I've recently started co-operation with Tactical Foodpack. You can now get this SOS Food Supply bucket or any other meal with 10% discount using code TAIVAL10 tacticalfoodpack.com/ref/taival/ So to be absolutely clear, this video was not and is not sponsored.
They taste so good. For this kind of food they are really tasty. They are quite expensive tho, but if you like to hike for a longer period of time, then those are really good to take with you. Also sometimes when it's a busier period, I take one of those to office for a lunch.
"and bacon and bacon and bacon" I love that bucket too, and can't wait to see that innovative fire pot. AND organic meals? I don't think it's so expensive. I'm a fan of Finnish and all things Finnish. I wish I could just walk into a store and grab one of these. Very nice video. Kiitos, and sisu, from Vermont
Doesn't take many hikes when buying a good drier makes more sense. The price is still quite crazy considering I eat around 4500 kcal a day if Im hiking like 20km a day
Yeah I have a good drier as well, I tend to combine my own stuff with these. I can never reach the same amount of calories as I'm burning on longer hikes since I'm not a big fan of sweets and chocolates, and there's only so much trail mix a man can tolerate in a day :D It's maximum two of these pouches per day or three if I'm using their breakfast as well (plus then other foods). It's fast, convenient, gives variety and comes in a good package so I don't have to get my pots dirty and I can use these same pouches to heat up other meals or use them as thrash bags.
You can actually boil water even in a plastic bag over an open flame, which surprises a lot of people. It´s physics.. the heat is tranfered to the water thru the plastic on the outside. As long as the bag is open at the top and full of water it really won´t melt. I have looked at those same foodpackages and they look ok but havent bought or tasted them yet. The one concern i have is the rather low calorie content. Three bags (24 h ration) is around 1500 or so Kcal per day, that is not enough for a grown man, not even close. I would look at adding other calorie-rich sources to those. Peanuts, powerbars, chocolate etc.. to get to atleast 2500 kcal a day. If moving with a backpack i would want to be even higher, something like 3500 kcal per 24 hours. My "goto" would be the Swedish "24h meal" bags (the military version). They are really expensive, but they do get you the amount of calories needed. www.utemat.se/24hmeal/ criseq.se/produkt-kategori/nodmat-och-tillbehor/faltranson-maltidspasar/ and the company itself: www.24hmeal.se/sv/ you can choose between freeze dried and wet-bags that are ready to eat as is (mostly you have to buy from other sources, but sometimes they have really good discounted products on the company page). Looking forward to watching a taste-test of the Tactical foodpacks.
Yeah it's an old survivalist trick to boil water inside a coke bottle too. Not worth the risk in most cases though. These freeze dried / dehydrated meals are usually around 500-600 kcal per pouch, if you see any bigger numbers then it's due to added palm oils and such. So yeah, definitely agree with you there that the pouches alone are never enough.

@@jarimaki-runsas4861 No, keep in mind it is a military ration for arctic conditions. A soldier needs a lot of calories. For civilian use I would not buy it, too expensive.

I felt that one.

It is for one person for one day. Eli suomeksi = yhdelle hengelle yhden vuorokauden annos.
@@mattimatkalainen Isn't too much for one person?

Varuste.net sells this Kermainen lohipasta.
The accessory pack seems to be a bit like a bad joke.
Yeah, that's why I considered it as a bonus.
