actually a semi cannon fight, Theodens ancestor Fram slew the dragon Scatha and took his hoard, which had previously belonged to the dwarves of Gundabad. They may have later retaliated and slain Fram.
Those yellow ice betrayed Rohan. The green. Dice rolled great, great battle report.

I'm taking my 'like' from this video back for saying at the end bad things about dwarves and spreading false info that nobody likes them, while it's quite opposite. Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!
Durin had to move first Ash, so couldn't charge grimbold. You moved the with me guy's first clearing a path. Sorry to rules police but you did call Owen on it :)
You must end your move 6" from durin heroic move, and Durin move first when he called heroic move, king also must declare heroic march at the begining of move phase ;)

Ao is not the "big god" in Lord of the Rings. It's Illuvatar, also called Eru, the one. Ao, I think, is forgotten realms. Also, Aulë is pronounced "OW-lay" (not, a-YOOL). /pedanticcommentaryfinished (although I believe the one dude said he was a huge Lord of the Rings nerd...and while pronunciation of the Valar can be forgiven, ANY LotR dork worth his salt should know that the big god of Arda is Illuvatar/Eru, and not Ao. I mean, come on, the Silmarillion opens with "There was Eru, the One, who in Arda is called Illuvatar.")
thought the dwarfs were way out numbered but dang are those dwarf's strong. Love these videos got me wanting to start playing this game but gotta plan what to buy

Why didn't Owen take his all mounted force and just sit out of range and kill the Dwarfs slowly with the bow fire? Moving in and feeding the infantry to the Dwarfs didn't seem to be effective and was playing to the Dwarfs strengths.
I feel like skirmishing is like a lost art form =/. even GW is making it less viable since they keep coming out with buffs for rohan to stay in combat and charge in.
Because it's a super lame way to play and it makes the game dramatically longer.

At 20.40 minutes how many Moves did the Dwarf declare? Because to me it looks like he cheated since he know that Heroes move first and he knows that the effect range is 6.

Technically there are also Iron Hill Dwarves as a separate faction.
For throwing weapons, when throwing before you charge a character would you not +1 to hit because you moved?

With the new rules you don't get penalised with throwing weapons you don't get -1 for moving anymore.
Im nearly positive you still take the -1 you can just move full distance with throwing weapons.

Can be, don't has to be ^^ Skirmishes are usually around 500-600 points and perfect for a fast&fun 1 hour game.
You can go as big as you want, me and my buddy have recently been doing 2000 point games with around 250ish models on the board. And thats suuuuper small compared to what were planning for helms deep. We play over the coarse of a few days tho mostly after work taking breaks after every other turn or so

Rohan doesn't need to rush into the fight. Shoot and move, strike when they are weakened.
Back in the day my (then) wife and I made resin bases through Ironhalo Painting, and i still have a bunch of War of the ring bases (and the molds). Happy to send you some if you like.
Several mistakes that made the battle quite advantageous to the dwarves.
1. When cav charges an infantry model they get +1 attack. When they win the fight the infantry model goes prone and therefore counts as being trapped. Theoden would get 2+1 attacks, if he wins that would've been 6 attacks in total (to be dealt in pairs of 2)..
2. When calling a heroic combat the hero needs to move first. Which means Durin's heroic move would not have been possible.
3. You call heroic actions (move/march and combat/fight) at the beginning of the respective phase. You can't just call a heroic march when it's that model's turn to move.

Are rohirrim just bad? It feels like quality just wins over quantity in this game.
Rohan can be very good, the list Owen brought is just pretty weak and doesn't take advantage of Rohans key strengths. Plus he played it pretty badly to be honest, shouldn't be charging straight into a front line of elite dwarves with footsloggers. You need to soften them up as much as possible before hand, there's a reason Rohan gets more Bows than the average army. He also tried to outflank with some of his riders who didn't show up into the fight until the very end which was a good tactic on paper but wasn't thought through well enough to see it'd take them too long to arrive.
Lack of skills, Riders of Rohan supossed to do the first charge, with +1S +1F they are equal to Iron Guards, instead they were behind the line.
you REALLY want a good cluster of royal guard.
Evil usually does hordes better though as you can toss a troll (or balrog) into it. Albeit evil also has a pile of super high quality infantry too.

I don’t understand why GW made Rohan so utterly bad on the table considering how good and heroic they were in film.
they aren't bad at all, that dwarf army is just very tough to wound, it's an unfortunate matchup
Its all about strategy man, i have been playing rohan for many years and now is very, very powerful. Heroes win some amazing buffs and the cavalry... they have royal guard of rohan in horse, they got fight 5 in charge (12" from theoden) and strength 4 also when they charge.
Yeah, the rohirim are a super solid force, dwarves are just a sore matchup against em if you dont pick your fights well
You could tell that there was a huge gap of knowledge between the two players. The Rohan one did not know the rules that well and to me it seems that the opponent cheated on a Heroic move at 20.40 minutes. I might be wrong but that is what it seems to me.
300Songs Yep, durin should have moved the first one, but i understand these are unvolunteer mistakes, the last edition i think you are not obligate to move the heroe first, now you are.
It was a long time since I last saw Owen deserve the name "The Cooler"... but it seems his dice rolls are back in Middle Earth. :D
