The thing that makes Joe stand out are his performances. He brings it every time that he steps on stage and he is a showman more than anyone, hands down a real treat to go see. Not only is he a great player and amazing, but his studio recordings also come alive after you see him, it's must to see Joe live. Studio recordings from any artist are sterile and boring (excuse me here people a big Dead head). Live is where it is at and Joe knows how to do it.
Very hard topic to generalize without stepping on toes,Agree with Joe,guitar is still liked, but too much technical playing, wows at first, but will never win out over good songs
Indeed Joe! Its difficult to be a musician nowadays! Everyone is different and must respect eachother and learn from eachother! You are an icon of work and art @joebonamassa cheers from Portugal!🙌🏻🇵🇹
Oh come on, don't you see all the great talent out there? So many are still plug straight in and play. Joe's KTBA cruises are full of them. I have hope now that I didn't have several years ago before Joe made his way into my YT feed. My faith was restored and he has opened the door for me to see the others.
I love Joe's philosophy of life. He's has such vast knowledge but I'm gonna disagree with one statement. I have seen him several times and I do record when something amazing is happening. I watch other peoples videos of him as well. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with getting views and likes at all! Joe's performances are like catching lightning in a bottle. He will play something he's never played before and probably won't again that's what is AMAZING about Joe. I think a lot of us are trying to hold on to a once in a lifetime occurrence. Just like he talks about the footage of another hero of his that he has said he's watched over 100 times. (I can't remember exactly but Albert Collins is what my brain keeps coming up with) So many videos by concert goers never have many views or likes. I uploaded the bit when he was introducing the options the audience had when he was about to do Self Inflicted Wounds. It was hysterical and I'm so glad I captured it. Snapshot of Joe in all his glory and snark is priceless. I went back to look at it just now and it has several likes and 2 comments. I had no idea because its uploaded to an older account I use very little. The comments were thanking me for capturing that moment in time that they would never have seen otherwise.
Long gone are the days when thousands of lighters were lit and the smell of weed permeated a concert. The music business was always rotten. Now it's rotten to the core.
What youtube is turning into is the old guard flooding the algorhythym so the young people I see who can play better honestly get bumped right off the map here, Lol, Rick Beato is guilty of this crap, plus He sais wheres the new bands while hosting steve luthaker or steve morse, Lol,
I find many new guitarists, and many from 3 decades ago I never heard of because of UA-cam. The ones I like the algorithm pushes to me, the artists I don’t like fade away.
I enjoy videos where Joe talks about gear and technique. But when it comes to song writing, he hasnt written any great songs. Which explains why he is at a loss for words in explaining how the modern song writing process works. Because he made his career as a neo-blues guitarist and just tried to put a modern spin on old blues. Joe would do well to just pack up the whole 'I was born a poor white blues boy' schtick and just be what he really is which is a rock guitarist and start writing good 70s era rock songs, which is what he is best at.
I'm sure you know what's best for his career, he's been making all the wrong choices so far. You can tell by the millions of dollars worth of guitars and amps he fills his 3 houses with.
That Asian 4 year old kid is the best blues player in the world. Joe, along with all those mediocre session guys in Nashville are just posing. Embarrassing.
Love the guy, his collections, playing, knowldege, but Dont know a single original song by him. And I didn't like any of the album i tried to listen to. Best blues teacher and epiphone sig guy on the internet, though lol
Class is in session with Professor Joe. Not only is he a guitar master, he's an insightful thinker.
That 4 year old Asian kid is better.

Joe is by far my favorite current/modern guitar player.

Seen him 2x and both were different & incredible & being a guitarist myself for decades & seeing him play and the energy is incredible 🤘🎸🤘
I can’t stand live albums. Or how sloppy bands are live. Studio recordings are perfect

What a moronic comment. Your ego and ignorance is on full display.

Joe has the blues because he doesn't own all of the best guitars in the world, only half of them.

Joe is a titanium Swiss Army knife of guitar! He can do it all ! But he is very similar to Gary Moore
