Buying Leasehold: Is it a bad idea?

For me service charge is a scam I'm paying so much money which I don't see how it is spent.I suspect too high cost ,using brokers,some of these money going to the owner ,lobby group like insurance agreements .How it is painful when I see they building modern council houses with solar panel and I have to dream about it and pay plenty of money which I don't see like 6000£ for cutting an acre of grass..They pay much less for new houses .Of course my house is not old built in 2004 but it was built when energy was cheap .Can you imagine how much money you could save over a decade ? Missing an appointment with a fire-controller costs you 300£ .this all is too much .
