Thanks for the info. Never knew there were that many types of grease fittings.

How do you assemble the coupler/jaws/spring? all the parts flew out of my coupler when I unscrewed it from the nozzle. I can't find any info on this anywhere.

Button-head fittings are used on bulldozer track rollers because standard fittings would shear off under normal use. If critical applications require the use of a specific type of lubricant, procedures, labeling and training need to be put in place, and only trained personnel allowed to perform maintenance. IMHO.

I keep having a hard time getting a grease gun to let go of the Zerk fitting. Of course most people would instinctively try to pull it straight off. I wonder how many people yank on them like that only to have it suddenly come off and they fall backwards.

so if I have a problem with my grease hardening in the lines (which are roughly 3000 feet) how do I solve this issue?

If the question is grease hardening in the lines, we would suggest looking at the lubricant specifications to confirm that it is suitable for the application. Is there high ambient heat, high pressure required to push the grease through the lines, etc. The lubricant must be able to work in the actual application.
Hardening could also be a situation where two different greases were used (one changeover to the other) and they were not compatible.
If the question is how the get the hardened grease out of the lines - disconnect the lines, use high pressure and a compatible flushing lubricant to clean them out.
