Thank you so much. My husband passed away 6 months ago and I've been learning how to operate all his yard equipment. It's been tough but with fantastic videos like yours, I've been successful (so far!) in getting his riding lawn mower, the blower and now the weedeater up and running. I followed your instructions and now my weedeater is running like a top. Wow. You're a life saver!

Your video saved me from taking my Stihl FS240R line trimmer. It was bogging down about an hour into running just fine. The screen was totally plugged as you had shown. I couldn't find my torch and tried laqure thinner that couldn't cut to clean it. Looked a little harder and found my torch. Burned it all clean, put it back together and ran great. And was able to finish the job. Thanks so much bud!!

.... I have been messing with my Stihl FS 55R weed trimmer for days now. It would barely idle. The last time I had it it ran okay. Thought it was the gas/oil mix way to rich. No. .... I cleaned the carb. Didn't find anything really dirty and it still would idle very rough it ran at all. .... Found this video and the light bulb in my head went off, THAT'S GOT TO BE IT!!!! I am mechanically inclined and what this video showed made perfect sense. The exhaust could not, "exhaust". .... Mine was a little different than in this video but figured out how to get it out. You guessed it, totally clogged. Heated it up, wire brushed it off, blew it out with air, reinstalled and it ran like new. .... THANKS SO MUCH!!!! ..... Trimmed everything last night.

Hi! Just wanted to thank you for the information. I have a stihl fs45 that I purchased at a yard sale years ago and could not get it running. I finally broke down and bought a replacement carburetor. I was able to get it running but it bogged a full throttle. I stumbled across this video and proceeded to check the spark arrester. It was near clogged, so I decided to remove it. My model has a bolt in type with a mesh tubular screen attached. I reinstalled the bolt in tip, ran it, and adjusted the carb. It now runs as good as new! Again, thank you!

My old Stihl FS38 trimmer had no power. Was thinking of ditching it and purchasing a new one. After watching your video mine now runs like a dream. I didn't have a gas torch at my disposal so just used a wire brush and a pair of pliers to hold it. You saved me $180 the price of a new trimmer. The least I can do is subscribe. Thank you.

I tried your solution and it worked perfectly!! My Stihl trimmer suddenly became very sluggish and lost power. I followed your directions, but didn’t have a propane torch available and wound up soaking the screen in carburetor/choke cleaner and scrubbing with copper tubing brush. After reassembling the trimmer it ran like it was brand new! Thanks for the help. This has been one of the best tips I’ve found on UA-cam.

Not only does it build our relationships it teaches them how to take care of their equipment. Great video! My Sthil FS55R will start but when you give it gas it bogs down and shuts off. Awesome, this solved the issue I've been having with one of the Stihl's at work for years.

The eyes, the eyes... I thought I was being sucked into a blue abyss, and then the motor started crashing me back to reality. Hahaha... lovely ambience with kids in the background. Takes me back. Well off to the workshop to fix a friend's brushcutter with exactly the same problem. I said to her as she handed me her machine, " Bet you it's a wasp nest in the exhaust pipe or a grubby air filter." Well it might also be the clutch or cable, but I dont think so. Excellent video.

So the advice in this video is spot on apart from one thing. I have a 4 year old FS 38 sthil whipper snipper and it does not have the mesh screen. There is, however a exhaust port attached to muffler by a 16mm nut. I undid this nut and out it popped with a cylindrical mesh top. So I did as shown the this video and burnt the mesh on my butane stove. It cleaned up a treat and now whipper snipper works like new. Thx bud for a great tip n video

Awesome. Problem solved like that... Thanks very much for this video. You have saved me much time and money on a costly service (that wasn't required). Legend.

Great Vid dude. My Stihl weed eater worked great the first summer - then next season started to bog down to the point where I couldn't use it. I knew it was something and your video fixed me right up. I too used the air compressor to clean the screen. Runs great. Maybe this is a problem with brand new machines and this will run for several years before I have to clean again. THX!
