- Oil & Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri addressed an extensive press conference on Tuesday as he assumed charge of the ministry. In his plans for the new term, the Minister affirmed that the government is not in favour of stake sales in state-run oil firms. This comes after the government scrapped the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) divestment process as there was just one bidder left in the fray after the two others dropped out due to their inability to tie up funds for the acquisition.

Non BJP states can’t afford to reduce VAT on fuel since they give away so many freebies, they are dependent on the high prices. I hope GST is brought so that there is uniformity across the country.

On top of that, you want additional burden on masses, including 800 millions which are living barely above poverty line. Please have some sense.

Gadkari is the worst minister there is, only loud mouth that he will do that and that while all infrastructure being developed by private companies and they recover their investment by charging us like toll taxes, airport taxes etc. Tax payer money is going where, God knows. After income taxes which are higher than even developed country, they want to charge GST on everything. Worthless government.

How much crude oil reserve present in india?? Only possibility is to become self reliant is develope more and more nuclear power plant, but it need more investment as well as time. And every one know the reality that's why no have asked this silly question
It can’t be done. India don’t have reserve and whatever reserve India has, has low output and kept for emergency situations. For the electricity we could shift to nuclear but that’s costly and time consuming as compared to oil and coal. The government already did well with reducing oil consumption with 100% electrified railways. For vehicles we could shift to all electric but again it’s costly and has many cons of its own. So dependency for foreign coal and oil will remain reality for a long time.

There is 100℅ tax on petroleum products and the govt cooly says it is deregulated item.

That's fine. Presently the price of petrol and diesel is different and high in various states. For example the price for Petrol in Kerala is higher than other neighbouring States.
Ask Kerala government for this, they are charging SGST plus CGST. They are not waiving SGST which is State GST.
Petroleum is not under GST.

I am happy that you started worrying for petrol in k' taka. Even after raising 3/- today it stands @ 102.41. whereas Bhopal's rate is 106.47 Leh under president's rule it sells @ 102.28. if Bhopal public can be happy, why you worry for K'taka? By the way, Sir while introducing GST & GST it was widely Hoped that every Merchandise will be rated same throughout the Country. Good point. Diesel personal car ko ban karke, Diesel ke price ko kam kar sakte hein - this will help reduce the commodity price as transport price will come down.

Frankly cost of transportation, insurance, exchange rate, needs to be hedged for a time period. Hence, honourable Minister’s answer might not be altogether right.

Today 1 liter of petrol in leading economy USA is 0.96$ which is INR 80. In Chennai price of petrol is around INR 101. Let us not do diversionary tactics. Let us say the truth, that now petrol prices are control used to control volume of private vehicles on road, encourage use of public transport and road infrastructure is always catching up to vehicle volume.
