    Rega Nd7 cartridge in Rega P6 or P8 does not get on with Naim amplification (with and without external phono stage). Causes hum as the cartridge is moved closer to the centre spindle. Problem replicated with three different Nd7 cartridges and two different Naim setups. Had to move up to the Apheta 3 cartridge, which worked fine. These Nd7 cartridges caused no problem when used with Rega amps.

      @@steveringer59 Does anything at all get on with Naim amplification?

    I'm considering upgrading from a P2 to a P6 and have an AT-VM540ML cart on it using a Rega Fono MM Mk5. How dos the AT cart compare to the Nd carts. Mine is only about a year and a half old so I would probably just keep it, but I was just curious.

      Not sure tbh, because I’ve not heard any of the new Regas, and my experience of AT is limited to that very basic cartridge that the carbon is based on. I think my internet pal Ashley has had your cartridge, but he’s inclined to be a bit anti-Rega and he’s biased. He likes Audio Technica though. So the only thing to do is try to get a hifi shop to show you the difference. There are advantages to using Rega carts on Rega tonearms. The third screw for a start, which negates the need to undergo that fiddly business of aligning the cartridges. And they sound at their best too. What ever you decide, don’t invalidate your guarantee from Rega by fitting the cartridge yourself, get a dealer to do it.

    Obviously I would like to know how the ND7 compares to the 2MR black. I will replace my bronze in 6 months and it's between these two for my planar 6

      @@jpenag I’d like to know the difference between a 2M Black and 2MR Black. I’m hoping you’ll save a few quid and fall in love with the ND7. It looks a fine cartridge.

      @@MarkPMus I would really like the new nd7 to perform better than the black since Rega cartridges are easier to align on a Rega turntable! Plus save a few quids too.
      The 2MR series is the same as the 2M but they made them shorter in height in order to get a better VTA in rega turntables. I’d say the 2MR series is specially designed for rega turntables.

      @@jpenag I had a demo today with a Rega P8 with an Ania Pro Cartridge. My video review will be out in the next couple of days. In the meantime you can see my new video where I visit the hifi store Audio T where I got the TTPSU that powers my RP turntable fixed.

      The elys 2 and p3 combo horrid noisy but exact 2 and p6 with neo way better. What will this nd7 bring vs exact 2?

    what do you recommend for the antiskate setting for the ND5 on a P3?

    • @MarkPMus
      @MarkPMus  Місяць тому +1

      Whatever the tracking weight is, is the same as the anti-skate weight. Thus if your cartridge says tracking force is 1.75g, so should your antiskate weight be set at. The Rega gauges are good, but you might be well off using a non-Rega tracking weight scale thingummy to check that you have the proper weight prescribed by your cartridge. Then adjust the anti-skate to match the same weight as the tracking force. It takes a lot more words to say than to do. So if tracking weight = 1.75g, then anti-skate should also = 1.75g.

    Your gonna save 100 bucks and not get nd7 over nd5 for a p6, really
