I'm so glad how influenced Japanese punk rock was by bands like The Ramones and The Blue Hearts. They sing about things with heart, being dissatisfied with society, and lost relationships. I think American punk was moreso influenced by Black Flag and the cynical underground hardcore scene that was made up mostly of kids with a "I'm punker than you" mentality, so after some time, they became very disjointed and superficial. It's like you can't even like a mainstream punk band in America now without getting shit for it.
