Out of the box, into the amp and onto the gig! One of the best video reviews I've seen. I am waiting for my GT1 to arrive as I write this. I'm as amateur as amateur can be but I enjoy playing guitar as a hobby. Having an effects processor adds to the enjoyment of creating tones and sounds. And this video made me decide on the GT1. Great playing Alvin. Mabuhay ang musikerong Pinoy :) All the best!
This is seriously the best review of a guitar product I've ever seen. Here it is. Here I plug is in. Here I'm gigging with it. Here are the sounds I got in a live environment. Awesome. THANK YOU!
Hi Sean, Thank you for your kind words, I wish I can do this again with the new gears that I have. I appreciate your time commenting. Thank you! Have a great day and Rock on! \m/
This guy rocks harder than 99% popular guitar UA-camrs. I think he just convinced me to buy that over a Strymon Iridium. He gigs better than I probably ever will. If it's good enough for him...
Impressed!!! You Got some Balls trying out a new processor right before a gig. Sounded great. Can't wait to see what you do when you really dial it in.
Thank you, I appreciate it! Only because I have and had owned some boss multi-effects. But I was actually in a rushed. Thanks again, have a great day! :)
The GT1 is the best multi effect I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had a lot. Easy to use, sounds great and cheap too, especially second hand. Good for live or direct recording - can’t say enough good things about it.
Same here and ever since the 70's. This is one of those rare pedals that as soon as I began playing it, said...this is nice. Used price was a no-brainer and still in mint conditons too
Last weekend I had my first gig and I just used the gt 1, no amps just the pedal, a mixing board and two PA speakers, it sounded amazing, of course I've never tried gigging with an actual tube amp or anything but I've seen in concerts that guitar players have the amp, the pedalboard and a microphone right in front of the amp, to me it seems like a very complicated set up. But with this it's portable, easy to plug in and the tones you can get out of it are great. I even use it when I'm out playing on the street for money, I plug in a regular Bluetooth speaker into the headphone jack of the pedal and it sounds great
Man, big thanks for this video! I got GT-1 and your video helped me to make decision not to build pedalboard. I will use only GT-1 for my future gigs, sounds very good. For now I was playing my GT-1 only at home and I was able to create sounds I need and I'm satisfied.
Thanks for the great review. Ive used the Boss ME25 for the last 7yrs and it held up until two weeks ago. I used it to develop my own sound but dont want to buy another seeing its old now. The GT 1 seems to have what the 25 had but sounds much better so Im gonna order the GT 1 right now. Your review was gutsy!!
Came back a year later [see below] This video is still as relevant today as it was when I first bought my GT-1, thanks again for the video I have beefed mine up adding a RC-30 and FS-5U, the onboard looper was just too short And an EHX Grand Canyon so I can adjust delays and types on the fly, but really only for when I'm showing off like a plonker Other than that, still dead happy
Fantastic way to review gear, really helped cement my decision to pick one up. Used to have a GT-10 back in the day and it was phenomenal but had to sell it when my eldest kid arrived. This feels like a good re-entry point

Thanks for the vid, really appreciate the time you put in to record while setting up for a gig. I bought a GT1 two months back but haven't really had the chance to use it [live in an apartment/flat - so it's acoustic time when at home]. Just got access to facilities where I can at last plug in, mess about, and not terrify the pensioner next door. Your info is not only enlightening but also puts my mind to rest that I didn't waste meager cash reserves on future closet junk. I have much the same taste in music and looking forward to getting similar sounds out of my amp. Thanks.
I've been using Boss mutieffects units almost exclusively for several years now, all the way from small pubs to top tier auditoriums. No Boss mutieffects is buy-and-play: presets are absurd and overproccessed, like Roland flexing muscle (found just a few usable for my needs). You HAVE to tweak your way trough it… but once you do, man, they're awesome. I just sent my old ME-70 to the bullpen, only because I'm almost 50 and the thing became heavy as a bad marriage. But I've got the GT-1 and don't miss a thing.
That first rhythm patch and the solo with the control button was quite good for saying just turned it on lol. Brilliant . I see one of these in my future. I recently got the boss me 70
I know.. 3 years after posting. Yet I am looking for a pedal that can also be just plugged into a sound system. This was on my radar and the price was right, but even though there are reviews, they are all people just playing with the sounds. It's hard to tell how it feels live. This is about the best review of a product I have seen in a wile. Thank you for posting!
