You play offense, you play defense, period. They teach you this in little league. The DH is an abomination, and it's a disgrace to the game that the NL adopted it.

Starters are very rarely the most valuable players, the fact that DeGrom absolutely should've won the 2018 NL MVP is actually more remarkable given that he's a pitcher. At this rate he'll get his MVP this year though.

Revisiting this, it’s kind of astounding all the accolades rattled off, but proof that two way players can carry their teams to a win in baseball which goes against everything we are taught about the game.
He should get top dollar, having him on the mound practically guarantees a win with the 100 mph fast balls and insane ball control he has. The icing on the cake is he can also provide support to the teams offense which is rare for a pitcher.

Just some food for thought. Randy Johnson won 4 cy youngs after turning 35. deGrom is 32 and started pitching late so his arm has a lot less mileage than the average 32 year old pitcher. Also has an effortless delivery.
