As a former DHS drummer in Tom's drum line, it's always impressive to see how the line evolves. It's crazy to hear how Tom's writing style is similar to when I was playing in the line. Yet it's a new age of young drummers passing through the world of DHS and its elite marching program! Best of luck from the past class of 97'.
Very clean and beautiful balance from both the battery and pit....I love it great job I’m glad these kids have something like this to keep them out of trouble ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Hey Chris! This was from our Marching Band season. Due to COVID restrictions, we split up the percussion winds and color guard and all performed separate shows. We basically wrote an indoor show and performed it outdoors. We're currently now rehearsing our indoor show for this year.
This activity is already so physically demanding. With cloth/masks on to limit oxygen intake must make them work that much harder out there. Also nice just having some new beats to check out.
Yes, after many many generations of snares playing traditional, for a high school that may aim to have all of their percussionists to be well-rounded, matched grip is the more applicable answer. Plus, it's easier to clean looks, technique and sound
Ok Boomer! That is such a ridiculous thing to say! They are extremely clean and play some pretty difficult music. Sad that you can't even appreciate the hard work of teenagers because of your old outdated way of thinking!
I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion, but at the end of the day these kids are playing at a really high level whether you want to acknowledge that or not.
Imagine being the person coming in here with the negative comments about high schoolers working incredibly hard AND being as safe as possible to be able to put on a show given the current situation. Just imagine being that guy. No thanks.
I never said they weren’t talented. The level of music they are playing it is quite high, but matched grip is significantly easier to play and clean up, especially at a high school level. If you line them up with Chino Hills, who’s a better line? My point here is that if they are to be adjudicated against their peers, they should be held to the same standard.
Dartmouth always has such cool and unique shows every year

The BEST..go Dartmouth Drumline !!
A great percussion composition. Allows the uninitiated to really appreciate what percussion instruments can musically produce.
Sounds a lot like a Western Carolina University book. I love it.
4:02 ok that's a cool camera transition
Thanks!
This is fitting for 2021

Amazing! 👏
yeesssssss lets gooooooo!!!!!!!!
I’m confused, is this indoor percussion or marching band?
Indoor, probabaly just playing outside due to covid protocol. (Just my assumption)
@@tbone0303 but then it says “fall production”, either a typo or the school decided to have an “indoor” show during the fall.

Masks don’t limit oxygen. There’s studies you can find on youtube and the internet. Very physically demanding nonetheless
Yea I mean they are wearing gators, gators are so thin you can see through them, it’s not limiting them at all
@@tacoking1398 yeah, playing soccer in them was tough especially if you weren't using a breathable ones
It bugs me so much that the snares play non traditional grip

Why?
Doesn't bug Tom Aungst, so...
Do you complain how the chef holds the spoon when he cooks you a great meal?
Antifa was great this year!
Lmaooo
They would be so much cooler if they played traditionally
Nah
Sorry, I’m old school and can’t take them seriously if they snares are playing matched. Just can’t do it.

Didn’t SCV play matched in the 70s? and also one year recently?
