It doesn't feel like four years have passed since Persona 5 was originally released in 2016. Atlus' PlayStation 4-exclusive RPG developed a fervent fanbase and, thanks to their efforts, the title has remained an ever-present part of gaming culture. Persona 5 is a game that, in more than a few ways, was built to linger in the mind and stay in conversations. It's themes and subject matter are complex and its characters are nuanced. Everything from their visual design, to their personalities and their place within the story resonated with people on a meaningful level.
It can't be easy, then, to go back and introduce something new. Changing something that such a huge number of people have fallen deeply in love with is a daunting challenge, but to have that change be a brand new character placed at the center of the story is a potentially overwhelming one. But that's exactly what Atlus has done for Persona 5 Royal, and the task of designing the new character fell upon Shigenori Soejima.
Soejima has defined the Persona series as we know it and, many of gaming's most recognizable characters are from his mind. In this episode of Audio Logs, Soejima shows us exactly how he approaches creating a new character. More specifically, how he created Kasumi, the newest member of the Phantom Thieves, who makes her debut in Persona 5 Royal.
From the inspirations for her profile, to the fairy tale aesthetic of her Persona, Cendrillon, Soejima breaks it all down. The legendary designer puts a great deal of thought into even the smallest details and to be given insight into the thinking behind them is a rare treat, check it out above.

Shigenori Soejima is one of my favorite artists and this interview was amazing! I loved his explanation on his process on designing Kasumi and all of the details put into her Persona like the clock and ivy decorations!
That's amazing how Soejima-san thinks on such a detailed level for all his character designs! I love how he also refers to his previous designs to show how his way of thinking traces even all the way to back then. Essentially, it's confirmed that Kasumi's Phantom Thief was intentionally made to be a feminine take on Joker's outfit even if she's not a protagonist like the female protagonist from P3P. Even with Cendrillon's design, that's so cool he would place the pumpkin carriage's intricate designs into the Persona's dress.
soejima really is a genius, His stuff is always gorgeous to look at. i would have never gotten into this series if it wasn’t for its art and its music.

the funny thing is that he and the other artists on the Persona team are very conscious about not making their designs too over-sexualized (they talk about it in the book "Shigenori Soejima & P-Studio Art Unit: Art Works 2"). but when I read that, I couldn't help but think of the inevitable lol

Wait, why does Soejima keep referring to Joker as "Shujin"? Doesnt that mean "prisoner"?
Could also be the Japanese term for protagonist that sounds incredibly close to that. I know they both start with Shu- and have very similar pronunciations.

Small budget game charging us full 60 dollar triple a standard price sometimes it can go even higher than 60 Dollar with steal case cover.. But the good thing is the game doesn't look like a low budget game with alot of content on persona 5 royal... To be honest persona art style and cell shaded graphics is far more better than dragon quest 11 triple A budget jrpg with expensive unreal engine 4...atlust developers are very talented .. But expensive..hehehe.. They charge more than any triple a games in dlc content
