot of love, but that's okay I got it for me..
Something that could make a wonder of difference for these fits is sound deadening. Did it on my ge8 and its still not quiet by any means but much more pleasant to drive. Less annoying tones leaking into the cabin
I removed the center mirror on mine and really liked the better front visibility and feeling of a larger space. The 1st and 2nd gens have narrow bodies and excellent side view mirrors. They also don't have the best visibility out the back. Using a backup camera adds to this. You will however have a windshield mirror mount, but I feel like there's a mod possible here to add something more useful or aesthetically pleasing.
Nice stereo install. I am in the middle of upgrading the tunes in my '94 Miata. Alpine head unit and bridged power amp, JBL powered sub behind the passenger seat and Millennium door speakers. Just wanted to be able to hear some undistorted sounds with the top down.
How are you fitting a sub behind the passenger seat? I have an NB and Ive wanted to put a sub in but I didnt want to put it in the passenger footwell like Ive seen others do
@@rohancurtin2549 I have tried a few different subs in the trunk and passenger space of my Miata. I even had an EVL-12 in a 2.5 cubic Ft box instead of a passenger seat lol. It currently has some RF 5¼" full range speakers in the doors and two RF 3½" full range speakers in the rear deck with a ZVX8 in the trunk. Sounds really good at highway speed and I do not drive it with the top up unless I am in slow traffic in the rain.
@@rohancurtin2549 It's a compact powered sub that is made to be placed under the seats, but not possible in the Miata. JBL Basspro SL2. It's an 8" sub with 125 watts RMS amp. It fits behind the passenger seat on-end between the computer box and the trans tunnel. The Alpine KTP 445U power amp is on the floor just in front of the passenger seat under the carpet. It's 90 watts per channel RMS in bridged mode for the two front door speakers. It's so small it fits without getting in the way and it runs cool so no heat issue. The 445A model hooks up to your Alpine head unit without having to cut and connect wires, but it can't be bridged for 2 channel use and double the power without additional custom pieces. Just a small system for decent sound. Not a headbanger.

The GD8 Fit is the best Fit IMO. 1st generation GD Fits are close, they were originally the best until aftermarket support came out in mods and parts everywhere for 09-14 Fits. I wouldn't own 3rd gen and after, the body style is ugly, not sure which year they switched to CVT if you get an automatic but those are shit too
Crutchfield usually has a good list of speakers and brackets that fit if you look up your vehicle. I may have missed it, but it’s recommended to have the fuse as close to the battery as possible, in case the wire rubs and causes a direct short.
This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to see more. I wish more people would build the "unpopular" cars that no one thinks about.

The Fit is a great car. The steering is so quick it makes it fun.

Fit is a great platform. It has so much in it. I’ll love to see a much tighter suspension in the future (poly bushings and spherical tie rods)

K swaps are sum else. Cause you gotta do serious modifications. I seen where a guy had to notch his frame due to clearance issues.

The Infinity Basslink is one driven speaker, and on passive radiator. So not two subs, but a great way to get good sound from a small package.

Too many windows in the Fit, that's what makes it echo. Lots of door dampening makes it sound okay

It fits behind the passenger seat on-end between the computer box and the trans tunnel. The Alpine KTP 445U power amp is on the floor just in front of the passenger seat under the carpet. It's 90 watts per channel RMS in bridged mode for the two front door speakers. It's so small it fits without getting in the way and it runs cool so no heat issue. The 445A model hooks up to your Alpine head unit without having to cut and connect wires, but it can't be bridged for 2 channel use and double the power without additional custom pieces. Just a small system for decent sound. Not a headbanger.

The GD8 Fit is the best Fit IMO. 1st generation GD Fits are close, they were originally the best until aftermarket support came out in mods and parts everywhere for 09-14 Fits. I wouldn't own 3rd gen and after, the body style is ugly, not sure which year they switched to CVT if you get an automatic but those are shit too
I got those same speaker rings, you dont need to cut them. If you use pliers the tabs snap off like a Hershey's bar

Crutchfield usually has a good list of speakers and brackets that fit if you look up your vehicle. I may have missed it, but it’s recommended to have the fuse as close to the battery as possible, in case the wire rubs and causes a direct short.
