  • Here is some raw footage of my Polaris Sportsman plowing about 8 inches during a recent snow storm in NJ. It had more than enough power and cleaned up the driveway quickly. I have the POlaris Glacier 60". There is footage at night and during the day.

    This was all I needed to see to get a plow setup, that thing pushed the snow right out of the way no problem. I just got done shoveling, I'm over shoveling. I have the same quad, I have a winch, now for the plow and mount and I'll be good to go.

      I went from a shovel, to a snow blower, and now the plow. Along with how much easier it is to plow, the bigger piece for me is the amount of time saved to clear the driveway.

    You should plow a starting row straight, then angle the blade and work your way out to the edges, then do a final pass to clean up. By keeping the blade straight your making extra passes that are unnecessary 😉

    • @DadTechTV
      @DadTechTV  3 роки тому +2

      Totally agree. I was so eager to get out in some snow I didn’t even plan out the best process. I have some footage of a more recent storm where I angle the plow and save a lot of time without having to do additional passes. I’ve had it out more than a few times plowing now and I still have room for improvement.

    I have a Polaris ACE 570 sportsman. These things are identical to the Polaris sportsman. I bought a plow for mine a while back in the 570 has more than enough power for over a foot of snow. The first time I used it my tires were shot so I had some problems but after putting new tires on the thing was like cutting through melted butter. I had no problem with 18 inches of snow. My winch motor did blow last time I used it but that was my fault. I replaced the winch and now waiting for the next storm. It's like I'm a little kid again when I'm out there.

    I have a 2019 570 EPS sportsman. I put the 60 inch plow on mine too. it has more then enough power for plowing. only thing I recommend thou is getting a set of rear tire chains if you don't have them already. they really do help with giving you better traction. one thing you need to be careful of is that once you start to get a good pile of snow going and you keep pushing more snow on it with each snow fall there is a sensor in the front wheels that can and will get packed with snow and if it does it will trip your check engine light. there is another sensory on the front wheels that will trip the light too if your wheels are turning for too long and you are not moving because the snow stopped your forward movement. normally the light will turn off once you let the snow melt off the front end. first time this happened to me I thought I did damage to the machine so I took it in and they then told me about the sensors in the front end. so just something to keep in mind should your check engine light come on while plowing.

    For the OP...I notice you are running what looks like either a 48" or at most 52" blade. I have a Polaris 500 EFI and I have a 60" Moose Plow blade which it handles fine even in a foot of snow or more. I live in N. Saskatchewan and we get tons of snow every winter and my 500 EFI handles a 60" blade easily...so you could upgrade your blade if you wanted to take a bigger chuck each pass. Cuts down on plowing time. Just an FYI. Great video.

    • @DadTechTV
      @DadTechTV  5 місяців тому +1

      Agreed, a 60” would move more snow faster than my 52”. I got the 52” because it was what was available and the driveways I’m plowing aren’t that large. While not super beneficial for me, they told me the reason they have majority 52” plows is because they are setup to be the perfect size to plow a sidewalk in the States with a click or two to angle the blade. In the States we are required to maintain the sidewalk in front of our houses.
