- So beautiful people, let me re introduce my self, I am from Delta State, Ughelli/kiagbodo girl, born and raised in Warri, so this soup is my "village food". So when cooking this soup please DO NOT COVER THE POT.
So the starch, edible potash and salt mix is to to prevent the soup from turning watery because like I said in the video the soup is very technical and any little mistake it turns watery. If you want to make it without the starch you add lots of garri to make it thick.
URHOBO WADO!!!

CHAIIII!!!!!!! This is my Village soup o! I am from Ughelli but born and raise in Lagos. However my mom made this soup and taught us. so I called her(my mum) and she said when using regular table salt you mix it with the edible potash and starch cos if you put the salt directly into the soup it kills the thickness and the soup turns watery. Also there's a native salt that looks like potash but its white and that's the salt that's actually used for this soup but if you don't have that you can mix the regular table salt, starch and potash
Niceeeeeee
Love the detailed explanation
I’m just like you I like my meat chopped in small pieces I didn’t know you add garri into the soup🤔it’s amazing , I like snails and seeing those big snails into the pot makes me want to eat them from the screen , I liked the out come of the soup looking so good and inviting , by the way what did your mum said about the mixing of salt🥰🥰

@@SandraAkhidenor that’s amazing💖💖
Oh my goodness this owho soup looks so delicious. What can I use to replace potash?
hmmm potash replacement, i don't think there's a replacement for potash cos the potash helps the oil and the water mix in well together and also helps thickens cos if i suggest achi now its has turned to oha soup without oha leaves lol
U really try
Awww see better food nw pls I need oooo
This is real urhuobo owo, calling for starch, where the garri
I have your bell
This soup can embarrass you😂😂😂 I'm an Ijaw girl but my mum is urhobo😅😅
The secret of this soup is to use Urhobo oil and good ugherin (native salt). Lastly know the proportion of starch and garri to use, do not use salt. I am an Urhobo woman
No native spices. No native salt? I thought palm oil is added after it has cooled down.
I'm sure there are various ways to cook. Will try this though. Thks for sharing
It's the edo state owo that cools down before adding palm oil, as for the native salt I skipped it, but if you have it you can use instead of regular salt, and I can't think of any other native spice I missed.
Thanks for watching ❤️

So delicious I feel like going to cook this
