At 4:39, it is rolling left but the right aileron is deflected up ( at least it looks like it to me) which is not "natural". Is that pilot input or FBW trying to minimize adverse yaw?
I am glad that you noticed it (I did too). It may not seem natural but it is. If you look more carefully at the entire maneuver you can see that the pilot starts the rotation with the natural roll input (Left roll). It can be seen especially well at time marks 4:37 and 4:38. But the plane has so much inertia that you need to start adding counter-roll input before the maneuver ends so that you don't overshoot. That is why you see the inverse aileron deflection. The roll reversal happens at 4:38 also. To which degree it is pilot-input or FBW commanded, that, I am not sure of. I would bet that it is a combination of both. ;)
Also, at least at the start of the maneuver, 4:35, he has some level of flaps deployed. Both ailerons are higher than the corresponding flaps at that time. So if you only look the right aileron at that moment, it looks weird as hell, but once you realize the left aileron is even higher it makes more sense.
I think you are wrong this time. I don't think it has flaps deployed at that point. If you watch in detail some pics of the MiG-35 you will see that the flaps have a larger chord than older MiG-29 flaps. It is one of the improved features of the new design. When they are retracted, the flaps' chord spans further aft compared to the ailerons and do not align on the trailing edge. You can see the same thing happening with the rudders (Although this already occurred on the MiG-29) and on the rudders of the SU-35 and SU-30SM. The vertical fins have less backswept and slightly larger control surface ;)
I once chatted to a pilot at an airshow and he told me that one of the things to look for to see how good a pilot is, is the transitions between maneuvers. Quite often you'll see a wobble, hesitation or level flight for a fraction of a second while the pilot is re-orienting or gathering his composure. Only the very best pilots will flow seamlessly from maneuver to the next. I didn't see a single hesitation in this display.

A real masterpiece of flying meets a real masterpiece of photography. Great work ! The ripping turn at 4 minutes mark was epic, including the audio. Missing a tiny bit was understandable. Awesome video Jandro, and awesome aircraft as well. Great sound. Also notice our Russian friends are starting to build engines that run really clean as well. None of that black smoke easily spotted tens of miles away anymore.
Yupp! Thanks! It is the upgraded version of the RD-33 (RD-33MK). The MiG-29s used by the Strizhi aerobatic team still use the old version and the black exhaust smoke is still present there, but all the new Klimov engines are much more improved... not only in burning efficiency but also in reliability and service life. Old engines lasted about 600h whereas the new ones are around 2000h, closer to western standards. The Saturn engines on all the new Sukhoi jets are also great performers :)
Главное, на что нужно обратить внимание - нулевое время между трюками. Если пилоты F-22 и F-35 после каждого трюка проверяют стабилен ли полет, то MiG это не нужно. Самолет стабилен, выполняй следующий маневр

F-16 may be rightfully famed for its agility but Mig 29s were the real kings of close air combat. Even their early versions, with the austere electronics and smoking engines where better dogfighters, courtesy of their HMS (a first in fighter aircraft), all aspect R-73s and extreme maneuverability. Very true, great comment. Sukhoi's however are purposely designed to be larger for long range engagements and more capabilities. The great strides in Russian electronics industry over the years has allowed for modern radars to be reduced enough to put on a smaller aircraft like the MiG 35. The Zhuk AE is a very capable system and in my opinion makes the MiG 35 better suited for fighting western aircraft than the Su 30SM.

Sukhoi* is the correct spelling. And no, it's not really similar at all other than in general concept and layout. Su-27 and MiG-29 were developed at the same time, with very similar goals and parting of a same set of knowledge, so it's only normal the results would look similar. Nothing was wrong. That's exactly what the pilot wanted to display. All the days of the show he performed the same routine. Mind that this jet does not have thrust vectoring nozzles. And yeah, the pull up at 6.03 is quite epic :D
Russell K. Bonney well, russians in general are a bit crazy but such flying skills have more to do with technique, discipline and training than crazyness ;)
It is, indeed. It is one of the modifications of the MiG-35 over the legacy MiG-29. My guess is that they did it to allow for lower wing loading, better maneuverability and shorter take-off and landing runs ;)

The Mikoyan MiG-35 the best multirole fighter this era fast agile deadly with skilled pilot invincible in medium and short range.
If only they started serial production already :'(
Its more of a delta with an almost straight trailing edge! Looks like the flap is bigger and reshaped to make the trailing edge looks straight.
It is, indeed. It is one of the modifications of the MiG-35 over the legacy MiG-29. My guess is that they did it to allow for lower wing loading, better maneuverability and shorter take-off and landing runs ;)
Ah, to be young again!! Kudo's to pilot, excellent energy management!
He's not precisely young though ;)
@@Airguardian Haha, then he is truly having some fun!! Happy he take the G's