LO freaking L. That dude on the left is glued to that iPad. Someone tell him when the gig is over so he will know to go home. All jokes aside. Nice tone and you had some huge stones to bring a new piece of gear to the gig and use it. Also says something for the gear. Nice review and nice playing
Thank you so much for doing this video. I had my GT1 up for sale when I saw this. I gave it one last shot into a powered monitor and happy I did. I now play it thru a 19lb. HeadRush Frfr 108 and love it!
Hi EJ, Glad the video helped. I think it's a good pedal, you just need to tweak it and find your sound. Enjoy your day and let me know what you think once you have it. Rock on \m/
BRO! Brilliant post! Ballsy man, right before a gig! Nice work man. I suddenly got the itch for something quick and easy to use that sounds decent and you helped me out! All the best and keep rockin out bro!
Great job. Imho this is how to put out a review - use the thing in an actual gig! Been thinking this vs the Zoom G3; ill go with Boss GT1. Made a deal with my son that if he improves his grades this quarter he is going to get a multi-effects processor. Held up his end of the bargain and now i'll hold up mine.
Thank you Dor and that's awesome! All the best to you and your son. Just posted a video on how I did the lead patch with the GT-1. Have a great day! \m/
Muchas gracias. It was a quick one, I set it up around 30 minutes. It's because I have an idea of how Roland/Boss multi-effects pedals work. Been using their products for a long time. Thanks again! Much appreciated!
About to get one of these from my tito from the states! Thanks for the demo dude, it's rare to see any live test videos with this (or really any) pedal, especially one without the guitarist jacking off with blues licks. Sweet tone!!! Especially because you only set it up right before the gig :D
Thank you so much for your demo Alvin. I am still hesitating, fearing to have to study a year before being able to use it but yes, you helped me and yes, I will buy it! Hey I'm thinking loud now!!!
😊 awesome! I think it's straight forward. And just let your ear be the judge of the sounds. If it's good for you then that's it! Enjoy. All the best and have a great day.
I gig very regularly with this, one thing I hate is how close pedals are, if you go to hit ct1 pedal, you can easily accidently hit the scroll up pedal triggering the loop effect... is quite embarrassing if you havnt realised thats happened and half way through a solo your solo starts again... otherwise I love it
Dude, get your stuff off the floor. I know this is weird but I use my hands to switch patches mid song even live. I set my unit on top of an empty 4x12 i use as a cool looking prop lol. My multi effects on top and all my drinks, smokes, snacks and tools in the back of the cab hahaha. The actually amp is off stage and mic'd 😆. All of this is because I hate using my feet for the tap dance.
Traditional guitar amps and pedal boards are no longer relevant with todays technology. Nice demo showing those with open minds how to simplify without compromising.
Amps and pedals definitely have their place. But in a live setting, you're right, they're almost completely irrelevant and entirely replaceable with units like this. I just bought one of these as a backup to my regular gigging Helix LT and my band mate uses one of these as his main rig.
that was a nice gig you put there, congrats. and yes I am buying one because I have no space in my room for an amp+pedals and this unit seems to fit under my desk quite well while practicing and recording. If I ever get to play a live gig with a band only then I will buy an amp. Your video btw made things clear for me. thank you
Great demon and you cleared my mind in buying this GT1. Just guide me with one quest as i have mexican strat with HSS configuration so will this GT1 sound good on my Guitar?
I have the gt1. I like the assignments. On some patches i assign several things to do more. Like i use it with an expression pedal and have amp drive and delay time set to it. So all i have to do for a lead solo is press down on the exp pedal it turns up the gain and longer delay time.
This is how fx units should be tested. Nice shredding too man. Keep up the good work. Do it for the Mooer ge 200 next time plz.. It's my due request. Love and respect from India. 😄
WOW!! now this is a very insteresting and GOOD REVIEW!! this is the way it should be DONE!! its more convincing how its sounds like while using it live!! good job sir!! more vids like this showing your rig before every gig!! subs here!!
Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately because of the situation I haven't been playing live for months now. Thank you for the sub, enjoy my videos. Rock on 🤘🏼
@@alvindeleon oh yeah it is a very difficult time right now, perhaps do a vlog while you play and make a tutorial of the tweeks on your multi effects sir :-)
You are brave! I’m still tweaking mine and probably over thinking it. Mostly what I need to work on is combo sounds with clean or crunch and CTRL for leads. I did buy a cheap 2 button Hosa pedal from Amazon and added two more buttons to easily turn on or off effects and give more in-song flexibility.
@@bcain5823 Yes. I since sold my GT1 and got a Line 6 Pod Go which is a lot better display and more flexible playing live. However, any switch pedal can be added to turn on or off effects in a chain.
@@rtroiani That’s interesting! I’m looking at floor effects processors to use on-stage in church. I recently borrowed an old Line 6 Spider amp and really liked the sounds. Couple of drawbacks is it doesn’t have the 4-switch pedal control and the master volume is very touchy. I started looking at the ME-80 but noticed it had been out for a while. Then I saw this video thinking maybe the GT-1 would work better and lower cost. Any other reasons why you sold the GT and went with Line 6 Pod?
@@bcain5823 actually a few reasons. While I love pedal the sounds in the GT1 since I also have a Katana and Waza Air headphones for playing on the couch, I noticed I didn’t use that many presets, so when looking at my band mate’s huge Headrush board, I knew that was ridiculous. The Pod had a nice balance of software and abilities to make anything, but I really like the Snapshots feature where you can setup a rig with different pedal effects, then in one mode, switch between four presets that can change any values of any pedals or amp in that rig. Additionally, if you hit the Mode button, you can switch to pedal board mode and use it like that when needed. It also has a small for factor and is built like a tank. I went with the Pod Go Wireless, so I just plug in the transmitter and ready to go.
@@rtroiani Some valid points. I mostly play acoustic but one particular song has a lot of electric with different effects. The Spider has 4 (for lack of term) "channels effects" that are programmable. I use 3 that require switching back and forth. Needless to say, it was (and will be) a challenge to press those buttons in mid-playing. Thanks for the insight and I will be looking at the Line 6 Pod Go throughout my endeavor to find the right floor unit.
Going directly into PA and using a guitar amp for a monitor is not a good idea, because the frequency response between a PA speaker and a guitar amp is very different - if you tune your tone based on what it sounds like on your guitar amp, it'll sound totally different on the PA system. If you are going into the PA directly it's best for you to use a PA monitor for monitoring.
True. I had a monitor (from P.A.) as well in this video that I forgot to mention. It was in front of me. I was in a hurry and the sound was ok. In this situation whats important is I can hear myself :in the mix". But I got you. Have a great day 🤘🏼
Thank you much appreciated. For sure they are selling but they only support the ones with big names or with lots of subscribers. I sold all my BOSS pedals already. I use MOOER now. Have a great day 🤟
I can't tell the difference between the effects produced by my GT-1 vs dedicated effects pedals...the GT-1 lets you customize to your preferences without the need for a huge pedal board. Plus you can plug it right into a surround receiver and play through a PA system or into headphones. No amp necessary!
That's the advantage of multi effects processor. I also have analog pedals but I usually use my multi fx's or the boss katana amp just straight guitar to amp. because all is there including fx etc.
Sounded pretty sweet trying to decide between the zoom and digitech ones at the same price range leaning towards the boss love my boss katana amp if its just as well made and sounds as good im sold
Hi ROCKIT, for the price of this I can say it's good. Although I don't use it that much because I use only the KATANA Artist amp with the foot switch on gigs
Thanks for your help alvin much appreciated the boss artist amp i may buy sometime im hearing good things about i know my 50 watt katana sounds really good for what i paid for it i have a epiphone prophecy plus and a kurt cobain signature fender jaguar that jaguar gets played daily it sounds awesome lol take care
Nice job! Very impressive getting the GT1 setup before a gig. I've had it for a while and I'm still tweaking it. I didn't see if you are running direct into the fx loop of your amp. I've done that, but my master volume on my Marshall combo becomes disabled. So if i play at a gig, I've found myself tweaking the master level on the GT1 and some of the levels on the patches. When I've run the GT1 through the front of the amp it tends to sound a little muddy/processed. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Chris P Hi Chris! I was plugged in front of the amp from R right channel on the GT and Lmono out to the mixer. Been using BOSS products for many years so I have a good idea on how to work with the pre-amps and all, I usually go with the presets and tweak it with the amp that I'll be using. Try to change the pre-amp if you think that it sounds muddy. and I usually just put all the Eq, treble, mid and bass on the amp in the middle (5) and work on the GT's pre-amp and Eq. Hope that helps. Comment or message me if you have any more questions or concerns that I can help you with. Have a great day!
