Don't throw out the planks, wash them down with a bleach/water solution to kill the mold. The store them with spacers between each board so they can stay dry. Thanks for sharing.

Amen! I was cringing watching them throw them out. In the summer after the weather warms up they’ll bleach in the sun.

Common misconception! Bleach doesnt kill mold. It just removes the surface the spores seep into the wood and will continue to come back or cause health problems later in time. Mold is nothing to mess with!

the wooden planks just need drying out in a covered area. then can just remove the mould off the surfaces with planer. no need to discard them.

Here in Canada we use thin strips of wood to stack boards. It allows the air to flow and the wood to dry out. It makes a massage difference. As far as the smoky stove ins concerned, you’ve got a blockage. Clean it out and all will be well.

Yes, I had thin strips in between the boards, but it still ended up this way

Hi, we used a stove like that in the Netherlands for years only for heating our house not for cooking.
So when it was getting cold during the fall we started the stove up and it always smoked like yours until it gets warm. It's because of the moisture in the cast iron and during heating up all the moisture condensate inside the oven.
You can check if is it moisture when it disappears on it's way out it dissolves in the air.
When we start using our stove we filled it with wood opened all the windows and went outside until it stopped smoking, it smells funny :-)
It is also possible (don't know on your stove) that the smoke goes up from the wood than underneath the second heating plate and then through a small channel under the top plate on the back into the chimney. that small channel can be clogged. If so you should see it when you lift the second heating plate or removing the chimney.
    Love your Channel!
    Jaap

Oh my goodness, be careful up on that roof. It's scary watching the two of you slipping on it.
In Australia it is fairly well known that timber sweats under plastic. Even dry timber has 10-15% moisture remaining. If you can't put it in a shed, the best solution is to put sheets of metal, such as corrugated iron over the timbers to keep the worst of the rain off, and leave the sides open so the wind blows through. Even if the timber gets some rain on it, it will dry out again and not do the damage that sweating in plastic does.
Hyvla looks like you were planing, although I have never seen an electric plane, only a hand tool, which has a wide, sharp blade that takes a very thin layer off.
    Vindskiva are fascia boards.
To clean the chimney, get a long rope (twice the height of the chimney), a weight, and a bunch of green twigs ( I don't know what you have growing, but choose something with lots of small stiff leaves). You tie the weight to one end of the rope, and the bunch of twigs in the middle. Drop the weight down the chimney. Because of the bend you might have to put a hook in to pull it through. One person at the top and one at the bottom, and pull the rope back and forth several times along the full length of the chimney. That will clean the soot out. If it is badly blocked you might have to get a second bunch of twigs to finish it off.
Have you thought of making a campfire outside? You would be able to cook on that when the inside fire can't be used.

We have a wood stove that smokes when we start a fire and the flue is cold. The problem is that the warm air (from the newly lit fire) cannot rise above the heavy cold air (that is pushing it down from the flue). We use a propane torch to warm the flue first, so the smoke can rise without any obstacles. Obviously if this is a new problem for you, it's more likely a blockage. I hope you fix it soon!

Stack the boards with stickers, let the wind flow thru them, they will dry out and be awesome. You need to learn about drying wood, stickers, wind direction etc, not hard, simple things make a massive difference.
The flue on the oven is blocked, rod and clean it all, it will then draw and stop back draughting
Hurry up, you are running out of time ;)

@@wojciechjanek1215 It's legal in Sweden to clean you own chimney if you acquire the correct knowledge. Usually provided through a course in your county. After that you're only obligated to have a professional inspect your stove and chimney every other year or so. Where I live it's once every third year. This is to ensure nothing has changed and your stove and chimney hasn't turned into a fire hazard.

Take a set of steel tire chains, fold them in half and tie a rope around the middle of the bundle. Go up to the roof and lower wad of chains down the chimney flue. It might be tight, but just keep pulling them up and down until you get all the way to the bottom and the chains are sliding freely in the chimney. You will need to disconnect the stove pipe in the house and clean out the soot from the bottom. The name in English for the chimney guy is a chimney Sweep. In Swedish it is "sotare."
I just cleaned the chimney in my house. The fireplace has not been used for a long time and the birds had built a nest in the chimney. The mud, sticks and twigs formed a plug in the chimney that was about a 75 cm deep. I got a lot of it out, but finally called Håkan the Sotare and he got the last of the debris out. He also drops a fiber optic camera down the chimney to check it out for leaks and damage. Everything was good. The down side is that the fireplace had not been used for a long time because IT SUCKS!! Whoever built it did not get something right, because it will not create a good draft and carry the smoke up the chimney. It just curls out the front of the fireplace and fills the room. Grrrrrrr. In the spring I will buy a wood stove insert and drop a stainless steel liner down the chimney. Yes, it will cost money, but it will not smoke and it will put out more heat with less wood.

Have a standby means of cooking and boiling water - buy a multifuel stove, runs on lamp oiil, kerosene, petrol , white gas etc. About 1200Kr in XXL, or even a simple Gaz Stove. Your Spis Stove is blocked in the flu or something is stopping the draft draw. Check also the seals around the top plates, Doors etc. I think what I have learned the hard way here in Sweden is outside house projects MUST be done from May to Sept. June to Sept if the snow hangs around. You must store Wood correctly with air flow and planks not stacked directly, use dividers between planks. Store preferably in a dry out house. Good luck!
