- The Komplet Lepinja, which is very traditional Serbian food that is found in Uzice, Serbia. This meal is extremely iconic in western Serbia and it is a dish that locals love here in Uzice. This Traditional Serbian food is made with fresh bread, eggs, kajmak, and pretop, which is a sauce made from pork and lamb. The bakery that we will be visiting today is known as Pekara Suljaga, which is located right in the city center of Uzice, Serbia. This pekara is where the original Komplet Lepinja was created and it has been in operation for over 100 years! Join me as I take you guys to one of the most iconic bakeries here in the country!

Foods that are naturally rich in saturated fats, like eggs, diary and pork has HDL cholesterol which is very beneficial for health as it protects from triglycerides and the tricky LDL cholesterol which come from processed fats, industrially refined oil etc. That's why we eat lots of kajmak without health problems.

You still have a thing or two to learn: when you open that yogurt you need to fully open it and lick the lid :)
If you lick the lid you should be convicted for war crime.
And the special trick if you have a breakfast in a moving vehicle... with the two small holes on the lid, because you don't want to spill everything when the car hits the hole on the Serbian road. 😉

The stress falls on the first syllable and the rest is pronounced fast, so I think it's a bit hard for Westerners to remember. For example the word IDEMO we're going. If you say EEEEEDEMO then it is Serbian. If you say Ideeeeeeeeeeemo then it sounds Italian. lol

The thing you mentioned around 9:20, with putting Cheeze, Pršuta etc in Komplet lepinja, is done at Zlatibor, that's a reason why people from Užice hate when people tell them, that Komplet lepinja is from Zlatibor, when it isn't. Also, If you eat Komplet lepinja with a Knife and a Fork, it's the same like you killed someone🤣

maybe due to the fact that I have an intolerance to eggs and am not a lover of lamb (meat).
But as a Serb I don't remember ever eating a complete lepinja.
Not even all the years that I was on holiday in Serbia.
But because of my intolerance to eggs and not a lamb meat lover.
I prefer that complete lepinja with cheese a bit more.
U pretopu se uopste ne oseca miris mesa, a inace mozes da narucis lepinju samo sa pretopom bez icega drugog, mnogi to rade, a takodje je i jeftinije, mada je komplet lepinja svakako vrlo povoljna. 😉

Šuljaga is definitely the first one. However, I prefered complet lepinja in Blue Moon. You should check it and make your own opinion. 😊
As I'm vegetarian for more than 10 years now, when I'm in Užice, I eat it without gravy, just eggs and kajmak. Still good, not the same of course.
