- In this video, I will walk you through how to play To The Moon by the progressive metal / progressive rock band Arch Echo on the drums. I break down Richie Martienez's drum parts for the first few sections of this song, talk about how to play each section, and then talk a little bit about what non-progressive players can take away from learning some of these concepts. I hope you enjoy this lesson and gain a deeper appreciation for a very technical and complex style of music.

Great video, thanks so much for taking the time. Richie Martinez is his name. Gonna purchase the drum transcript from their band camp and give it a crack.
How absolutely sick is the breakdown around 1:50-2:30 so much metric modulation haha.
This is the first time I had ever heard him play. I did not realize there was a transcription on the band camp. I should pick it up and see how close I got in my transcription. I know I missed a lot in mine, I only had so much time to devote to this little project, and there is so much going on in the music. I was really blown away! so good.

Thanks man, I did what I could in the time that I had available this week. This was a tough one to breakdown because everything moves so fast and you have to listen through all the complex rhythms to the drums. It would have been helpful if I could have seen what the drummer was doing instead of just hearing it. I think I got close enough, I am sure he plays a lot of ghost notes and cymbal crashes that I missed. :)