Is there a way to set up a "playlist" so to speak, of your 5 favorite patches you will use 90% of the time, so you only have to scroll up or down a max of 5 times? The unit has 99 preset patches of most you will most likely never use though its nice to have. It would be a pain to scroll through all of them during a live gig. How do we do this?
this pedal is good for people who are on a tight budget and also it sounds ok but I would prefer the boss me 80 since its much easier to control plus analog-style setup although it has fewer effects and only 36 presets but It is enough for some people. btw great performance . :0
Hey, really nice job with that in a very short time. I will have the same situation in a few days ajjaja and for that reason i have a question. Is it possible to go from P1 to P10 without the effects sounding in between? P2 to P9 for example. Thanks for charing your extreme experience.
Hi Pablo, Thank you! I appreciate it. And I guess you're asking if it doesn't sound while you're scrolling up or down the patches? It will not as long as there is no sound coming from your guitar. I suggest making "close patches" or patches that you need that are close together. I usually put them let's say P1-clean P2-crunch P3-lead P4-clean or crunch P5-lead or clean and so on. Then make another batch of close patches so that you don't need to tap dance on stage ;) and also eliminate any unwanted sounds. I hope that helps.
Dude this is the most relevant gear test ever, if you can pull off setting up a new fx processor straight before the gig , it’s a sign of something good. Thanks for sharing your experience. Keep rockin. Best wishes ...paul

that was a nice gig you put there, congrats. and yes I am buying one because I have no space in my room for an amp+pedals and this unit seems to fit under my desk quite well while practicing and recording. If I ever get to play a live gig with a band only then I will buy an amp. Your video btw made things clear for me. thank you
Awesome! I appreciate the comment. Thank you so much! :) Have a great day \m/
Great demon and you cleared my mind in buying this GT1. Just guide me with one quest as i have mexican strat with HSS configuration so will this GT1 sound good on my Guitar?
Sounded professional
Thank you ❤️ 🙏 enjoy and Rock on 🤘
Awesome! Can you get a great heavy scooped mid black metal kind of tone? Or maybe something similar to an EVH III?
Thanks! 🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
I have the gt1. I like the assignments. On some patches i assign several things to do more. Like i use it with an expression pedal and have amp drive and delay time set to it. So all i have to do for a lead solo is press down on the exp pedal it turns up the gain and longer delay time.
Hi Paul. Great tips, thanks for the input! Have a great day.
More people should put out test vids like this.
The man on left side isnt made for being on stage....
He was sleeping.
i was 100% serious , but your comment made me laugh really hard.
Horst Spreu made my day bro
and cheating on the chords for every song with his iPad. He wouldn't be in my band
@@johnnymegabyte maybe he even wouldnt want to be in your band ;)
Sounds great. Is it plugged into the Amp input or into a PA?
Out in PA, amp for monitor
@@alvindeleon have you ever used it directly to amp input? Do you think this way it could sound decent for a live gig?
@@oldschoolrocker257 you have to tweak.it in that case sold it already. I am using the MOOER GE300 🙏
i love the SOLO red light.
TLC?
ua-cam.com/video/maIcacsJ9js/v-deo.html @@alvindeleon What about the switchS? plastic?
Hard plastic, same as all the boss switches like with the ME80 etc.
Rock on 💪😀 Sir Alvin
Great review, I got one!
why aren't you on a big stage?
Sounds great! I’ve been recording with mine. I never use plug-ins for guitar anymore.
Awesome! Thank you \m/
This is how fx units should be tested. Nice shredding too man. Keep up the good work. Do it for the Mooer ge 200 next time plz.. It's my due request. Love and respect from India. 😄
Thank you Baibhab. Much appreciated. I need to get my hands on that first :) Have a great day!
