Really good video! Mooncool is also sending me this bike to review on my You Tube Channel. I reviewed the (non motorized) one they sent me as well. And it was amazing handling with no tipping issues. Again, good video and now I have a feel of what to expect on the trike when I review it on my channel. Dan E Bike Nation
Great video! Your comments echo all the other reviewers I've seen. I just ordered a white one for my wife who'll be turning 72 in September. I recently bought the Addmotor M-360 II (2024 version) which is also very impressive. We live in Abilene, TX which is fairly flat. I look forward to riding around with her. 😊
Good video! New garage, hot music intro track, new look, & awesome low-key 50lb dumbbell brag... I have never seen the motor mounted on an etrike like that (looks like a good idea). I also noticed that when the front basket is mounted, light doesn't look like it follows the handlebars.
This is one of the best videos I've seen showing the Mooncool TK! trike. I really enjoyed it - very informative, interesting, and fun. I like how you carefully explained the balance on three wheels. I'm an e-biker who has been riding a 26 inch cruiser e-bike for 18 months and loved it. I had just over 5,000 miles on it when suddenly I was involved in a terrible accident that caused a very serious impact, brain damage, and I tore the rotator cuff on the right arm. That was back in September. (It was not the fault of the e-bike - I can't remember the accident but suspect that a car might have been the cause.) I would be interested in doing a product review for one of these trikes in the future. My wife and I do videos on her channel (Under the Median) and I've done some product review videos on the old e-bike I currently own. Keep up the good work on your videos! You do a great job with them.
Looks like a great platform for major upgrades... I'm thinking front hub motor w mega range battery serious cargo space. Love the intro to the video. Well done young man 👍
I'm getting a trike when I get too old for a regular e-bike. It's got to be powerful enough to get up any hill since it's hilly around here. Another nice review.
I like the drive system on that. No derailleur hanging down to grab dirty grassy bumps or sticks.. Looks like more ground clearance than the other type.
Great review, and I have to say this is definitely one of the better designs. The only significant negatives to me are the cruise control style PAS programming, and the oversight of no parking brake. I've ridden the Rad trike, and although it was well made, I still prefer rear wheel drive for trikes. The Lectric trike is similar to this one, but I feel the Mooncool has a less rushed design than the Lectric. The battery cradle design will accommodate a 55amp Grin Technologies Baserunner controller, so there are some cool upgrade options. You'll still be stuck with 500 watts as the max it can use without the temperature going up, but it should be fine with surges of 1200 watts. Thanks for the review!
My wife has the Lectric trike. Which reminds me of this trike. Your review is spot on. I would love to try the Addmotor trike. A trike that is a little more sport, speed designed. It is a lot of fun in a complete weird way. Great job!
@@CitizenCycle925 the Mooncool site looks amazingly like the Magicycle site... wonder if there's a connection. I hope you get to review an Addmotor trike too!
I think this is a great start for Mooncool and I love the idea of a rear drive trike rather than a front drive. Give it a 750w motor, 25 amp controller (or more) programmable PAS and a 960 watt hour battery (or more) with at least 5 speed derailleur and you would definitely have something.
@@CitizenCycle925 First know that I have a Rad mini I bought back in 2016. Good bike as we know Rad Power Bikes is known for quality. My recent buy from them is proving anything but. The differential set up is a simple approach in that only one rear wheel is powered. This allowed for the problem of one wheel over travel in turns as you correctly mentioned. However in my case it stresses the bike and causes vibrations and noise, that grinds the chain assembly. Next is the braking system works with the old school coaster brake system. Where you back peddle and press down. So no disk brake in back. The braking is inadequate and the runner clip that helps the chain lock and apply pressure gets stuck causing a loud grinding. This noise continuously plagues the system long after braking. Lastly is the front wheel drive. As you said so are the problems I have- irritating! The list goes on but I ‘Kllc leave it there. The good news it works sadly the simplicity they were striving for was poorly engineered. Hey man your doing really well with your channel! I remember when you had 10 followers, including me😊👍. All best man!
@DanielLopes-kv4sp thank you for the detail, sounds like they missed the mark with that one. helpful to hear your experience. And thank you for sticking around continuing to watch, Appreciate the support!
I have the Rad Mini two wheel e-bike. Nice bike but looking to get a Trike. I was looking at Rad's trike, it appears to be well built; but that thing is heavy. And it doesn't fold, so I am seriously considering this Moon Cool.
I think the ticket to trikes being safe and less likely to tip over are the reverse trikes with independent suspension as they act like a two wheel bike and stay planted on the ground when turning. If you are just a basic rider and simple riding these will be just fine.
Just received mine this past Saturday, do you have a way to show what all the display do step by step like the wired ? I seen a video on here one guy was going 21 mph on this trike. He wouldn't give me a solid answer on how he unlocked it. I have 6 velotric nomad 1s I have all of them unlocked just looking for a little bit more power if possible and also understand what all the P 0,P1 and P2 settings do I would appreciate it. I wish I had a way to send a photo on here are relocated my headlight to the plate that goes on the gooseneck clears the front basket well keeps the headlight from banging into everything use velcro straps for parking brake, I think a lot of people are going to realize that headlight bangs into everything especially when it's rolling around in your moving it in your garage you don't realize it but does take quite a few hits
