    I'm 72 going on 73 years old. What a fine young man this is. Any man my age would be proud to have him as a grandson. I wish you a long and happy life young guy.

    Outstanding young man! I lived in Baltimore for a while back in the 70's and developed a love of crabs then. Upon returning to Texas I continued my quest and found there's no closed season and the population is strong and robust! I even went so far as to move to the coast for several years. I got my crabs with handlines, trotlines and traps like you had on your dock. But, I never got away from Old Bay seasoning! To me crabs just don't taste right without it!

    I grew up in the 50s and 60s in baltimore and enjoyed going out on the bay in old wooden row boats, threw hand lines overboard with chicken necks and caught them with crab nets. Sometimes we would fill bushel baskets with large crabs .. jumbos. Those were the days and this video brought back memories

    I do miss those days on the Wye River. I learned to cook them the same way. Steam not boiled . .

    I'm a MD native. Moved 2 years ago to wv. Dammit I miss blue crabs. It was a summer pastime. Only time family would get together....when I come back to visit I'm sitting for 4-6 hours picking crabs and drinking beer amen!!!

    Great video, looking forward to this summer, hopefully there's a healthy crab population, hear everything from snakehead to blue catfish eating all the crabs.

      Thank you! I personally believe the blue catfish are hitting the crabs especially hard.

    Nice job! They look like my old traps I sold last season. Those old rusty traps do great. Don't like the traps that have the rubber on them.

    Great video. If I may anytime you're steaming blue crabs a hand me down secret. Before your liquid comes to a boil add a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and those crabs soak in a flavor that will make you want to just smack your Momma. I have had many a crab cookout in my family and my crabs are always consumed first. Others have used their favorite beer and even they comment on mine as being the best. I don't know why Pabst does it but give it a try. It's awesome !

    How do you know where to crab? How shallow/deep? How long do you steam the crabs?

    • @watersedgetv
      @watersedgetv Рік тому

      Any tidal creek should have crabs during the summer and fall. We usually crab between 4 - 10 feet deep. If you can find a channel edge, they like to travel along those. We usually cook our crabs for 25-30 minutes once they turn red in the steamer.
