There was no पेशवा during the time of Shivaji Maharaj.

It's so unfortunate that quite a few Irani joints shut down over the years...Naaz (Pune Camp), Lucky (just a few mtrs away from Goodluck). They used to be institutions in their own right.
Yes Lucky has shut down but Naaz is still there if I am not wrong..

I have so many memories of this area as I was myself a student of symbi law school. However when it comes to authentic parsee restaurants, I'd say Dorabjee's is probably the best in Pune.

I was a regular visitor there and lucky also which is closed now. Lots of memories here.
Visited here 2 months ago and tried idli sambhar. I liked their chutney. Chai was good too. I would have liked to explore more stuff there. Overall good place for quick food.

We had a good number of irani restaurants here in Karachi when I was a student in the 1950s food was delicious i remember that maska bun mutton chops and brain masala your video brought back memories of my favourite place

Their chicken and mutton Biryani were also famous. In the good old days of the 60s they used to employ Malabar Chefs. They were very good. I do not know the situation now. Great coverage.

Hygiene is a major concern at GLC
Its one of the best place in Pune to hangout.
Many Sundays few of us friends used to meet here having Bun Cheese Masala Omlette, Tea Bun Maska. Despite it is packed staff here is very friendly. Now Pune has many Biryani joints but in 90s & before Biryani, Chicken Curry handi from GoodLuck used to be hit item in parties.
Best part besides food I like with Goodluck; despite its a good running hotel they still maintained their old decor. Specially table you were sitting on, you'll notice names carved on it. They maintained their nostalgic feel.
Also it is sadly true, Many Irani cafes got closed in Pune. Few like -
Cafe Sunrise again at Deccan.
Lucky on the same road now where R Deccan is. This used to be hangout for FTII students.

With all due respect I understand this review is subjective opinion and I really admire the work Rocky is doing for years now. However I'm a punekar and I have eaten the paneer bhurji here and guys trust me it's not worth the amount they are charging and please don't take me wrong, I'm not talking about quantity I'm talking about the flavour, it's way too bland. Simply turmeric and green chill with no balance of either butter or masala. If you really want to have a delicious paneer bhurji from a Irani type cafe then without hesitation try Irani cafe's paneer bhurji it's superb!
Since 1969 Goodluck Cafe is my favorite.

Pune WAS NOT AT ALL the Capital from 1674, as mentioned.
Shivaji Maharaj got coronated in 1674 at RAIGAD.
After the death of Shahu Maharaj, the then Peshwa, Nanasaheb shifted the capital to Pune in the 1740s.
The King remained a Titular head in Satara
one of my most favorite places... u should have tried Kheema Matar, anda chutney and tawa chicken... just too good!
I believe the cafe management has changed now...
We need your view more on the items at the Cafe..on taste etc..
Not a single table where we would have not ate in the cafe,
friends living all around pune would gather here on weekends for brunch
