- At Artificial Lawn Company, we know how to lay artificial grass to the highest professional standards.
Our standard process is extremely straightforward and involves:
1. Measuring - We’ll begin by measuring the space to determine how much artificial grass and materials we will need. You will already have provided us with the dimensions so we should have a rough idea, but this will help us make sure. When providing us with the measurements, make sure to measure the area several times to make sure you’re as accurate as possible.
2. Removing the existing lawn - An essential part of the process is removing the existing lawn. We will dig out the current surface until the base is ready to take your new artificial lawn.
3. Laying the subbase - Next, we will lay a subbase that will give a firm but free-draining base for the grass to be laid on. We tend to use a special granite aggregate mix made up of stone and a little bit of dust. Then, we will compact the base so it is ready for the artificial lawn. Sometimes other aggregates will be used and even shock pads/underlays where required; every job is bespoke to your space and requirements.
4. Laying the weed membrane - To ensure the new lawn lasts as long as possible, we’ll install a weed membrane. This will prevent unsightly and damaging weeds from growing up through the artificial grass.
5. Laying the grass - Now, it’s time for us to roll out your brand-new artificial grass.
6. Trimming the excess - To keep the lawn looking nice and neat, we will use a Stanley knife to trim the edges. This achieves a perfect fit.
7. Joining - Now, it’s time to join the artificial grass piles together to achieve a uniform look. We use specialist jointing tape and adhesive to do this until everything has been neatly joined together.
8. Spreading sand and brushing - We always finish by spreading kiln dried silica sand across the artificial grass. Using a mechanical power brush, we’ll then vigorously brush the sand into the grass to encourage the blades to stand upright and look as luscious as possible.
Please note that in some cases different subbase compositions, fixings methods and edgings are required to achieve the highest quality finish. To find out more about our process or to book an installation, contact our team today.
