Fashion, for the most part, is unsustainable. Mass market brands and fast fashion generate a lot of waste and emissions while promoting overconsumption. Are there any mechanisms to make fashion more sustainable?
There are two ways to change the situation: regulatory measures or changing consumer behaviour. But regulations are often slow, so it’s up to us, as consumers, to start doing better.
Hear from Tanya Mulesa, co-founder of Walk It (mulesa.com/) and CICON.App (cicon.app/), two UK-based startups dedicated to making fashion more sustainable. Having spent 12 years building a career in sustainable energy, Tanya realized that fashion is one of the least sustainable industries in the world. She set out to change the situation by founding a first-of-a-kind convertible shoe brand and designing an app for collecting data on the lifecycle impact of luxury garments.
