Simon Orrell sings 21 Beatles songs using the same 3 easy chords - A D E.
Simon is singer-guitarist with The Violet Moon folk duo.
I know that Honey Don't and Act Naturally weren't written by the Beatles but they recorded these songs on their albums so I count them as Beatles songs. Hope you agree. This is meant as a tribute to the brilliant Beatles. It's a bit of fun. The Beatles, of course, use different keys and often more complicated chords. On some of the songs, I have, admittedly, over-simplified :)
If you have a Facebook page, please spare a moment and take a look at / thevioletmoonduo
it is me and my daughter's band website - thanks :)

Dear Guitar connoisseurs, please... we know that these songs can and usually should be played with more than just 3 chords. However, the fact that all these songs can also be played with 3 very easy chords means that beginners can quickly learn to play all of them and enjoy them. Just take a minute from all yer bitchin', calm down, and realize that not everyone was born knowing how to play all the complex chords like you all definitely were.

Thank you Simon. This video was my jumping off point for teaching myself to play the guitar. You are wonderful. It has been 9 years now and I am playing shows, hosting open mics, and having a groovy time with the music. I will always be grateful to you. Thank you! ☮️🤍 Jackie
In that way you can play any song in a single chord too. MAMIFACCIAILPIACERE!
It was great! Once i was at a party and there was a guitar and I tried to play Stand by me, and everyone started singing some other song of a national band. The people really enjoyed it. Sometimes is about having fun and comunicate joy
people gotta understand that this is for like beginners who just want to play the songs infront of a small audience. Not a damn Beatles tribute band. Whatever sad people. Nice video
Kris.C I like it. To learn to play guitar is expensive and takes a lot of time. That is why the ukulele is so popular now. It does not cost too much. One can learn some simple chords and make some singalong music. Pass the spiked coconut juice please.
...and who says you can't use just three or 4 chords in front of a large audience? Michelle Branch did it all the time!
I don't get why people are so harsh in the comments. Why can't everybody just relax and understand that this is a youtube video, not a recording to sell or anything. I, personally, thought this was a cool video. :)
Thanks :)
because your a simpleton
Ping Pong Really, I'm the simpleton? At least I know how to use "you're" and "your" properly.
good come back, you put me in my place
Amen....were it not for this guy, I might not have had the determination to learn even more Beatles tunes.
Some people don't use the one brain cell they have, so you can't expect much from them can you? lol
Carry on....
I don't understand why do people have to be so rude and argue for everything every time. I want to learn to play guitar and I'm sure this will be so helpful and funny. I like this video!
You are completely awesome. Learnt those three chords today and been trying to find songs I can play with them. Thank you!
After years of trying to play guitar not doing that good. I see 21 Beatles songs Sir you are the man. Thank you so much now i can have a little fun at the camp ground. You made me a happy man. Thanks Jim in Baltimore.
I thought this was simply amazing because i'm a huge Beatles lover but I'm fairly beginning to play guitar, and most of the Beatles lessons require either a capo or complicated chords that as a beginner I don't know. So this really helps!! Thank You So Much For UPLOADING!!!! :)
at the age of 55 i am learning guitar watching lessons on you tube ie andy guitar which is great i have nailed those ghords watching your video and playing along is so much fun thankin you
You know Simon, I've been playing for about 2-1/2 years now and while not great I am much better than when I started.
Wish I had started at age 12 instead of 56. At any rate I think I'd have a blast playing along with you cause as stated elsewhere here it's about having fun and you my friend are having fun. Nice work mate and cheers from the former colonies (U.S.)!
I only just started getting the F barre chord, and thanks to you I can play some songs now. Thankyou, so simple to have some fun.
Keep up the good work Simon, I find it very useful and also love listening to these all time classics.
Congrats! You've made such a great job, for people who love Beatles music but in case they know only three chords to play, the ones usually are first one to learn for beginners ))
Real hippie soul man
all of these list are my favorite songs. great job

YOU ROCK This is what I needed...you make playing all these songs simple!!!! Thanks so much!!!
As an amateur guitar player and not a singer this gives me hope. You have inspired me to start singing. I’ll find a key that’s good for me. Thanks for taking the time to post this. Ron Annapolis MD

You're very welcome :)

You are a Hero!
That was really cool thanks, you can really build off all this!
Well done mate! Very Good!
Simon, please ignore the negative and meant to discourage comments. Bear in mind to "consider the source and ignore the remarks" and be encouraged to continue to share and help. We who don't have super egos or low self esteem to satisfy and just want to learn from the easiest and most accessible sources, APPRECIATE that you have taken the time and effort which is probably more than what any critic will do.... how can they when they are too busy picking well-meaning folks and their efforts, apart? Enjoying and learning from your vid. Mahalo Nui Loa with Aloha.
Thanks so much :)
Brilliant my friend. Thanks for doing this, definatley campfire stuff.
I love your guitar! I'm going to try tomorrow haha
And howe is it going? :)
Amazing how simple and fund learning guitar can be.
If he wants to add a little bit more, then he should quickly show how to strum for each chord, D, A and E start from which string and how to develop a good and flowing strumming action as he did.
However, I strongly recommend for all beginner, it is just perfect.
Great ❤❤
Cool 😎 nice work
Great job,I'm learning quitar but I play lefthanded just wish I can find some videos for lefties.keep up the good work.
That's Great - Greetings from Switzerland
Great - Thx !!!!!
this is great!!!
I also know that many of them have more than three chords but this is a lot of fun, especially at jams because people don't necessary know all the chords to Beatles songs (even if I do!) I'm a Beatles fanatic!
Cool Guitar

Thanks for your kind comment. There are a lot of bad ones on here :)
Ignore those, my friend. I only wish I could play like you do.
Keep on practicing your art.
Cheers,
Dave
Clever. Thanks! I love the Beatles but as a beginner guitarist some of those convoluted chords are scary - your versions are much easier! :)

Hi Sara, I can only suggest the internet - many chord sites feature these songs but probably in a different key. Thanks for your kind comment.
that was a great lesson for someone who finds hard to remember chords
The way I hold my A chord I would never have to lift my first finger using these 3 chords, A little diddy I learned off you tube, Justin Sandercoe awesome instructor.
dammit !!! I love your guitar !!! cool :)
This is fantastic, thanks for making this. Wonder if anyone could advise, if I was to concentrate on Act Naturally all the way through using ADE like shown, what chord is used through the line "Cause I can play the part so well". A, D or E doesn't fit. Don't mind adding another but struggling to work out what it should be. Thanks for any info given.
Thanks for posting this, I've found it really helpful. If I was to concentrate in Act Naturally all the way through using ADE as shown, would you be able to advise what Chord would I should use for the line "Cause I can play the part so well". A, D, or E Doesn't seem to work.
Simon Says ...play A D E and it sounds great ... thanks !!!
good job.