Thank you Baibhab. Much appreciated. I need to get my hands on that first :) Have a great day!
@@alvindeleon , yeah man thanks. But the interface of the ge 200 is much more convenient that the gt 1. You should definitely try that out
Good to know and will check that out. Thank you
Good to know and will check that out. Thank you
Sounds great ....nice playing as well...
Gerry Mc Gill Thank you! Have a great day :-)
Took me a month to work it out good luck ha
Great live demo video. Had a question though. Was the screen easy to see from standing over it at full height? Was it too bright or dim? Thank you .
It was easy to see. I sold it already though. Lots of other choices nowadays check Mooer GE150
Nice playing and good band 😎
Thank you 🤟🙏❤️
Your band sounds good too - great mix.
Thank you. Much appreciated 🙏🤘🏼
Excellent review !
Thank you Chris 🙏🤘🏼
Tall chap on the left...Lurch called, he wants his guitarist back. Lol, dude needs to get into it!
Great test! And tell that Telecaster’s guy to not steal the show from you guys😨
Great rig man! Thats really good!
Thank you Wesley. I appreciate the comment. Have a great day and Rock on \m/
Outstanding review. Great band.
Thank you. Much appreciated 🤘🏼
WOW!! now this is a very insteresting and GOOD REVIEW!! this is the way it should be DONE!! its more convincing how its sounds like while using it live!! good job sir!! more vids like this showing your rig before every gig!!
@@OliverGatch 😊 that's a great idea. I use the MOOER GE300 now. 🤘🏼
nice content! 😇 bro ano advantage sa Boss Gt1 compare sa Zoom G3XN??
Hi, tried both. And both are good. Its about being familiar with the gear, both needs tweaking to get your preferred tone/sounds.
thank you sir 🙌
@@joezerloquinario1208 welcome 🤘🏼
You are brave! I’m still tweaking mine and probably over thinking it. Mostly what I need to work on is combo sounds with clean or crunch and CTRL for leads. I did buy a cheap 2 button Hosa pedal from Amazon and added two more buttons to easily turn on or off effects and give more in-song flexibility.
I know nothing about the GT-1 and was thinking about getting the ME-80 until I heard about this. So you can expand this unit with a Hosa?
Have a great day 🤘🏼
sir alvin, straight sa front amp?return? or direct to PA ?
Wow Bro, you got GUTS, this is the best Boss Adv. they can get! You know how many units they will sell from you? or was this a put-on from them.
Thank you much appreciated. For sure they are selling but they only support the ones with big names or with lots of subscribers. I sold all my BOSS pedals already. I use MOOER now. Have a great day 🤟
Is it good for gigs? I need your genuine feedback.
There are better units now. I use the MOOER GE300 and GE150.
Yes, loving the Katana Artist. Sounds good :) Welcome and thank you. Have a great day and keep in touch.
Where I can I find it?
You can move the presets around. It has 99 factory presets and 99 user patches. You can edit and move the user presets around.
How is preset switching on the fly? Any drop out or latency going from clean to dirty?
Alvin deleon..
You are great..
May i ask?
How about direct sound to mixer? Because no amplifier on stage.
If the is still good?
Thanks Alvin..
Yes, the amp is just for monitor. Thank you. Much appreciated
@@janjuko4024 awesome, it works great with that. Enjoy!
this pedal is good for people who are on a tight budget and also it sounds ok but I would prefer the boss me 80 since its much easier to control plus analog-style setup although it has fewer effects and only 36 presets but It is enough for some people. btw great performance . :0
Good day! Sir Alvin, na try mo na ba ang mooer ge-200? Alin ba sa dalawa mas maganda? Boss GT-1 o Mooer GE-200. I'm planning to buy po kasi. Salamat.
Haven't tried it. I use Mooer GE300 now. I think the MOOER GE250 is way better. All the best Cookie ❤
Thanks. Would you still recommend this ?
Does it sound good direct to PA
I am a little confused do you have a unshielded speaker cable coming out of your mono left output of the pedal at 2:13?
Hi Ken, the audio tech gave me that cable and I just plugged it in. Not sure maybe it's like a stereo cable
Are you plugged in directly to the PA?
Hi Jayson, The Lmono channel to the PA then thr (R)right to the amp
Thanks for responding
