Strasburg Rail Road Day Out With Thomas 09-18-2023

Built in 1917 by Porter, the Brooklyn East District Terminal 0-6-0T 15 was operated on the Brooklyn, NY switching dockside railroad for several decades. Originally an oilburner, the BEDT tank engines were designed for one-man operation. The 15 was the last engine to run for BEDT, retired in 1965. After static display in North Carolina and Ohio, the 15 was acquired by the Strasburg Rail Road and restored in 1999 with extensive modifications including a coal conversion, a new pilot, a modified water tank, and new placements for the sand dome and steam dome. The modified 15 operates select weekends at the Strasburg Rail Road and other venues.
Also it became Thomas the Tank Engine. While not an exact match for the E2-based locomotive from the popular books and TV show, the BEDT 15 has proven a popular fully operational steam locomotive stand-in at "Day Out With Thomas" events. The tank engine is often trucked to other operations around the country in addition to the numerous Strasburg events.
Since 2020, the 15 has operated the entire length of the Strasburg Rail Road. With eight car trains going up the persistent 1% grade of America's oldest shortline, America's fully operable Thomas the Tank Engine puts on an impressive show. Not bad for a tank engine from Brooklyn.

I have went here back on June 26th 2023 during Day out with Thomas there. Where they were running Strasburg Railroad Cagney #3 (Built by the Cagney Bros. in 1920), Canadian National 89 (Built by Canadian Locomotive Company in February 1910), and the Strasburg Railroad Thomas the Tank Engine (A.K.A Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal #15, built by the H.K. Porter Co. in 1917).
