  • So you want to get stuff done, but don’t know how to get things done easily? The one minute rule (or 1 minute rule) is a simply productivity hack that can help you break bad habits like procrastination and learn how to get stuff done fast.

Love this technique. You simply trick your brain into thinking the task is super easy and doable and by the time the 1 minute timer is up, there’s a high chance you’re going to want to keep going because you’ve already entered into the "flow state".

Always try to pick one or two small things that you can complete each day; they are small victories but they ARE victories and give you a sense of completion and accomplishment.

I’ve oft stopped after a few minutes. Just the other day it happened with/when folding clothes.
My tasks take far too long, and it’s partly because of perfectionism, from which I am “deprogramming”.
That’s the duality of Perfectionism...It becomes Procrastination.

Thank you for making this video. I did something similar with TY notes I was late getting written & mailed. I decided to sit down to write every day until I caught up, even if I completed just one a day. The first day I was able to write 2 in the few mins I had before leaving for an appointment. I made sure to mail them that day, too, and it felt so good! This morning I had even less time but was still able to write 1 and drop it in the mail when I returned from an appointment. I haven’t watched your whole video, and you may touch on this later, but I think
my brain is enjoying a dopamine surge every time I sit down to write, and another when I drop them in the mailbox! I’m proud of myself for thinking of this method on my own. Next I’ll try it on something that’s important but not time sensitive-piles of papers on my desk that need to be sorted, filed, and/or tossed. Wish me luck! 😅

What a great video 👍 one quote that I have burnt into my brain that I find really useful and true is: “don’t do it when you feel like doing it, do it- and then you’ll feel like doing it”- Zig Ziglar. How true that is, it takes forever to start a task, but when you do, you don’t wanna stop

  • @Natashahoneypot

Time using stop watch on your phone:
1 minute choose a task. Visualise doing the task.
    1 minute prepare task
    1 minute execute task.
    1 minute celebrate.
1 minute list next section of task.
1 minute execute new section of task.
    1 minute celebrate.
If 1 minute turns to 20 minutes celebrate 20 mins.

You might as well take it to the next step and do whatever you have to do immediately after you know you have to do it. Of course, if the chore is taxing it is good to take a break but doing everything immediately makes it so you never worry about it because it is already done. Either do it immediately or you will experience emotional pain in addition to having to do it.

    • @rajeshr6511
      @rajeshr6511 4 роки тому

Agree with that. When you are checking email, you can still apply this one minute rule. Most of the emails may just need a yes/no reply or some brief info we already have in mind. Respond to it as soon as you finish reading it, only those that need more thought-out response to be kept for later. This way you clear off the mailbox faster.

She’s over-reacting!” But right now I have 9 huge tasks on my to-do list. Those things include, finishing a video, making my classmates as Cuphead bosses, making human genderbent versions of Cuphead bosses (because I’m bad a drawing guys and most of the Cuphead bosses are guys), making 2 videos on UA-cam into Gacha Club style, and even making a FREAKING GAME! So yeah, I’m kinda stressed 🤣🤣🤣 and I’m still getting nothing done :/
Your also probably wondering how all these things piled up and why I can’t just remove them from my to do list, right? Well how they get piled up is my ability to see someone do something cool and go “OOoooOoOooO! I wAnNa TrY tHaT!” And then starting, running out of motivation and putting it off because my head hurts, my stomach hurts, I’m stressed, I’m tired, I’m sad, and ITS A FRIKIN WEEKDAY, then I put it on my to do list and then I can’t scrap it because it’s on a to do list now and I have to finish it XD. So please help me, I need help with being motivated lol. And sorry for this comment being so long 😅

I'm sure that folks with large families can.benefit much more than I do by using a dishwasher.
Although I have one it only gets ran through a cycle on average once a month. Then I only run it to keep it operational and to keep water in the p-trap of the drain.
My ex worshipped it and crusty dishes etc. Filled the sink and sat on the counter.
She left almost 2 years ago and the dishes she took with her were the problem. These dishes from garage sales stay clean because I make one hell of a mess cooking even though there is just one of me so to keep the kitchen halfway clean( enough to prepare and eat food) to suit myself I order my slave (myself) to clean up every time. I am not the best housekeeper by any stretch, but I try when.it comes to the kitchen and bathrooms. My dog don't complain, and I don't bite him.
