  • In this drum lesson, I will teach you how to play a really nice sounding sixteenth note triplet based lick using a splash cymbal that Eric Moore played in this video: • Eric Moore Sound check...
    I will break down the lick and then show you some ways that you can add this fill into your own playing.

    Great Job just to help you out and give you The correct Hi Hat part. It’s triplet and then 5 stroke roll on Hi Hat on the second part of groove. The reason it’s played like that is to leave space for the singers vocals and also accenting what the Guitar player is doing. The reason why a lot of drummers can’t find what I play useful for them is because they don’t truly know all styles of music and only play 8th notes and Quarter notes on the hi hat while keeping time and adding a simple fill here or there. We can all play drums but it’s a difference when you take your drumming to a musical stand point and turning the drums into more than just a background instrument that keeps time. Great video. 🙏🏾 hope this inspires you all.

      Eric MooreII thanks so much for watching my video. I have been watching you since you did those collabs with Mike Johnston back in the day on mikelessons.com. I have always appreciated your musicality, you have amazing chops, but you don’t just use em for no reason. Thanks for the help and the kind words. I agree with drums being musical, I have always tried to be a musical player and love guys and gals who approach the drums from that perspective. Thanks again Eric. 🙏

    Cool lesson! Also pretty rad that we both put our rack toms and ride in the same orientation (shifted left). :P

    • @MikeLevitsky
      @MikeLevitsky  3 роки тому

      Yes, I played a 4 piece forever, so it felt most natural to keep the ride close by, and add the tom to the left. It's my favorite setup.
