As I heard Liam O'Brien say in a panel once "FB!". The awesome script that Stacey really sets the demo apart from any other out there. Just wrapped up voicing my commercial demo with Chuck last Friday. Stacey's scripts and Chuck's abilities are from friggin outer space or something. And to any budding audio engineers out there, take note of Chuck's monitor setup. Tweeters out, baby!

Oh, man! This is hands down the most INSPIRING VO video I've watched in the last 2 months!!! Thank you SO MUCH for posting this (a year and a half ago) ! :-) During these last two months of VO business research, I've had a nagging suspicion that something was missing. When I got to the end of this video and shook my head like I'd been asleep. I woke up and began remembering back when using my voice was just - simply - FUN! This video has cracked the code for me. Since watching this 2 weeks ago, I've gone to a nearby park every day at lunchtime (I work a full time job...I'm an IT professional), put egg-crate foam up in the windows of my car, whipped out my mic, tablet, and the edgestudio practice scripts, and have joyfully recorded 7-9 scripts every day! Then I spin them up in Audacity at about 9pm and practice editing them. I'm having so much fun! And at 52 years old, it's about time that started happening again. :-) I can't wait to get some stuff sold on ebay so I can contact you to produce my demo! If you feel like it, you can look up "Bill Hagen" over on voices com and listen to my fledgling attempts, or just wait until you get my call. It's so nice to "be back"...I feel like I've been gone way, way too long. Thank you for being the straw that broke the back of my somberness! :-)

As I'm watching JB do his thing what gets me excited is that he is able to kill the copy in his natural tone, although he also kills the American accent. I'm really looking fwd to Stacey's scripts. I love how you guys cater the spots to the talent. Thank you for letting me be myself!... hard to find spots in primetime with my wheelhouse. Love you guys!

Kali Celeste No. when starting out your first demo should be a commercial demo.
Hey guys, I'd love some help. I'm trying to record my own voice reel and want to know where you can get music/effects for the reel?
Not sure, All the music we use for demos is 100% Licensed.
A good place to look is Audioblocks, they have a massive library for a pretty affordable price. I use them for the demos I produce and I'm rarely left without a wealth of options.

Are u using a side chain, or compressor with the background music and the vocal? I noticed in the demo. The voice gets louder and music fades at the peak of vocals. And are u crossfading in between transistions. Any tips I have a home studio with (studio one 4 is my d.a.w. )
Tino Martinez No side chain. I’m actually mixing the spot that way so the have movement. Yes I’m cross fading between spot to make transitions as seamless as possible.

I am wondring how you bring the clarity the thicknes and the reachness of the vo to this level.. I have mkh416 and I have never get the same clarity out of it.. do you have a totorial in how you process the vo?
Thank you. I do have a process but it’s basically an Avalon 737 preamp with a little extra secret sauce. :)
