Yoshinobu Yamamoto on first MLB win and facing Seiya Suzuki Postgame interview 2024

- Los Angeles Dodgers vs Chicago Cubs
Yamamoto started the game that looked similar to the first inning in Korea but he managed out of it and delivered a great outing to earn his first win as a Dodger.
I do not own this. - Спорт
Yamamoto said:(not perfect English but at least I didn’t just miss anything Yamamoto said😅)
Last time, I did pitched well and today I was able to continue that and I am really happy that I was able to win today.
At the first inning, I aimed at the corners too much so I carried runners but after that, I was able to get strikes without hesitation so I was able to get through.
I have been looking forward to pitch to Suzuki so I was very excited to pitch to him today at this early in the season so I was happy. At the end, I was happy since I was very lucky that the ball happened to go to the good spot even though it was not where I aimed at and I was able to strike him out.
I’m really looking forward to it. I won’t be pitching tomorrow so I’ll be cheering up Shohei and hope to see him hit a super big home run!
Excellent translation!!!😊
Thank you for this. I knew the interpreter was not 100% on point
Thank you!
I hope to see a better interpreter for Yamamoto, as Hiro is obviously not a professionally trained one. He missed one of the key remarks by Yamamoto, saying "I want to see Shohei hit a big one against Imanaga tomorrow!".
LOL. YOU are right ! This interpreter BUTCHERS what Yamamoto says A LOT ! 😂 And it’s not funny for the sake of Yamamoto.
Can we get Yama and Shohei a trained professional interpreter? No offense to Hiro but my gawd he’s just a dude who speaks English and Japanese. It’s a skill not just anyone can do.
Honestly speaking most interpreters in MLB are like that. They are not trained interpreters but just bilingual dudes, and most of the time that is sufficient. You definitely wouldn’t want to use them in a legal case or foreign diplomacy negotiations.
@@ian0903 Maybe they can have someone do just the press interview with them (Yama and Shohei)? Hiro can translate for Yama on a regular basis in the clubhouse but maybe a savvy PR interpreter can perform more “official” duties. Also everyone says Senga’s interpreter is really good.
Caramba how do you say that in Japanese
Yamamoto’s interpreter is by far the worst one I’ve seen. His translation is not precise at all
@@daishiurata4997 Can you understand Japanese? How can you know "His translation is not precise at all"?
Asked about tomorrow, at the end he said, "I want Shohei to hit a huge home run!"
Why did Hiro not translate that part at all? Hiro feels very inexperienced and doesnt have the skill to be a translator. They need professional translators who don't just leave stuff out or mistranslate parts.
@@AlexShiny-rj2yo You either get crappy translator or you get gamblers...can't have it all.🤣🤣🤣
If I were 30 years younger, I would want to be his interpreter. Also ,he looked to be a bit nervous. Yamamoto probably already knows that Hiro is not that great.
@@AlexShiny-rj2yoI don’t think so, all translator need to do is tell yama the main idea of question. He doesn’t need to translate every sentence of the question. Although he mistranslated something, yama still could grasp the question and answered it. In my opinion, this translator still done his job well.
@@helloman3676what’s worse would be a crappy gambler!😂😂😂
The whole package!
Man ippei was doing a great job when it comes to translating interviews
I was disappointed that he didn't translate the last comment, "I won't be pitching, but I'll be rooting for Ohtani and hoping he hits a big home run."
You are right. Yamamoto used the expression 「馬鹿でかいホームラン」which should have been translated as “ humongous homerun”. But unfortunately this interpreter totally BUTCHERED it and 馬鹿でかいホームラン was no where to be found in interpretation.
Interpreter ain't that good!😤
一回二回満塁の場面を無失点で
切り抜けたのがデカい。初勝利おめでとう。
we need a better interpreter
I like Hiro from watching the eating contest but he clearly isn't experienced in translating at all. I could not understand what Hiro was translating because he keeps stuttering and cutting himself off to the point where it doesn't sound like coherent sentences. Should try to give Ohtani and Yamamoto better translators.
i am totally agree with that....even though i am Japanese but i can see his translator is missing sort of important sentence....
No different when latino ballplayers need translators ,I'm fluent in Spanish and sometimes the questions asked in English have to be converted into Spanish ,don't translate very well ,but the players make sense of what they are being asked and are able to make their point.
