I am so beyond excited for a relaxing weekly gardening video! Your years of hard work have really paid off and you have created quite an oasis for yourself and your family. It’s gorgeous!
thanks for the fun gardening video! Your mom looks like she would be fun to be around! I am glad you got to visit her, and it would be fun to hear more about your time in France. I like that you brought back some herbs, what a fun and useful idea!
Your garden and yard is just looking so beautiful!!! I really need to start getting my yard developed more!! Love it Sophia! And look forward to more gardening videos 👌🏻🥰
So glad you were able to visit your Mom. The garden looks wonderful--perhaps I will be inspired to give mine some attention! I find that I am too impatient--thank you for the reminder that it literally takes years for the whole picture to come to fruition.
Your garden is so inspiring and so motivating for me to get out in mine. Thank you for leaving the dandelions. They are great for pollinators. Those little white flowers that were in the pot at the very end are beautiful when they are fully grown. I have them at the end of my driveway and they always come up around the first of July. They are also wonderful for pollinators too. The bees love them, and so do the butterflies. Please don’t get rid of them. Happy gardening.🪴💐🌞
You did so much work for your garden,I admire you. Everything will grow, it’s still Early in the year. Here we say, you may begin to plant your vegetables after 15th of may, ‘Saints de glace’. Your garden Will loke beautiful Again, don’t worry. Many Regards from Belgium.
Do what you can when you can. People are happy watching you because you are informative about gardening. Everyone will be happy to see your garden grow, plus they need your kind encouragement to TRY IT!!! Hope you get rid of your aphids. Roses are my favorite. TFS.😊❤🌹🪴🌾🍎🍏🥬🍅🫑🌶🫛🥒🧄🧅
Hello Sophia ! I see you and your family are doing well and I couldn't be happier 🙂 I follow from the begining however I don't comment much, due to language difficulties. For various reasons I watch your recent videos back to back today, I saw a rather long description in this one and I read it, so I feel the need to write to you, it is so pathetic to say the least, that people comment nasty things to you, you are an inspiration to so many here, me included that these comments only reflect empty lives and realy unhappy people. We say < ine kanon ton anikanon ton ikanon na kanoun nanon > that means < Α rule for the incompetent is to try and decrease the competent>. You are strong, smart, capable, skillful, charming and beautiful inside and out I am glad they can't affect you !! Keep living your happy life !!!!
Hi Sophia! Have you tried "soft soap" instead of neem oil? The translation might be a bit of (I am swedish) I meen the kind that is thick, often green and commes in bottles or containers and that is traditionally used to scrub floors. You take just a little and put it in a spray bottle with luke warm water, shake until disolved and spray the whole plant. Soft soap is nt hostile for people, animal, environment or the plant but no bugs like it. Spray every day for a week and if you see just a few bugs later on just spray again.
I just love your garden! I am working on mine little by little so I get inspiration from your videos. I would caution you on the lily of the valley. They are pretty and super fragrant…..BUT they spread and can be invasive. Just keep an eye on them.
I am going to keep them as a surround to the apple tree and then move some to the other apple tree as well. After that. If one pokes out of the circle...it's out!
Really love your gardens. Nice and relaxing area. Your seedlings were not the only ones that didn't survive. My nephew's all got neglected. His wife had to have a C section. So, he wasn't able to tend to them. He planted them anyway. The next day they're no sign of the plants at all. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the tour.
I start squash, cucumbers, beans, basil, dill, oregano, thyme, peas, and beets by direct sow. They do fine this way. This might save you a little. 😊 Love your gardening videos!
The Lily of the Valley is my birth month flower, love them but don't have any in my yard.😪The weather here has been bad so everything I need & want to do has been put off. Enjoyed your garden tour💜
I love your garden Sophia. Looking forward to seeing your garden snippets. Your garden backyard HAS come a long way. I was just wondering about your French drain, and how it was still working.i remember how you and the whole family worked to mov that hate rock! Your fig tree will hopefully do well. Ours is “bush-like” and ancient. I am excited to be getting figs this year.after such a hard freeze in 2021... we dint get any for two yrs.
I am documenting everything I do for my mom. She is yet to see my garden so I thought a weekly video would be fun and it keeps me motivated. Glad to know you are looking forward to them.
Make sure you are cleaning your pruners with alcohol in between plants, especially the roses. With your wet clay soil, flowering alliums and iris would do well.
I do have a vegetable recommendation. Try patty pan squash. They Re great. I get 100% germination and the plant is about as big as courgette. The squash is summery yellow as big as your fist and scalloped around the edges. Really lovely
Your garden is looking great! I have been in mine for the last few weeks replanting the veg garden and weeding. I lost a lot of seeds when my green house blew over 😢My roses have the same issues. I am envious of your hostas. I cant keep the slug population low enough to grow them here. My Acers are doing great though xx
@@mygreatchallenge i tried everything at the time. They were even immune to the harsh chemicals. Maybe i will try again now i have moved. The Hosta leaves are just beautiful x
Hello dear Sophia, for the aphids the thing that worked the best for me is savon de Marseille. You can find the exact instructions on internet but here in Belgium it seems to be the best remedy I found. It’s actually also very good also for the rusting on leaves too 😊 Hope it helps!
@@mygreatchallenge it’s the white one.
I followed this recipe for a number of years and it works here. I suppose it may work better or not depending on varieties of insects and what part of the world you are in. My parents in law who were maraîchers in Oise for many years, used this on many of their plants and helped protect produce. Who knows, it might be a cheap but effective solution to your problem.
I wish I could plant an apple tree in our yard but they don’t do well here I’m guessing? Actually having a hard time planting any tree in our yard, it’s too acidic I think? We planted a black diamond crepe myrtle it died, and several other trees. Only thing grows well in our yard is oak trees. Even our royal poinciana tree is struggling now after surviving for 5 years and finally bloomed last year. We have not tried fruit trees as of yet though.
@@mygreatchallenge oh I’d loved a mango tree! We shall see. I recently tried growing from a mango seed and nothing happen! You know the thing where you put toothpicks in it and the place on top of a jar of water etc. Ya I got nothing!

Sophia, you really have a Green Thumb all your plants are so healthy inside and outside. Wish I had this skill!
You do...there is nothing to it. Just let nature do its thing. It s when you fuss too much with plants that they become sick
Awe I feel loved by the dog. I love the pride you take in your yard
A few drops of dawn dish soap with water in a sprayer works great for aphids and doesn’t hurt the pollinators.
Your garden really looks great from where you began. So glad you got to visit your mom!!!
I know. Sometimes I am just in awe at how much work I put into it!

Her rosemary in Normandy is gigantic. I have never seen one so big. It s the size of a smart car!!!
Hi Sophia , my dad used to spray his flowers with soapy water to get rid of aphids and other pests.

I am working at it every late afternoon early evening. A few square feet at a time. You need to enjoy the process, it s not about the end result.
Hi Sophia, looking forward to see the France videos. Thank you for showing the videos on UA-cam also.
I love your gardening videos! You are so ambitious. I know it will turn out beautiful.

You can try sprinkling diatomaceous earth on your roses for the aphids. I use it on my roses for Japanese beetles and it helps a lot!
Sophia, you've worked so hard in your garden and I hope that they grow again.
Love gardening videos. Especially small gardens like yours. I had to do the same gravel, dry wells in my back yard.

You can also simply hose down the aphids with a hard jet of water. Ladybugs or birds should do the rest.
