Hi Terri, unfortunately that is the nature of the beast, decomesh frays are a struggle! Do you seal your decomesh? Also using a razor sharp tool to cut it will help with this issue :)

You don't have to paint it, you can wrap it in fabric or leave it bare :)
What size ball did you use for the head? Thank you!
3-4" across is about the right size :)
You might be able to find at Hobby lobby, so try looking there ok.

When I make the petal, the petal at the top where you put it under the zip tie has alot of frays

Use a wood burner really spots the fraying alot!!!
