What crazier to think about is that in some canons the foundation has WEAPONIZED pataphysics
if I remember one of the better explanations of this was as follows:
Imagine that Stan Lee Writes a new character in the Marvel Comics world. the story for this character is simple, he is a Novel writer. So Stan Lee Is writing A story about a man writing a story. Stan Lee can change the marvel world however he may wish. He can erase something and change events entirely. or can create people on a whim. He can control the actions of every Character inside the Marvel Universe. He is arguably a God compared to the marvel world. That character who writes novels however is exactly the same. That character who writes novels, can do the same to his novels. He can change that novels universal history, create new people, so on. it can be argued that if Stan Lee can control the actions of the Novel Writer, Then Stan Lee can ALSO control the world of the Writers novel with the same level of control that he has over Marvel.
The argument comes in that, if We are able to affect stories below us. who is to say that we ourselves are not a story, that there isn't a "Writer" above us who can change our history, our memories, our "Stories", who can change Our universe with as much control as Stan Lee had over the world of Marvel. Who is say that we are not the Novel Writer, and that Metaphorical "Stan Lee" sits above us writing, changing our story as they please.

It's basically the concept of 'sub-creations' that C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien talked about.
@@brigidtheirish Rather Similar from the things i just read about that, I figure there may be some minor differences but rather Similar. Only big-ish difference is that in the SCP universe it seems to scale in BOTH directions infinitely, or at least, functionally it is infinite. A hero in a Book is controlled by the Novelist, that is Controlled by a Comic Writer, That may be controlled by an even higher entity, and it may continue for an eternity. Free will starts to become a muddled concept because these scaling ideas bring the possibility that the one that controls your "free will" may not be free themselves.
@@Meanslicer43 The difference mainly lies in Lewis and Tolkien's assumption that our reality is the one being directly written by God and them not bothering with levels beyond the stories they direction write. Basically, Lewis and Tolkien codified the theory and the SCP writers expanded on it.

Ah Pataphysics one of my favorite concepts in the SCP universe. If you want to learn more I suggest reacting to the Exploring explain series video on SCP 6747, though do be warned it’s a part of a series of other SCPs with it being the second part.
Stuff like this gives me anxiety whenever I'm creating characters for a story.
i always feel bad for killing off characters but i never ever remove them from their respective canon. now i definitely wont
@@Patch_5 Does make me want even more to kidnap certain characters from their copyright holders with the ransom being "let them be happy," though.
@@brigidtheirish does that make them travel from their universe or clone them? real questions here
@@Patch_5 I don't know. It'd partially depend on the temporal relationship between universes, I think. Also whether the "kidnapping" was done in such a way that the original copyright holders lost access to the characters.
