I sift like you but i put longer boards for handling, back and forth sifting. I only sift for selling compost. I need to put a motor on it. Good information.

    The sifted compost looks great!
Do you do anything to prevent weed or food seeds when feeding weeds/scraps to your chickens?

I try to hot compost to reduce the weed seed load but not all of the compost that comes from the yard reaches the thermophyllic range. Thanks! 😉

Looking great!! This is my first year growing borage. It has done well, and although not expecting it to return as we are in zone 5, I'm seed ready to plant next year.

Would you consider Borage a good biomass support crop?

For sure. However It does not regrow in the same way as Comfrey. Once you cut it back hard it tends to not regrow. It's a true annual without the root structure to support such regrowth. It is a better as pollnator/ edible but could be used for biomass. Better options for that in my opinion. I generally feed the biomass to livestock or compost. Thanks for the question.