It's cool to see that you got a trike to review. I had gotten a tadpole (two wheels in front, single in the rear) recumbent trike last year due to taking a spill on my ebike at the time. I just needed something more stable to ride and something less jarring on my back. They are great for riding, no need to put our feet down for balance. Trying to get full leg extension for riding would cause me to have cramps in my calves. I don't blame your wife for wanting to put her feet flat on the ground. Recently I had modified my trike to a quad and I've been riding more ever since. It's like being a kid riding on a go kart, only the quad is legal and it's way more stable in the turns than the three wheeled variety. I know you had a video that you asked people to sent their modified ebikes. Do equads count? 😁 As always it's been a pleasure watching your reviews.
very cool!. I saw a quad cycle for sale on Facebook once and almost bought it to make it electric, but it just seemed so big. You can send pictures any time, I love seeing other people's creations.
Great informative review, good job. Just curious on that dented fender. Lectric XP Trikes had this major issue on hundreds of these. The dented fenders turned out to me the minimal danage. They bought back a lot of these, 2 from us because the dented fenders turned out to also have bent axles and bent rims from shipping. Maybe check those rear wheels for a visual on how true they are. Hope their fine but would be very curious. Thanx ...
I am in search of a suitable e0trike and Mooncool seems to be the right candidate. I like this review very much as you are going through various details thouroghly. I am not able to find any good review on Mooncool TK1 FAT20 trike. This is the non folding version. It will be great if you can get hold of the TK1 FAT 20 model and do a similar detailed review.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! MoonCool was great to work with. Perhaps they will send me another one of their bikes in the future. And good luck on your buying decision. 🙂
Had my mooncool for 3 days and the bearings started clicking. Customer service is horrible. Had to stop payment on credit card. Hopefully this will make them back up their product.
Imagine if e trikes became cool for all ages? I doubt it will happen unless they increase the motors to 750 watts and throw in a 20 AH battery. I would also move the crank forward to help with leg extension and keep the center of gravity as low as possible.
I o own two geared hubs one is a 1,000w Bafang and the other is a 500w no name. When it comes to pure climbing the 500 is a little better. Think it has to do with the wind, Feel like the peak of the power band is at a lower RPM, but no matter how many volts go to it, it won't do more than 26mph.
I was pleasantly surprised with the hillclimb power in this trike. I wasn't expecting that. They did a good job there. Wonder how it compares to the XP trike...
I saw another post and the build is not simple you assemble everything on the TK1 3; unalike his where he says almost fully, so know when you buy which one your getting
They should make trikes to where you can install up to 3 batteries. 2 batteries underneath the rear seat or basket and 1 battery attached to the middle seat or a buit in battery. But the dual batteries underneath the basket should be removable. 2 batteries is good but 3 batteries is better.
I wonder if this was a CanAm type trike (with two wheels in the front and one in the rear) would be any more stable in turns or off-camber situations? Your thoughts?
Holy cow. This will have enough room for four motors. One mid drive and three hub. I know you’re going to miss your two wheelers, because every time you hit a corner I believe you end up having this on two wheels. Lol.
must be...Fat tires 20 x 4 on all 3 for better traction and stability. Hydraulic and parking brakes on all 3 wheels. The motor must be at least 750 watts, peaking at 1000 watts and reversible. Fork must be hydraulic for better suspension and smooth front braking. fenders must be larger to prevent rain and mud from splashing inner sides and legs of rider. This is what I need for my 75 year old girlfriend. she goes to church, supermarket and errands on a donkey, over rough, unpaved roads.
For that price. Need more stuff. Tips over easily. I think maybe it would be better if the two wheels are in front and single wheel in the back. I remember when the first ATV came out as was the same design, they were dangerous. And now ATVs are 4 wheels for more safety. Price too high & not enough power, many complains about the axel gears going bad, no cassettes & cogs when power hours out will be hard to pedal w/o gear shifters and then some. Nah! pass on this one.

You are very, very observant, my friend. And yes, the front basket mounts to the head tube, not the handlebars, so it doesn't turn.

or maybe an extra thick rubber band..

Man that thing would be great to upgrade to like 60 or 72v and the motor could be upgraded to and that thing would be fast.
You do not want fast on a trike. In the event you must turn fast you’ll get dumped . 14- 16 is fast enough so you can break for emergency 🆘

if the 2 wheels in the front had some suspension system then i'm sure it would be WAY more stable.

Will the handle bars move forward so they re closer to the rider?
Nice but need a place to park it out of the weather and not easy to load for less able people 😢
Can you remove the battery for charging?
Yes!
I cannot understand why a reverse function is not standard on trikes. Every trike should have a reverse.
Does it have reverse?
No you have to roll it yourself

Any idea of brand of derailer
There is no derailleur, single speed trike
I hear you can attach a 2 person carriage to the back and run a city taxi service
