BTW Zereoue had a random 37 carry game out of nowhere VS the Falcons in the infamous tie of '02, which is insane (both the number of carries and the tie itself). I say random because Zereoue had just three other 20-plus carry games the rest of his career.
I feel like I must correct whoever wrote one of the articles that you showed. Amos Zereoue did not play for the University of West Virginia. He played for WVU. As a Marshall guy, I despise WVU, but at least I know their name.
Notice that the more successful RBs Bettis and Hearst didn't complain, Hearst didn't respond to Zeroues comments. This is why we know who Hearst and Bettis are and not Zeroues and Barlow
Amos Zereoue was a 3rd RB at best on the team. He played behind Tyrone Wheatley, Justin Fargas and Zach Crockett. What made him think he's going to get the ball 15 plus in a game???

I have lived and breathed Raiders football for 40 years. I don't even remember this happening. At no point was Amos Zereoue worth getting excited about. If this was the Raiders most controversial deactivation, then that is a very calm and subdued history of deactivations. I actually remember Rich Camarillo tweaking his leg in warm ups before his one game as a Raider, and the Raiders kicker had to punt that game. That was more memorable than Zereoue.
Yeah, could even be said he had a longer career in the league then he should have, he has just 1 season out of 7 with more then 4.0 ypc lol and at this point, was near the old age point for a mediocre rb. Very weird.
This is WHY BOTH the STEELERS and the RAIDERS are ALWAYS going to be WAY BELOW a 39.6 and would be WAY BETTER OFF just SPIKING the football into the ground on EVERY single OFFENSIVE play!!!
Raider fan but didn't know about this. Great video! Amos actually was a talented RB in the style that was desired in the early 2000's, he should've had a better career.
@@teen_laqueefa Seems like a mix of all of that, maybe a bit of racism but I don't think the major reason. Although letting him know so soon before a big game for him was weird, he could have let him know long beforehand so as to not hype himself and his family up to watch him not be anywhere near the field lol
Was he really? He had an offense full of great players in Dallas. How hard was it to have a good offense with those guys? I have said many times that Turner just milked 20 years of paychecks out of being an assistant coach on a great team.
@@johncate9541 According to Skip Bayless's book about the '92 Cowboys (back when he hadn't become a cartoon character) Turner was in fact the perfect OC for Aikman and the offense in general, and no other OC would've had that kind of success. You'd be amazed at how many coaches have everything going in their favor from a talent standpoint and still manage to mess it up.
Can anyone please explain to me why Amos is biting back at Kevan Barlow? I mean sure Kevan was not a great player by any stretch but he did bring up a good point about Amos. If you lose your starting position you obviously need to work hard to get it back and not b*tch and complain about getting demoted. Jerome Bettis also had a good point as well about the entire situation but obviously Coach Cowher had other ideas which is what led the Steelers to have sort of a three back system with Bettis, Duce Staley, and a young Willie Parker and that’s part of what helped them win a Super Bowl in 2005.
I thought Amos Zereoue was another one of those useful running backs, like Gerald Willhite, Steve Sewell, or Kevin Faulk, especially with the Steelers (but when the Steelers went with him as #1 in 2003, it wasn't a great fit in terms of ideal production; maybe what Zereoue needed was to be moved up the depth chart during mating season). I don't know, this is a tough deal, but the Raiders were a mess back then; it was sad, just a bunch of disparate players making a lot of cash and not giving a damn (true & typical American work environment, and in regular life I don't find it entertaining).
The Raiders having to give up on the dominance of wide receiver Warren Wells in the late 1960s because he had problems. Zereoue, I don't know, Priest Holmes became a feature back, but that was more of a case of the Ravens not exploiting him fully, while the Chiefs used him like the Rams used Marshall Faulk. Norv Turner was good with running backs (Emmitt Smith, Terry Allen, Stephen Davis, Ladanian Tomlinson, Michael Turner) so if Zereoue was the guy, Turner would run him silly. Turner should've given Zereoue a heads-up though, and yeah, Raiders/Steelers '04 was fun (2004 Raiders were 2-1 w/ Rich Gannon under center, and the Steelers game was that loss. Awful Raiders defense that season).
@@teen_laqueefa He he I was told by Colleen the Marriott bartender that May is mating season for many animals & insects (she seemed pretty excited about it, which stands to reason that Colleen is trouble!), so we'll look for Amos Zereoue at #1 on the depth chart in May... of an undetermined year.
