- I check my cabin air filter every time I change my oil and replace it as needed. I like to get the OEM part from the dealership but if the dealership OEM part are to expensive. I also have order them from Amazon after market are not as good but are a cheaper option. If your Engine air filter gets dirty replace it with something and if you don’t know how or find this to be a bit complicated. Any parts store 🏬 will give you a hand and will help you install and OEM or After market product with similar specs. Regular maintenance will keep your car running for 300,000 mile or more.

I highly recommend that. I myself forget so I have a 3 month reminder on my Google Calendar because this can be easily overlooked.
Actually you can mess it up. I you buy an aftermarket cabin filter they usually say air flow next to the arrows. Air flow arrows should point down in the direction of air flow.
All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow including Toyotas.
This OEM filter has arrows. Toyota put the arrows on the filter holder and on the filter cover because people mess it up. Toyota has it labeled so you don’t mess it up. This is why I would highly recommend buying and OEM Filter and installing it to match the arrows on the filter holder and it only goes in 1 way so you do put upside down also the cover will not go on upside down and the arrows on it are made to be followed. The design of the Toyota air ducts and the air flow. Are made for their products in mind. To make your vehicle last the longest without having any major repairs if you follow their instructions. I also checked for any TSBs Technical Service Bulletins, SB Service Bulletin’s, the manual and and advance service manual from Toyota. It all say to follow the labeling on the filter holder and filter cover. You can always mess anything up. Toyota makes it really hard for people to mess up and yet people will not follow the engraved arrows on the plastic filer holder and filter cover. 😊
