Hello Cheryl I have always admired your playing. Your my favourite player to have been part of the Bream Masterclasses. Also I think you should have won the 1981 Guitar Competition at Leeds Castle Kent. Your playing is very engaging and emotional. I like the lack of pretention or elitism in your playing. This makes me feel more involved as I listener. Often in classical music and the arts there is a disconnection with the audience. But your playing is more personal and warm although your technique is still stunning. I also like the idea that as a northern woman you were able to rise to the top of your proffession. Thank you for your kind words. Engaging with the listener is what I feel everyone should be doing. Music is like a speech about a subject that is important to you. You are sharing your thoughts and feelings through the music. For listeners to feel that when I play, is everything to me. To just play the notes and say 'look at me' has always been beyond my comprehension. If someone tells me that my music has moved them in some way - then I am happy :-)
