One time back on Long Island when I was about 15 crabbing on a piping hot summer day on the Bay from a 14 foot skiff. There was absolutely no wind that day, got attacked by a swarm of about 30 horse flies. Got bit so many times that after 30 minutes, I pulled anchor and went home. Hamburger for dinner that night, no crab 😂 🍔
I don't have a trot line, was thinking of renting a boat at schnaitmans this weekend. Do people use hand lines on the wye river? I do have a few traps. Not catching 9 inch crabs in the Delaware bay in NJ!
No matter what area you're in you can figure out where the biggest crabs are. Best bet for huge blue claws is late summer through early Fall, brackish bodies of water with high concentrations of natural food will allow the crabs to fatten up and get really big. Good luck 👍 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
