    Great tutorial!
    Does it work with the color checker passport photo in Davinci resolve or does it have to be the video version?

      As long as it matches up with whatever checker you're using, then it's all good.

      The classic - legacy has the same colors in order as the passport photo

    Your original shot looks like it has already been graded since it has got a lot of color. What did you do with the original footage when you imported it to DaVinci? Added a LUT?

    • @GreenGoatProductions

      Not sure sorry, long time ago. I'd say I probably just do a colour space transformation to get to that stage. Or a Lut, sorry not sure

    Hey man! Thanks so much for this! Would this also work well if I'm shooting Sony SLOG2?
    For example, in that format I've always had a hard time with the issue being my colors having a green shift/hue. Manually trying to fix that issue has never worked well, until I was able to make a decent LUT a while back / Change the color space in the Picture Profile settings itself.

      It should work fine. Try working in a large colour space than rec 709, either with colour space transform or colour management in settings. Make sure your colour checker is set up properly when filming too. No glaring on the Board, close to your subjects face and nothing blocking the board.

    ??? So do I use the color checker in every shot or do I color check one clip in a set of same time clips and copy the attributes?

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  3 місяці тому +1

      It depends. If you're lighting conditions are changing. If your lighting Is staying the same In. Scene. Then one only

    As always, great video, thank you. Quick question, if I may to anybody, if I set up the camera and I'm taking lots of takes in the same place in position, do I need to do the colour check it every time I start a new recording? If no, how do I then get the colours to match on the subsequent clips?

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  Рік тому +1

      That depends on a few things. If the lighting isn't changing and the camera settings are the same you don't need to do a colour checker. You can simply copy across the shot that has the colour checker in it. Then all your shots should be well balanced. Cheers for watching and commenting.

    Im new to colors. Here is my question. If I have a scene where the camera isnt static and the lighting changes, am I right to assume that the colorchecker will become useless? Also what can I do on events where I cant give the guests a colorchecker vefore capturing the moment?

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  7 місяців тому

      I wouldn't say the colour checked would be useless, you could balance to that and see how you go.
      As I wouldn't give guests a colour chequer, you can just balance the image, using your offset and other main wheels etc. Cheers for the comment, hope it helps.

    I've seen some videos of people using the colour checker video to determine the amount of saturation (putting the primary colours in the little squares on the videoscope). For me, though, the video seems to be too saturated when I follow this process. Can I please ask if you've tried it? Thanks.

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey mate, I haven't actually tried that. That's interesting though, I might give that a try. Cheers mate

    Thanks for that mate! My main problem usually is that I can't get it to work when I'm trying to balance different cameras with different gammas, say clog2 and clog3 for example. For same camera and gamma is alright but different cameras my results are always all over the place for some reason :(

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  Рік тому

      Yeah that is tricky. What is your colour management set to? You might wanna give Aces a try if DWG isn't working for you. Let me know how you go

    • @keyspacemedia
      @keyspacemedia Рік тому

      @@GreenGoatProductions thank you. I usually use Davinci YRGB Color Managed and DWG intermediate. But even bypassing the color management, I struggle to get good results when trying to match two different cameras with different gamma curves. If I shoot in the same gamma, it's alright and I just need to do a few adjustments to skin tones etc. But I'll give ACES a try someday! (Or get more of the same camera :) )

    Thanks for tutorial, but do you know how to reverse white balance process in resolve, because sometime I want to color correct with macbeth and then add CG to it, now I need to make it back to the WB of raw shot.

      @@GreenGoatProductions Yes, I'm a vfx artist, and I'm looking for a way to reverse the adjustments of a previous node, for example in nuke after I white balance it, I can duplicate it and then click on the invert box to go back to the color before it was white balanced

    • @GreenGoatProductions
      @GreenGoatProductions  11 місяців тому

      @ZodiacII I don't think you can revert a single node. You can do a power window and do revert, but that's probably not what you're looking for. If you just wanna to go back to the look before that node. Turn the node off, crtl D. It still saves your work on that node, but it's off till you turn it back on. I don't think that's what you meant, but just In case