I'm an Korean fan of Ohtani & Yoshinobu. Even though I'm not good at Japanese I assumed that Yamamoto told about Ohtani's home run. Because Yamamoto is a nember of Doger he could say so. But why the inpreter didn't interprete? Even Mizhara didn't. Ohtani & Yamamoto are great players and I hope that they will not be in any trouble caused by interpretation. Congrats on your 1st Mlb win, Yamamoto. Also I hope Ohtani will hit home runs tom and Dodgers win.
So good!
The translation is bad! A lot of omissions too!
Hmm his translator fails to translate what exactly he is saying…. Like Yamamoto is saying “I’m gonna cheer/support Shohei in tomorrows Game for the win” in addition to just “looking forward to Shohei and Imanaga’s match”.
I am afraid that Hiro-san is not very good.... I hope he won't make mistakes....
ライズボールみたいなのが凄いです。勝てて良かったです。ほっとしました。鳴物入りで入団したので成績残せなかったら大変です。良かったです。😊
They need a better translator.
IPPEI!
んー さすがにやばい気がする
通訳
伝言ゲームみたいになっててそれっぽい違う内容になってる
人柄的な職業なのかもしれんけど内容はもうちょい正確でないとなんかやべえて
一回一回テンパってるよね。まともな人いないのかね?
I like the "Thank you" at the end he's learning... or he speaks English and is toying with people lol
一平さん通訳が優秀だったんだってのが良くわかりました(TT)
I believe that Japanese players must quickly overcome the language barrier in order to develop further overall.
LOL. I guess you are not familiar with languages AT ALL. I used to teach Japanese to American business people ( and they are smart people ). 90% of them couldn’t go beyond greeting phase in Japanese. It’s not that easy, dude.
Yosh pitched awesome. Especially getting us out of the inning. When the bases were loaded
Maybe he can try Ohtani’s former interpreter. Just don’t give him access to your accounts. 😂
That’s so funny. Best comment for the night for me.
his translator needs a translator
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣😂
由伸の通訳ディスられまくってて草、大谷さんにはどデカいホームラン打ってほしいって所勝手に割愛してやがる
あのモーションと球道ではボールの見極めは厳しいよ。他球団から研究もされたはずなのにそれでも何年も日本で頂点にいたピッチャーなんだとあらためて感じる。おめでとう!
由伸さんのドジャース入団会見で通訳を担当したワッサーマンのmakoさんて方が素晴らしかったみたいですね
コメント欄で絶賛されていたので覚えています
The Dodger hoodies they’re wearing are straight fire!
Historical interview completely botched by the interpreter. Damn. No offense to anyone but we really need Will handling these.
He's not much better, sorry to say!
Ireton is not perfect but he is way better than Hiro. I will say that both ireton and Hiro sound really nervous
You can tell how good Ippei was at translating, not direct translation but he explained in very detailed but concise. This dude is awful…
But Ippei also didn't interprete when Ohtani talked about Korean players. Anyway Yamamoto's inpreter doesn't seem to be better than Ippei. He didn't say the key word of Yamamoto's expectation of tom match pitched by Imanaga. Yamamoto cheered for Ohtani.
Ippei was not good at interpreting, he was just good at speaking.
一平さんが如何に有能だったか理解しました。
勝利おめでとうございます🙌🙌
英語のコメントを読むと日本語がわからなくてもこの通訳さんのクオリティーがヤバいことがなんとなく伝わっているようだ
他の優秀な通訳を探さないと山本の発言がいらない誤解をされてトラブルになる可能性がある。
Solution for this translation problem is to keep each answer short and simple.
This interpreter is horrible. He is making a mistake in every sentences, changing what Yamamoto saying, leaving out way too many important part of inteview!
How many Japanese translators do the dodgers have???
I assume this new interpreter will be watched closely
ちゃんと通訳しろや
I’m ready for the job …
I hope this guy is better at placing bets than he is at interpreting
Going through comments since interpreter probably butchered whatever Yoshi said
Do we need to learn how to speak Japanese 🇯🇵 or should they learn how to speak English?😊
大谷や山本の言っているニュアンスを正しく知りたいなら日本語を学ぶべきです。かなりニュアンスが違って訳す場合があります。
SONODA SUCKS!
DODGERS Please get YoshInobu REAL INTERPRETER!!!
Haha they should rehire ippei instead this dude
この通訳の人本当に良くないよね😢
選手の言っていることを正しく伝えられないのってどうなの?
山本選手のユーモアラスな部分とかをメディアに伝えるのも仕事の一つでは?
Go dodgers
I don't think this translator is doing a good job. Can someone who speaks Japanese translate what Yamamoto said? It sounded like he had more to say than what the translator said. He sounded happy to talk about Suzuki but the translator did not convey it.
Yamamoto said, "I hope Ohtani hits home run tom." The reason why he smiled is that Imanaga was member of Olympics as like Yamamoto but they will be against each other tom. Even Yamamoto likes Imanaga Yanamoto belongs to Dogers and he said like that, feeling sorry for Imanaga. Because they are not members of Samurai Japan anymore in Mlb. Re Suzuky he said something but the inpreter didn't mention it.
Will is a bit better than Sonoda but even he doesn't translate everything correctly & adds his own 2 cents which is a major NO NO for interpreters.
Trust me ! Being born bilingual and was an interpreter in my younger days, I know!
Dodgers please get YOSHINOBU a REAL INTERPRETER, if you want to to know is being said.
Yamamoto needs a MLB interpreter, not minor league.
Man this translator is really bad, probably the worst I’ve seen in mlb
Wanna bet?
Let me interpret it for you: this game was just 10% of my ability and from now on I will be the Cub’s daddy.
Seriously, why can’t they hire a trained interpreter for these guys? They can keep Hiro around for Translating day to day stuff for Yamamoto but for interviews, they need a savvy PR interpreter who understands the nuance of both languages.
@@richstrobelHe said it’s the worst HE HAS SEEN. You already lost that bet.
@@rainbowhouse3427lmao
Why lsnt the entrepreneur wearing a Dodgers hat .😮😮
通訳出来てないじゃん
English is hard
It’s not English, but the distance between Japanese and English, that makes interpretation between these 2 languages challenging. Words, phrases and grammar of these 2 languages are so TOTALLY different. Get it ?
Can we get someone from Shogun show to interpret lol
AGAIN2020 ^^ Go Dodgers ^&^ SEOUL KOREA^^
야마모토^^ 메이저이그를 편정하라^^ 월드시리즈 우승을 이끌라^^ 다저스를 깨워라^^
Go go Yamamoto🎉 I also cheer for Ohtani's home run tom as you hoped but the inpterpreter didn't say.
I'm just a Japanese person and I'm not a professional interpreter.
Here is Yamamoto's response.
「I'm happy to have achieved my first win, as I was able to pitch well in the previous game and continue with good pitching in this one.」
「In the first inning, I aimed for the corners a bit too much and ended up accumulating runners, but after getting into a tough spot, I was able to confidently throw into the strike zone and somehow prevent the situation from worsening.」
「Was really looking forward to facing Suzuki in the early part of the season, so it was cool that it happened. Didn't go exactly as planned, but managed to get him out with a good pitch.」
「Can't wait for it, even though I won't be on the mound. I'll be cheering on Shohei, hoping he smacks a massive home run!」
なんかみんな通訳悪いって言ってるね
ChatGPT does better job than this guy.
who thinks lamet got canned so dumberts would stop using hin
Complaints about the interpreter from bilingual aces.
Hey, none of you who speak Japanese give examples.
How is the interpreter messing up? 🥶🍟🍼
He didn't inppterprete Yamamoto's key word. He talked about Ohtani's homf run tom but the inperter just said that Yamamoto wiil take a break and enjoy the match.
Unfortunately his mess up is so bad that is indescribable. Yamamoto deserves MLB interpreter, not minors.
Mixed feelings about the new look Dodgers. Yamamoto and Ohtani are very good, very humble players. But neither speaks English and it's just hard to really see them as anything other than a couple of foreign players. They are distant due to the language barrier and will never endear themselves to most of the fans in Los Angeles like home grown players or players that represented the majority demographic in LA--guys like Fernando Valenzuela, or Mike Scioscia, or Steve Garvey, or more recent players like Clayton Kershaw or Mookie Betts. A World Series may cure this--but i doubt it.
Is that you Stephen A Smith? Dude literally has a mural in downtown LA
Valenzuela didn't speak much English either at the beginning. Don't dismiss Ohtani and Yamamoto just because you don't understand what they're saying. These guys can play and that's what matters.
Lol what? LA loves them both already. I think Nobu and Shohei are going to be just fine.
A team's make-up should, to some extent, reflect the surrounding city and demographic in which they play. The Dodgers do not. Would you be okay with it, for example, if all the players wre Japanese, or if they were all Hispanic? I'm guessing you wouldn't be.
@@GabeRamirez15 Maybe you're right. Maybe not.
We need an interpreter for the interpreter.
Is the translator drunk?? That second answer was all over the place 😂
